I've been coerced into doing the ice-bucket challenge at work. Staff who make a donation to charity get to dump a bucket of ice water on "management".

"Management" needs to nominate and wear their team colours for it.

I'm the only one who'll be in Swans gear (among a sea of West Coast and Freo) .... and am easily the most popular target for bucket dumping.

Not sure if its a reflection on me, or West Aussie's hatred of the Swans.

Probably me.
"Team colours" you say...

Has anyone else been unable to re-watch the qualifying final win given the way the season ended?

One of the greatest games in the club's history, the most exhilarating game I've attended after the 2012 GF and 2022 prelim, one of the great all time performances from Heeney, and I simply can't bring myself to rewatch it, or even enjoy the highlights.

It's an absolute sickness.
Na, watched that last quarter no less than 20 times this off season. Went through the score worm of all our games and skipped to the moments where we had a run on of consecutive goals for each of the matches. While frustrated at the end we had a ****ing good year otherwise and let's be honest, some of those periods of play throughout the season were ****ing awesome.

Speaking of auskick, how exciting that my son gets his photo with the premiership cup at auskick tomorrow (insert sarcastic tone here) he'll be wearing his swans guernsey.

I just re-watched it the other day to get in footy frame of mind again. I knew it was a great win but I'd forgotten just how many highlights there were. So I wrote them down.

Most were in Q but prior to that were:

Papley's joust with Toby on the half-time siren.
In Q3, Heeney's sliding one-hander mark and then his MOTY with the Buckley life-saving assist.

Q4
Blakey's spectacular spoil
Papley lookaway handball to Hayward - 12-point deficit
Papley setshot goal - back to 12 points
Lloyd 2 bounces on the run and goal from outside 50 - 8 points
JJ cross to Campbell - 7 points
Papley wins 1 v 2, handpass to Heeney, 80m GOTY - scores level
Blakey wins 1 v 2, Papley handpass to Amartey goal- +6pts lead

Plus the Dean Cox goal celebrations.

What a classic.

Everyone talks about how important Heeney was and rightly so, but Papley - WOWEE!

There was a very cool graphic on the screens during Cox's speech in the practice game (and I'm assuming it's been shown elsewhere as it was a message that Cox spoke about in his very first address as coach back in November.)

I reckon a few players operate from bottom-to-top instead.

You should name names.
Personally, I think the correct order should be team (includes the whole list, coaches and managers) then club, then self. The club is more of an abstract concept while the team is real people you're close to. Loyalty is personal.

I feel like club needs to be number one, because that is ultimately what makes the team succeed. It's the conditioning staff, it's the medical staff, it's the coaching staff, the player welfare staff, the administration, etc.

But it's also the 18 year old developing in the VFL, who is nowhere near the senior 22 you run out with each week, but who one day might be, and needs leading and mentoring in the meantime.

And it's the 27 year old battler who is not in the senior 22 you run out with each week, but is valuable depth and needs continued support and encouragement to keep persisting.

And it's the 33 year old veteran in the twilight of his career, squeezed out of the senior 22, who still has valuable experience and leadership to offer before he retires.

Like I said, the WHOLE list, coaches and managers. If you define that plus admin etc as the club fair enough. Hopefully they went through a discussion so they're all on the same page.

Congrats - you have won our 'Earliest poster to ask about the Trade & Draft Thread' competition.:nogood:

A full week into the new year, which I admit we did not see coming🤦‍♀️

At this point we will probs open up the thread in March. Before that please feast your eyes on the Draft & Trade Board which comes with the added bonus of me also modding  I'm sure this will thrill many🎉

Just bumping this in case the mods feel so generous as to allow a thread soon ;)

Would have got 6-8 weeks for that these days. Bit of a big call that it cost us the game.
It affected our forwards big time , Martyn had Plugger and the other rat Archer had COB and MOL was raw , but they had 3 to worry about , with COB out , it allowed Archer to double team Plugger as MOL was so raw . Plugger was still outstanding though , but our whole structure changed . I always believed that we should've played Anthony Rocca , they wouldn't have been able to cope .
I'm certain you will disagree

Agree that King is a dick, disagree re GF.

I hate people calling Corey Warner, Warner Jr. I feel it's insulting to a player who is developing in his own right.
I don't really know what else to call him.

"Corey" feels wrong for a player who is not yet on first-name basis for me. "Warner" is obviously confusing when we have two of them on the list. "Jr." to me simply means that he is the younger of the two, nothing else.

Why never Warner Sr?
