If the Menzel deal goes through, and we delist Wright as expected, does that mean as it stands we can only upgrade one of O'Brien and Kelly?

Yes

In: Gore, Hampton, Seedsman, Pick 9, Pick 13, Menzel = 6 Players

Out: Dangerfield, Reilly, Podsiadly, Martin, Siggins, Kerridge, Wright = 7 Players

That means one rookie upgrade, and we'd also meet the 3 drafted players requirement

Don't get me wrong, I think Matt Crouch is an excellent young player for us and will turn out to be a fantastic inside mid for us but a lot of his touches at the moment are receiving little 15-20m kicks when he could perhaps spread to a more dangerous position. For his age though he is showing all the right signs of becoming a 200+gamer.

That'll come when his aerobic capacity increases after a couple more years in the system.

According to AFL.com, if the Menzel trade falls through, we'll still deal Kerridge to Carton for a future 2nd round draft pick which sounds like a good fall back if Adelaide decide Menzel's medical shows something they don't like. This is turning out to be a good deal for us regardless which way it goes.

If it's 28 then the Menzel deal needs to drop first?
I believe so, unless Carlton are willing to give up pick 20 or 21. It's all rumoured that our deal, along with the Carlton and GWS one is all tied up with the Treloar trade, so that sounds like it could be what's holding everything up at this point.

Looks like Kerridge is gone,
trade will either be Kerridge + pick 28 for Menzel
or Kerridge + Pick 28 for Carltons second round selection 2016
That second option is a terrible deal

I can't believe Melbourne have picks 3 and 10 in the draft, that's two more careers waiting to be ruined. Every year they get handouts, do nothing; we don't even have a top ten pick ON OUR LIST. It's a disgrace.

Also, "Gubby Allan here at AFL House waiting for old mate SOS. Sumner/Phillips/Plowman/Lamb will all become Blues" - I'd love to see Mr Integrity Ken Wood ask how it is that even:

Sumner - pick 10, 2011
Phillips - pick 97, 2012
Plowman - pick 3, 2012
Lamb - pick 1, 2013 PSD (was pick 21, 2010)

for what are Carlton giving up exactly? Smells fishy to me.

If we don't get Menzel, we should be pushing hard for pick 8 from GWS.

Pick 28 and Kerridge to Carlton

4 GWS players to Carlton

GWS get pick 20, 21 and 28

we get pick 8.

Can't see how 20, 21 or 28 on it's own could be allowed to go through for this?

Matt, no.

I'd say M crouch is more talented than thommo and it all depends on whether he has the remarkable drive that thommo has displayed over his career

If M crouch does have that then I see him having a career than can compare favourably with thommos
Matt Crouch will never be an AA selection (Thompson 2012), nor will he ever win a club B&F (Thompson 2011, 2012). He's just not that good.

Where did you read we're giving Kerridge and Pick 28 for Carlton's future second round pick? I read it would be Kerridge for Carlton's second round pick.

As long as we benefit every once in a while, it works for me.

And I think as a supposed non destination club with salary cap space we will benefit...
Would much rather be a destination club that can palm off its Mackay mistakes to other desperate clubs....

The blues defense is going to be pretty good. Weitering and Plowman will be a more talented KPD pair than any in the league. Cripps will be a superstar. However, the rest of their list is horrible. No forward line with Menzel leaving, and Murphy/Gibbs haven't nearly lived up to expectations.

Why use accolades? My belief is that he will surpass his brother even if Brad is fit. Let's hug.:rainbow:

I think the point is at the same age you could copy paste exactly what you're saying about Matt into a conversation about Scott v Riccuito. You cannot know how Matt will develop already at such a young age.
