Top 10-20 draft talk seems to be concerntrating on mainly the Onballers and KPP talls. Some clubs will want to pick up or brood key " down back " players , who can both mind their opponent and provide offensive moves for downfield.
Interested to see who is around to fit this description in the TAC , wondering what names to watch out for.

Bongetti of Northern goes very well at FB. He's played the majortiy of this year at FF/CHF and I think he's the tac leading goalkicker, although he played last year at FB, and may well play there at afl level. Missed Vic Metro due to injury, he played in the last trial game but looked very unfit, would have been a certainty if fully fit though.

Darcy Daniher looks pretty decent at CHB, father-son to Essendon/Sydney though, and Hurley has been very impressive at FB for Metro, however he's not eligible until 08.

Don't think I'd classify Bongetti as 10-20, but Hurley may be in that range in 08.

Daniher is the one for mine. Seens the Cannons a few times, and he has been pretty solid down there. Can play up forward, but he just looks more comfortable at CHB.

Rance from WA looks ok, but have only seen him once. Same applies to Pears and Gourdis.

From reading a few posts around here I would have thought Tom Collier would fall in this category.

Looking forward to seeing him play tomorrow. This will be the first time i've seen him play this year. A couple of other Tassie guys i'm keen to look at tomorrow.

thanks Macca, agree on Daniher and he will probably be taken on one of the F/S clubs. Bongetti, I also agree he is flexible , but when he is on at FF , he generally impacts. I am going to Casey on Wednesday , as very curious to see what other potentials line up across back for both VM & VC and particularly whether they have both a defensive and offensive impact on the final game.

i see veszpremi in the 10-20 range and is good across half back, agree that im bias towards northern boys as i see more of them then any one else. daniher is the best key defender in this range with the new father-son bidding system. dont think Bongetti will get drafted in this range tho his versatility could see him a late pickup/rookie

While Veszpremi is handy across the backline it's more in an attacking role. His defensive skills certainly wouldn't be up to what is asked of in this thread. He plays a very exciting attacking game and I agree that he'll be around that 10-20 range, but I doubt his pure defensive skills will be the reason!

Chris Kangars of Geelong falcons/vic country, a full back, was second best for VC against SA and did a good job against Sampey in the second game. He is 194 cms and State 400m champion and 2nd in the 200, so has the size and speed to play in this position at AFL level.

Kangers suits us. We should pick him up. We are desperate for a FB.

Tom McNamara from SA is a good solid backman, dont know if he has the height and body shape to make it in the AFL but plays CHB for SA and got best for them Vs Vic Metro

what about donaldson from the pioneers, i think he has been playing at full back for most of the year but kicked 6 against dandenong last week?

hes a gun, does the job on the best forward week in week out, and after he was finally released into the forward line kicked 6 in just over a half, taking 7 contested marks for the game and looked a class above. had an injury interupted preaseasonbut is now just starting to find match fitness and hit his straps and could be a second round pick this year.

Watched most of that game BP V DS, Donaldson did take some strong contested marks and kicked truly. He was really the only Bendigo standout on that day and Dandenong looked as though they were always in control. If Stingrays do make the final 8 , they may worry a few sides in there, I remember what Chargers did last year.

Dandenongs situation this year is nothing like Chergers in 06. Oakleigh were missing key players all season due to school footy. Smith, Mckay, Goldstein, Sandilands etc. The same will happen this year with Chargers coming home strong. Dandenong have hardly anyone out to school footy, bar a few Peninsula guys like Grant, and will be shown up by better sides in finals.

I had a look at the Draw, Cannons play Stingrays last game and Oakleigh plays Gippsland in the week prior. Both Calder and Gippsland will remain top in top 4 , let's again compare situations then , leading into finals.

From reading a few posts around here I would have thought Tom Collier would fall in this category.

Collier was very good indefence in the first quarter yesterday. He was then moved into the midfield and was just as good in the middle.

Michael Hurley and Hugh Sandilands were both good in defence for Vic Metro against South Australia.

hughey got lost today in the play a few times his man was countrys ruckman and hugh was constantly changing from loose to man on man and though he found it hard to judge what his job was. but he did play alright picked up maybe 10 possies. like to see him more attacking like runnning outa defence, or a quarter on the pill.

bongetti, daniher, bristow... the best three key position defenders in TAC cup when played there. Agreed? :thumbsu::confused::thumbsu:
