Didn't get to see the interview so would anyone mind filling me in a bit on how it went?

EDIT: Never mind, just saw the Michael Nettlefold thread. If Ross honestly thinks that he's done the best he can with this playing group (which would be the biggest load of s*** I've ever heard) then he can go. I'm not convinced he's a premiership type coach anyway and If it means Raph doesn't get a game anymore then it's fine by me.

We're right. Happy if the Dees pinch Lyon:

Last time I checked we still have a coach, a very good coach, a very good coach with a contract, a very good coach with a contract who's already made list changes for next year.

BINGO!! The amount of crap supporters are paying relevance to from the media is pretty funny. Keep buying them papers fellow sainters!!

I hope he goes RL that is........... as to the Replacement as long as its not Eade or Craig I will be content

Its time for a broom to go through the list......... too many players butcher the ball...... to many are one trick pony.

Me personally I would also trade one of Riewoldt/Goddard/Dal boy IF we can get one top 5 pick and another top 20 pick.

No one is ever bigger then the club and the club should always strive to get better bigger richer.........

Important to sort stadium deal NOW we cant operate a successfull club with 40000 members and make a 1.5 million loss JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH

Why would we trade them? That would set us back for years.

For starters I said ONE OFF ....... IF you believe that this particuar group of players cannot win a flag the only way to revitalize is by early draft pick and un fortuntely they are the only viable currency that we have ....... lockett left ion 93 I think 4 years later we played in the GF

Wow I'm amazed that you'd be happier with Brendon Fevola or Elmo the muppet as coach than Lyon, Eade, or Craig.
Personally I think if Lyon did choose to leave at short notice, it could be worth looking at Tudor. He might be getting close to the level of senior coach, and he is already familiar with StKilda ( which would help with the short notice thing ).
Not saying I think Lyon will do it.

Under our previous management ( Butthead and Beavis ) the Saints were very frugal in their spending. This management made a concious decision to spend more on the football department. It means walking the line a bit more financially.

No need to be an arse to each other in the end we all want the same thing PREMIERSHIP we simply all view the game diffrently at times. What I ment to say since I personally dont know some of the candidtaes football quality....... I peresonally dont have a prefernce..... so it would be silly of me to Say I perefer P. Wiiliams ahead of L Tudor for example

On evidence so far Lyon is at the very least considering jumping - otherwise he would have denied it.
So the club would be negligent if it didn't have a contingency plan.

It would be a disaster if Adelaide, Melbourne and the Bulldogs all signed up coaches and we were suddenly then coachless and last in line to secure the best candidate.

I hope he stays too. But Saints fans who think Lyon is a loyal St Kilda man need to WAKE UP.

He has made a career from footy. First as a Fitzroy then Brisbane Bears player, then a coach at Norf, Richmond and Carlton before winning a flag with Sydney. He probably barracked for another club as a kid.

So if he wants to go he will and him and the club will pedal the "I can't take this group of men any further so I'm doing the Saints a favour by leaving" line, probably during grand or preliminary final week.

There is also a strong chance he and Craig Kelly (his manager) are fishing for an attractive deal to stay at St Kilda by flirting with Melbourne and consequently inflating his $$$ value.

Most of us including me hope the latter is the case.

Lyon is not going anywhere. Mike Sheehan is trying to make something of nothing. It seems he often has an agenda and is a renound "hater".

RL is signed, RL will sign and extension. I don't get it, the message from RL, the club and now Nettle's is and always will be the same. "He is signed, we are negotiating, there is nothing more to say".

I don't see how the same message can be interpreted in so many different ways.

Did anyone see On The Couch last night? MS was probing Roos'y for some answers, Roosy - as is the same as everyone else - didn't have any. He did say however that RL is very fond of the club and is extremely close to the playing group.

MS was fishing but went home emptyhanded, yet still wrote this BS article. ****wit.

Still pretty confident Lyon will stay on at St Kilda so discussing coaching replacements now is a bit premature.

If he does decide to leave in the next few weeks we could really be struggling to appoint a good coach at short notice as we will be behind the other clubs looking for a new coach. We'd probably have to go with an untried assistant coach assuming that good, experienced coaches like Malthouse and Roos are unavailable.

Nettlefold didn't sound all that convincing on Footy Classified but you hope that behind the scenes the club is doing everything in it's power to keep Ross at the club.

I don't like this thread but I can't help myself. If the unthinkable was to happen. My preference would be.

1. Brenton Sanderson / 2. Leigh Tudor / 3. Scott Burns

I also think Matthew Knights would be an excellent assistant coach

List them here. That Nettlefold interview has just about convinced me Ross is leaving :(

I am trying to work out why would Nettlefold go on Footy classified to be interviewed by a person who is openly chasing his clubs coach, then get grilled by Thomas and that grub Hutchinson. I saw the interview and if anything Nettlefold was getting really pissed at the Gary Lyon smirk which the camera caught every now and then. For appearances sake Gary Lyon should have excused himself from the interview; but that is called ethics and in the media that is just an anomaly.

Gary Ayres
Mark Williams
Mick Malthouse
Paul Roos

1. Mark Williams – His record speaks for him. Though I don't reckon City Hall would let him leave GWS.

2. Alan Richardson – Responsible for Carlton's improvement in 2011. Picked up Ratten's slack and probably saved his job.

3. Leigh Tudor – Previously at St Kilda so would have inside knowledge on players. Was at Geelong when they first became a powerhouse. Joined St Kilda when we were minor premiers in 2009. Now at Sydney.

4. Rodney Eade – Longest serving coach in history not to win a flag. I think that's more of a compliment than a slur.

When I saw this thread i thought there must of been an annoucement of some sort. Jumping the gun a little. Although there is word on the street Ross was very close to leaving pre-season, as he was fed up with all the scandals. A rumour of course.

He was quick to delist Baker, McQualter and Eddy (I presume the coach makes that decision) so that sounds like a man committed to the football club.

Tudor for mine. Thats if St.kilda needs a new coach and Lyon does indeed coach Melbourne next year.

I'm of the opinion we need a new head coach. Don't flame, just my opinion. We need someone fresh, who is willing to change the game plan, will reward players with games for good form rather than pick the usual best 22, someone who is easy to work with and understanding of the other assistant coaching panel. Also someone who is willing to make some big plays come trade week, rather than just topping up with second hand role players.

I'm grateful for everything Ross has done, but time for someone new.

Maybe Dal Santo or Goddard for captain also.. Probably Dal.

So Milne hasn't denied anything related to his slander previous to his latest denial?

Denial doesn't make the mud immediately vanish from anything but rose tinted glasses and it certainly hasn't stopped anyone from continuing on or going further to prove a point. The status quo, and not giving a damn about rumour mongering rubbish is effectively the best defense against matters as the individuals then get shown up for the make believe faeries they are.

Dream Panel

Mark Neeld (Coach)
Leigh Tudor (Assistant)
Tony Elshaugh (Assistant)
Alan Richardson (Assistant)
Stuart Dew (Assistant)

Chris Pelchen (Head of Football - stays)

As for Captain - Sam Fisher without hesitation!

I think you'd struggle to get Tudor back without a promotion.
No Steven King?
