I was playing Gouldy from BF online in FIFA 09 a week or so ago, and I can't exactly remember the score at the time but im pretty sure it was 1-1, anyway the ball was in his penalty area, and my guy went to kick it and had a fresh airy, he then took control of the ball and scored...

Haha I have many ragequits to my name playing NBA 2K, NBA Live and Madden NFL Games.

I find that nearly every basketball game has the inbuilt CPU catch up mode, whereby you will have a double digit lead thru 3 quarters then "brace yourself for the furious CPU rally"...y'know the one that makes you miss lay ups from directly underneath the basket while they are hitting fadeaway 3's with 1 second left on the shot clock (one of the all time classics was when Shaq nailed a 3 at the buzzer with 2 guys in his face to eliminate me from the playoffs...I can laugh about it now but I needed to buy a new controller after that incident)

The NFL games aren't so blatant but the CPU does have a knack for pulling off that miraculous 4th quarter interception as well. :thumbsd:

Every EA sports game has this as a standard feature.

Tiger woods is another example

^^^^
I'm even copping it on NBA 2K9 now.

I remember some of the early basketball games, may have even been the Live series around the mid to late 90's, actually had a function in the settings menu called "Catchup Mode" and you could toggle it on or off.

Now you don't even get the option.

Can't say I've noticed it in Tiger Woods...but that's probably because I haven't spent a substantial amount of time playing it, even though I do own Tiger 09.

Not really talking one on one games so much

Play a tournament over 4 rounds. If your first round is great, and you have a 5-6 shot lead, the other players will amazingly start shooting ridiculous scores until they're almost unbeatable.

The best way to get around it is to just play steady for the first 3 rounds. Aim for the middle of the green, don't try and go too hard and just keep up with the opposition. Then just blitz it in the final round before the comp has a chance to adjust:D

Not so much a ragequit as such but back in the day myself and my housemates were obsessed with Fifa (98?). We'd get so ****ing worked up over it that scoring a goal was such an amazing sensation that you would leap out of your chair pumping your fist and thrusting your groin towards the poor bastard on the receiving end. Unfortunately being scored against, especially a game ending goal had quite the opposite effect and the person on the receiving end would usually slam the controller down before going on a red card rampage, just diving into any player near by. In that version of FIFA you could also slide tackle the goalie while he was about to kick the ball which was just hilarious to watch your one of your mates do because you'd just know you had the better of him and that underneath he was absolutely stewing.

Good times:thumbsu:

Hehe yep, you knew it was on when the red card tackles came out heheh

I am guilty of doing that online when I was playing FIFA 09. Especially if I was a victim of the defence being completely hopeless and not responding, or the stupid crabwalk. I would hunt for blood and end up with 7 or 8 players on the pitch.

i've never had a problem with tiger woods in the tournaments...there'd never be a problem there...

but in tiger woods '04 in the tiger challenge or whatever it was...when you were doing too well the opposition would start sinking shots from 60 metres out every few holes now that shit me to tears!

i think the only reason i beat it was because i got a hole in one then a double eagle back to back...you could birdie every hole and it wasn't enough

tournaments are pretty much too easy in 09...every round 10-15 under lol

Possibly, but I'm not adverse to the physics, some cars are near impossible to drive though, which is a bit annoying, especially if you are going to go through some jumps, but it could be that the maps are really fun to drive on and the fact you can do anything in a GTA race, but I have spent many an hour on it, I basically know each map like the back of my hand.

I was reading an article just yesterday about how GTA IV's driving physics have changed the expectations in what driving should be like in games, forcing the makers of new game 'The Wheelman'(Open World game similar to Driver, based on the upcoming movie of the same name).

Here is the article: GTA IV HAS CHANGED GAMERS 'EXPECTATIONS'

Whether it is good or not is up to the gamer really, but it is interesting to see which direction it sends racers in.
I love the physics in GTA IV! Especially how you can jump in a powerful car and just slam on the accel n spin the wheels to do a u-turn.

Fifa 09,

Last night, Ive upped the difficulty has i was hammering teams like the Arse 5-0 so started a new manager campaign.

