Two points:

1. Umpiring woeful. I watched 3 games this weekend and all were disgraceful performances. Pies got no favours at all. Gobsmacked truly I am.

2. On the other side you dominated the clearances in the first half and should have put them away then (been up by 7 or 8 goals) but didn't and paid the price when the Demons adjusted, got stuck in for the 2nd half and the Pies went into their shell a little.

Other than the Greenwood free kick which was piss poor I wasn't too upset about the umpires.

Yeah, I'm a bit the same. A lot of the 50/50 decisions went their way which can create that perspective of bias but there weren't too many howlers. The Greenwood HTB one probably the only 1.

Folks, please keep it civil towards each other, thanks

I think we need a civil and not civil Post Mortem thread 76.........I won't accept PieBeasts crap.......band me or delete my threads if you like.

Honest question FAIRBALANCED.........thoughts on Langdons first game (not being a smart arse)?

Langdon had a couple of terrific marks but if he doesn't mark it he is a liability. Was pleased he seemed to be lighter than last year when he got too heavy. TBH, I've never been a fan and think he is up against it when Goldy and Reid are fit.

You're consistent, I'll give that... what he does he does well, just not often enough. In that respect he and Broomy could be twins..

He had 22 touches. I rather his Touches the Adams 25+ as he is a Turnover King

Looked a step behind the pace, first kick was shithouse, still did a few classy things and a couple of brilliant holding the ball tackles.

In such an intense game he was about as expected for someone who hasnt played for a year. He will come good.

Your thoughts on Scharenberg?

I thought Langers was ok......I would have left him on Petracca the whole game.......I think our coaching staff got that match up wrong.

As for Shazza apart from the kick that was short and got intercepted I thought he was OK.

Our defence is missing a "Sinclair" big time it is very unbalanced IMO.

We again excelled at the handballing to blokes standing still and with their opponent right up their clacka.

It must be called the Josh Smith drill cause we sure like handballing to him when he's under pressure.

I recall Nick dal santo talking after one of our early games about rules about certain players kicking across goal or through the corridor or whether every player has license to make that kick.

Buck's FFS - surely you've seen enough of Taylor FArking Adams constantly f;;k it up and implement the rule just for him!

throw in Varcoe.

The persistent talk about umpires is, I think, a bit sad. Our midfield needs to accept responsibility for this. They didn't give us first use out of the centre in the second half, and they struggled to get their hands on the ball at all in that half. It was clear at the start of the season and it's painfully clear at times like these: our offense and defence will struggle if the mids don't get and move the ball freely.

Really JB?

You didn't think the umpires had any influence on the result today?

Talk about drinking your own bathwater, Gimp.

Mate.. dunno what it is.. but when it comes to spotting talent.. i just see it.. little things I pick up on.. i rarely get it wrong. Probably something to do with soccer.. just see a lot of artistry and toughness.. things that escape the commoner eye.. that's where myself being bougeois picks up on.

Even game plan.

I'm actually happy with the way we played.. we are not a premiership threat as yet.. but really close to it. 10 players with under 50 games today mind you.

That one where Hunt threw it after we didn't get a push in the back... just so bad.

Was that the one early in the 3rd?

Think it was 20 out in our fwd line, Demons ran it down their end and got the goal, knew we were stuffed from then on.

Yes, because we are chockers when it counts

I am not a big Langdon fan but I would have played him the whole game on Petracca.....moving Howe onto him after half time didn't work. Langdon was good and bad exactly how he has been his whole career so far.

As for the "throw in Varcoe" post........that is exactly what I meant.........a fast HBF.

Even Crisp was not used well in the second half IMO.

You didn't think the umpires had any influence on the result today?

I do, but our destiny was in our own hands in the second half and we fluffed it. We lost control of the ball and didn't have enough composure when they came at us. Of the things I'm disappointed by today, the umpiring just doesn't feature too much at all.

Our midfield's performance is IRRELEVANT to the performance of the umpires.

REGARDLESS of the outcome the officiating was totally one sided after half time.

The Greenwood holding the ball was an absolute howler.

The blatant push in the back to Adams streaming into the forward line NOT called is beyond that.

Yes. I agree that our midfield's performance was irrelevant to the performance of the umpires. Our midfield went missing all by itself.

Why is no one going berserk over Levi's miss from almost dead in front in the last five minutes...? or did i imagine it..
Treloar and the run miss just pre siren of third quarter :(

Really, do you think we should have given up a 4 goal lead as meekly as we did.....dont blame the umps. This is like Buckley deflecting losses due to injuries......get off it!!
