Game is starting to grow on me a bit more. Its a keeper for me just based on the fact its a footy game and my collection is lacking any sort of sports game......

....but not right now, game is not worth the asking price (lack of features makes longevity questionable) and with other games on my want list i will finish a season, get a high trade in value and then pick it up again around christmas time (when i need my footy fix) for much cheaper.

Will say though once you get a run on or get a good chain of handballs and kicks going, the game feels very rewarding, unlike the tackle fest which you experience majority of the time.

This is a great game, had a blast with a couple of mates last night. Picked up a slab of beer and played for like 8 hours straight. Feeling a little seedy today at work though.

One thing that really annoyed me though was the autoselect feature when you're streaming back with a midfielder trying to file a hole. All of a sudden it autoselects a defender for you and you just end up running away from the contest, leaving the opposition forward to take an uncontested mark.

The tapouts are very hard to master, as is field kicking. In fact, it is a very challenging game. I played my first game on the second hardest difficulty with a mate and we got pumped by about 100pts with 5 min quarters. We dropped it down one difficulty, lost a couple more games and then started to find some form.

Overall, we kicked a few epics goals off the ground, made a few howlers that were absolutely hilarious to watch, and generally just had a blast.

I did play one single player game when my mate passed out and I found that it is so much more challenging than playing with friends. The AI just never provides a handball link up option, never leads in the right places and just generally never finds any space. I found single player very frustrating however I was pretty tanked by this point so I'll give it another try tonight.

A few small issues that are quite annoying - 7/10 overall for mine. Will be playing this game with mates for a while to come.

Loving it, me and the housemate sank beers and played 10 games, I won all but 2 (Went GCS).

It has it's short comings but ffs, is there a gaelic footy game for irishmen? Hurling? Nup. We are spoiled to have anything!

Who even hears the commentary?

Bump seems hard to use/pull off. Double tap Triangle to bump maybe?

My biggest gripes I'd like addressed, but don't come near ruining it for me:
Ryan O'Keefe is a left footer dammit!
2 songs on menu repeat. Mix in some non vocal no name rock in between.
in game replay?

now there's a few others but meh, I had a ball just playing 10 exhibition games.

Bradshaw is a beast, 5 goal minimum games :d

We preferred the broadcast camera on default.

So far i've had some fun playing with mates but it will probably get old very fast, mainly due to the no franchise mode. If I didn’t know better then I would probably assume it is just a developed version of the 05-07 games, it’s got a similar vibe IMO.

The goal kicking is very easy, however I like it. It would be great if it was difficult but over complicating it will ruin it.

Pressing X (360) for goal kicking mode is good. I’d prefer that camera angle for all spot kicks. It just makes it easier to see down the ground.

The game is so fast that 90% of the time the radar is useless. If you look away to look at the radar you’re tackled. And also the radar makes it much harder to judge your kicks. So most of the time I’m just kicking and hoping. Has anyone been able to regularly and purposely hit up leads? If so, how?

Commentary is poor but at the moment it’s the last thing they should worry about.

I haven’t quite got the hang of the ruck yet so I wont comment on it.

When selecting my side for each match, the set up, IMO is bad. I would think that almost every single club in Australia (local and AFL) would select their team on a ground view with the players in the positions. Then a list of the reserves down the bottom. It just makes it easier to gain an understanding of the teams needs. When playing against a mate, I can then get the match ups right before the bounce that way.
I can’t understand how the current method would be in any way superior.

The worst thing Im finding about the game is the camera angles. They are positively woeful. The best camera angle me and my mates are finding to use is the end-to-end balanced. Ecept when the ball goes into the forward 50 the camera hovers at the 50m mark, and you cant see what the hell is going on. Such a p*** poor bug. AND **** THIS SHITS ME. I have a big telly, but with most of the other angles you cant see anything, the graphics just arent clear enough and the camera is too far away. Im going blind squinting looking at the screen! You cant even tell the teams apart. End-to-end close is too clsoe to see what is going on around you in tight contests.

With the end to end camera, it is good to spot up leads. As far as Im concerned the side cameras are totally useless if you want to play the game properly. Its back to 1994 with the bomb it long/kick and hope.

I dont think the lock and kick feature works when your kicking on the run either. Its just kick and hope. Ruining the game.