I nearly broke my controller. Ive won 1, lost 2 and drawn 2 and playing Stoke (out of all teams) and I was determined to get a win. ****ing peppering the goals and had Bentley shoot over the bar form about 6 yards out, seriously I couldnt buy one then in the 89th mintue Delap scores in Stokes first real attack on goal.

Gave up, I was fuming, seriously if anyone has any tips on gameplay for FIFA (for a former Pro Evo man) PM me.
What difficulty are you playing it on? Try using sprint less when attacking. Or looking through the FIFA 09 thread.

Bahaha... yes that would have been pretty annoying, I think it got a lot worse after that for you didnt it? :p

Probably my worst that I can remember are when I was playing FIFA and I was allready in a shocking mood, I got carved by this guy online. So I proceeded to karate kick in 5 drawers on my desk. Completely shattering them.
And also, the final battle against Ocelot in MGS4, apparantly most people found it easy, but FFS it made me furious!!! Anyways, nothing too creative, lots and lots of swearing and roid rage type actions. Ohh I did get a sauce bottle and absoloutely rip it at the wall making it shatter and go all over my room. For those who have forgotten or do not know, Tomato sauce has a smell that basically, you only wanna smell when you're eating it. Not when it's in your carpet, your curtains, all over your cables etc...

It's not good when you're in a GTA Race and driving a Coment!

I forgot the biggest ragequit game(s): Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Gaiden 2. I love playing them they are both brilliant but at the same time nigh on impossible.

I did finish the first one but it was hell, one slight mistake in a boss fight and its all over, they will pummell you until you can take no more and still not stop and then back to your last save point you go which was well before the boss fight meaning you had to traverse those tricky canyons or ledges all the while fending off hordes of Japans finest monsters.

Ive had to put Ninja Gaiden 2 down for a while as things were getting messy I will finish it but like the ninja I need my mind to be free of anger and clear :)

Ninja Gaiden on the higher difficulties is a real sonofabitch

The boss fights were so tough. Such great games though

I spat it last weekend with my 9 year old son who was laughing at me and calling me a noob because i was getting my arse handed to me on Call Of Duty.

Banned him from playing any games for a month.

An hour later, he was back on playing :o

hahaha classic

I spat the dummy on cod4 just before 5 came out, playing a game with shite connection just blasting this guy ten metres away who hasn't turned and faced me yet. He finally turns around, one shot I'm dead. Killcam has me facing the other way.

Back in the days of fifa08 manager mode I'd worked everton to the FA cup semis, already knocked out of UEFA and the carling cup, with buckleys of winning the premiership. Playing Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. 2-0 down at half time. Getting smashed. Then my newest recruit Josh Kennedy got a run, coming on for the hapless yakubu. 50th minute Jesus Navas plants one on JK's head 2-1. 5 minutes to go Mikel Arteta plants one on JK's head, all square. Going absolutely nuts, kicked my toe on the couch I was goinmg so ballistic. Went through extra time with no goals. To penalties.
Well that was it Peter friggin Cech decided that he was going to save everything no matter how well hit it was. Whereas they would not miss and every friggin shot was top corner.

I got a bit cranky...

Im not one to usually lose it over a video game, but Goldeneye, Aztec, 007 mode was really really really hard.

I remember actually crying after playing Godzilla: monster of monsters on the NES with my bro. We had almost beaten Jupiter I think, he was Mothra and had just beat the last level. We were on a team and mothra sucked ass, so he did the hard yards. I was godzilla, should have beaten it...but I died. I felt like I'd let the team down so badly. Shattering

Anyway, I eventually passed Gears on Insane - except for RAAM. Still to this day cannot beat that f'er on insane.

Mario Kart was a killer on the hardest settings. You'd drive a perfect race, only to slightly stuff up 1 corner and you'd come dead last.

RAAM on insane was a joke. I only know one person who beat him on Insane in single player and not co-op. Apparently took my mate two solid hours of trying to kill the bastard.

FIFA 08 I would always ragequit when I started losing badly. I remember playing as West Ham v Inter away on XBL, scored the 1st then the guy proceeded to slot 6 past me, each goal he would just lure out the keeper to a ridiculously wide position then cut it back for a guy to tap it into an empty net. I was screaming at him through the headset the whole time.

I remember playing a 1v1 on Halo 3 once, had the sniper on Guardian, was 3-0 up and pulled off two ridiculous headshots, he then quit and never spoke to me again :D .

I also remember ragequitting at the age of 8 playing Battletoads on the Sega :D .

I put hours and hours, literally hundreds of attempts into RAMM on insane solo, could never quite get him

Many years ago playing street fighter against a mate on the n64 or snes i think.... well one day he was kicking my arse, my blood was pretty much boiling and i was getting pretty frustrated. After he beat me for the umpteenth time i lept out of the chair and booted the tv off the cabinet it was sitting on, the TV slammed into the wall and left a big hole. Man were my parents furious.

Many years ago I played Bubble Bobble on an old system (C64 or something?) - but there was no way of saving, and about 100 levels.

I remember my brother and I playing for 6+ hours, leaving it paused overnight, and then anotehr 5-6 hours the next day.

We made it to the big boss, but only had a life or two left, but somehow managed to find a way to beat it to within an inch of it's life (ok, about two millimetres of health, but it had hardly touched us).

Suddenly the light went out. As did the computer.

Dad was doing some handyman work, and had turned off the main switch.

I don't think we spoke to him for weeks after that. I've never played the game since.

A more recent one was on FM08, managing Australia to the world cup in the future.

We battled through the qualifiers, somehow making the round of 16. Drew Japan first up, and accounted for them easily 2-0.

Round of 8 against England, and beat them 3-1 (including 90th and 91st minute scores)

Semi Final against Argentina, 1-0 up at half-time, red-card in the 60th minute, they scored in the 88th. Extra time had two goals disallowed (off-side). 1-1 and we go to penalty shoot-outs. We're shooting first. Goal! Miss Goal! Save!

We're 3-1 upand any goal or save wins it for us. We miss our next three (including two where the keeper goes the wrong way), and they get two. 5-5 at end of penalties.

We somehow managed to win 8-7.

Come to the World Cup Final for the first time (made semi twice before, 08 and one other).

FIVE players ineligible for match due to yellow or red cards. My entire first choice midfield is sitting in the stands, and I only have 3 subs (including a goalkeeper).

We're playing Brazil.

After 30 minutes, it's 0-0 and neither team looks like scoring. In the 32nd, their keeper goes down injured, and we score. 1-0.

In the 40th, another player is injured, and they replace them. At half-time it's still 1-0.

In the 55th minute they score from a penalty, and our keeper is red-carded.

1-1 up to the 84th minute (us with only 10 players), I've got a bloke up front with only 23% health, and I'm just hoping for penalties.

Then in the 89th minute we score, and I go dancing around the room. (I'm normally pretty damn balanced).

The game goes to 95 minutes in regular time, and they score from long-range after a defensive error. The whistle goes immediately after the following kick-off.

In extra time we have run out of legs, and they pile on 5 goals to win convincingly.

I got fired for the "embarrasing" loss (in the World Cup final no less - when they had four players valued at more than my entire squad).

I haven't played that game since either.

One other one I just thought of (including a save-game ragedelete).

Playing a baseball simulation game, and managing through history. I've built my team into an unrealistically unbeatable force (players in my AA (3rd) team would be solid starters for anyone else in the league), and have won the past SEVEN titles, and 9 out of the 14 contested.

Each year I'm sitting pretty, well under budget, with about 145 million in reserve (modern day equivalent - virtually an entire years worth of revenue).

We make the world series with a 120 game winning season (next best 91), and cruise through to the world series. We race 3-0 up (best of seven), then proceed to completely fall apart, losing four straight, and the title.

I was fired.

My record (over 14 seasons) was about 2500 games, 1750 wins (70% wins), 11 divisional championships, 10 conference championships, nine titles, and a >80% post-season record.

Never run a budget deficit, massive cash reserves, fans ecstatic with team performance, team morale at an all-time high. I was basically the perfect manager.

and they fired me.