In saying all this, had a lot of fun still playing my mates, having some great matches. Playing the AI is really hard, tey mark everything, and its way too quick.

BigAnt: Can the end-to-end balanced camera issue I talked about be fixed in the patch please.

I am happy with the gameplay itself which is exactly what we were told would be good.

Don't know why people are dissappointed about the season mode, not the bugs but the simplicity of it, we already knew this.

A few bugs here and there but all fixable. People have got to realise that this is a learning experience for Big Ant and through trial and error they will eventually patch it all up and everything will be sweet.

7/10 for me. Solid game.

Next time the season mode also needs better stats. Need to be more in depth like in NBA 2K11 where you can view all the players stats from each of their games, and they are given averages etc. Really need to be able to check how many touches some of the players got after the game aswell, one of the funniest reasons of playing is seeing the stats and who plays well and who doesnt.

worst thing by far in the game is the 2 shitty songs over and over and over and over and over again

Haha, turn them off then n00b.

I love people crapping on about how great NBA is. I've found NBA games to be getting progressively worse with the more features they pack in.

I think the game is what it is. And guess what, you can customise it. Try changing difficulty and tactics, try creating a custom team (even if for exhibition games... I've made State of Origin sides!! Who ever thought we'd see that??). Try exploring the gameplay mechanics a bit more instead of just confining yourself to tackle-tackle-tackle-handball-tackle-handball-goal. The game actually lends itself to needing to master more than that to win.

It's not, and never was, ever going to be a masterpiece. But it's a pretty damn good foundation to build on. And if you want a better version... this game will need to be SUPPORTED. Otherwise it will be the same crap of developer gives up due to lack of sales/interest... few years later another developer picks up the licence... rinse... repeat.

I'm not saying adore it and claim it to be the best thing ever invented. But give it more than a couple of days and try and invest something into it other than the normally misdiagnosed ADHD "I'm bored, I winz too much, onlinez is teh ghey" mentality.

I'm really enjoying the game.

Winning the tap and putting it on the boot quickly gets you the clearance and a good chance to open up the defence.

I just hope that the patch fixes the following:

1. Sprint speed to increase, so that you can break way and open up the play.
2. Less stoppages and less tackles sticking.
3. Be able to view all player stats during a game.
4. Team line ups in a ground view.
5. Fix online features.

:thumbsu: Really like this post :)
The main things i think that need to be also changed would be:
1. stats, during the games not just top 3
2. Line up to much easier to view and change before the game (ground view as stated above)
3. Auto switching players to be to actual places they play E.g jack riewoldt should not switch with angus graham in ruck!
4. online play
5. get more than 2 songs!
6. being able to use created players and custom teams in the proper afl season and not in custom seasons
7. a career mode not just a single season is a must for most people and for the game to get more followers
8. the way the ball bounces
9. turning circles of players is like the turning cirle of the titanic

other than that, i love it! Thanks Ross and the crew

I take back any complains I had about the tackling. When you figure out how to get the ball out of the congestion to a free man, it's quite easy to get the clearance. Easy, but challenging. Trust me, others will certainly figure this out and love the game so much more.

Well after playing for a good day now I have to say loving it.

Once you get the hang of tackles, handballs into space and quick kicks it becomes pretty easy to get clearances.

My only gripe is people leaving online games when they get a bit of a touch up and results in me not getting the win.

Greatest thing is getting the ball inside 50 playing on for the snap, sure set shots are easy but they don't look as good.

worst game ive played, you will se my copy in the trade in bin, the fact that this was $98 is a joke! Ross should be ashamed!

Improvements to be looked at/added for next game:
* Continuous seasons, has been mentioned already though
* Better outlay of stats, would like to see them at the end of the game. I know you can see it later but would be good to see quarter by quarter, make adjustments.
* Speed to have more of an impact. I find that players like Ballantyne can't really power past players and steam in on goal.
* Marking system - I think its extremely hard to get used to, fair enough you can't always win them and that's fine, but its very hard to gauge where it is and the computer marks every single time. At least have a better tutorial of which it tells you what position to go to and when about to press it. People have explained it to me but I still find myself coming off second best and finding it hard to get to contests as they always seem to be miles in front of me.

That's a few but of course it's a good game and a good start to hopefully what is a long line of AFL games.
