THE CATS TO HAVE ANOTHER VERY GOOD YEAR BUT WILL ULTIMATELY FALL SHORT DUE TO LACK OF QUALITY FORWARDS. HOWEVER NATHAN ABLETTS EMERGANCE AND THE IMPROVED FORM OF BRAD OTTENS ALONG WITH THE FATHER/SON DRAFTING OG TOM HAWKINS WILL HAVE THE CATS PRIMED FOR A TILT AT THE FLAG IN 2007 AND 2008.

I think that this year is our year, you have no idea how much iam excited, i look at our list daily, thinking of different sides we could put on the park, and there is too many good poeple on our list its a good positive. And with our added bulk to the forward line, i think we have great power to be unbeatable at times.

3. B&F? If we are to play to our best result then fresh names like Ottens or Enright or Chapman be in best 5.However I'd say if I was betting I'd put money down it would be on Scarlett.
4. Most Improved Player? As above , maybe H or Egan.
5. Best First Year Player? Probably Varcoe or it could be somebody like Sam Hunt if Harley gos down with injury.
6. How many goals for N.Ablett? 22-28goals I say 2 a game would be a good average for any kid of his age, height, background let alone his name.But he will probably do better because he is such straight kick
7. How many games for N.Ablett? around 11 games. Probably in and out again, his body still adjusting , mentally still trying declare himself ready to play as a regular.
8. Will Scarlett return to All Australian Full Back? Yes
9. Most Disappointing Player? Any player that wastes his chances will be disapointing so I say KK and Gardiner.Biggest waste of talent maybe Dog Johnson if he plays less than 14.
10. Highest Brownlow Vote Getter? Bartel with 12
11. How many players in the AA team? Only Scarlett
12. Who? as above
13. Win / Loss Ratio? 80%
14. How many games for SJ? 14
15. How many goals for Otto? 32
16. Most Consistent Player? Probably Ling and Scarlett. Id hope it would be King
17. If you were in the stock market which players shares would you buy? Varcoe. Would be very cheep and has the smell of something special. I predict he could be our best ever chance of winning the Rookie award
18. " "sell? Harsh but football clubs always have more player than can fit into the senior side. With Varcoe and Prismall and maybe even Stokes guys like Koola and Byrnes are going to find it tougher to get gigs. If not this year , then next.
19. Most spectacular moment? Who knows, last year looking back it was Ablett to Ablett and that wasnt anything more than a chest mark. For me if we get to lift the Cup it would be unbeatable as a moment.But other than that I'll go for Varcoe to have a run and goal like the old Rockin Ronnie did or another burst from Nathan , he wouldn't be the first Ablett to kick 5 in a quarter

Our on ballers like Bartel,Ablett,Chapman still can improve, Others like Tenace, Mackie and Gardiner need to step out from the shade and draw attention for their onfield performances.Our backline is solid, and our forwardline is building strength. Our weakness is the ruck , if King and Ottens standup I think we can go all the way.

9. Most Disappointing Player? I think the great McCarthy only coz of his shocking run of injuries that he's suffered to date. I believe he has something to offer this side but he just can't string enough games together to prove his worth. On his last chance this year and he knows it but just can't take a trick at the moment. More dissapointed for him, not with him.
10. Highest Brownlow Vote Getter? Enright with 20 votes.
11. How many players in the AA team? 3.
12. Who? Scarlett (FB), Enright (HBF) & Ling (Bench).

16. Most Consistent Player? Chappy. Always gives 110%.
17. If you were in the stock market which players shares would you buy? Ablett's are always a good investment but to make some serious coin I might go with Trent West. Crackers Keenan said that he had done some work with this kid a while ago and kept an eye on where he went come draft time. Said that he was an uncut diamond two years ago and has received some good coaching since (from a former saints reserves ruckman at he's old club). Will lead our rucking brigade in the years to come.
18. " "sell? Probably won't get much for him but I would think that if Spencer doesn't crack the big time this year then a plane home might be on the cards. Last years VFL B&F has some tough competition to compete with to crack into our back 6 and Freo might want to play ball.
19. Most spectacular moment? Any one of Scarletts 6 or so goals he kicks this year whilst his opponent stands 100 meters away.

I won't bother filling it out because I'm not a Cats supporter but I can guarantee you James Kelly will win the B&F.

I rate Kel very highly, but I can see young Gaz taking it this year. If he really is fitter and faster than last year and has his younger bro playing regularly, his game will go up another notch. Jimmy K will be top 3 though.

As it is split round, I thought I would revisit a post that was started prior to the successful NAB Cup campaign. A quick look at most of the predictions, I don't think anybody would have predicted the way the season had turned out so far. (Even though many had claimed to see it coming)

Currently 11th, but seem to be out of the rut and climbing
2. Ladder Position after finals series?
It is going to be a big task to even make the finals
3. B&F?
Currently Ablett, Chapman, Mooney would be vying for the lead IMO
4. Most Improved Player?
You could argue that Gary jnr is the most improved. I think may of those guys we were hoping would come along haven't done so. Egan has continued to improve, and a honourable mention goes to Mark Blake.
5. Best First Year Player?
Matty Stokes at this stage
6. How many goals for N.Ablett?
1.3, lowered his output from last year where he was averaging 2 a game. Looks set to kick a few soon.
7. How many games for N.Ablett?
4 so far, and if continues to improve like he has shown so far shouldn't go back to VFL, so you could expect 12 - 14
8. Will Scarlett return to All Australian Full Back?
Solid start to the year, and his goals against record is exceptional. If Harley can return to the side after the break, Matty can impose himself on games with his run from defence. If the Cats make the 8, Scarlo will go very close.
9. Most Disappointing Player?

Because they are senior players I would have to say the form of Ling and Kingsley during our slump was the most disappointing.

Ablett would be in at this stage.
Champman would be vying for a position against the likes of Pettifer, B.Johnson and Didak. Big second half to the year could see him fall in.
Scarlo - see comment above
Mooney - If he keeps his last months form up, and even increases his goal scoring output he could stake a claim, but unlikely.

8 so far. Again plagued by injury. More than 5 coming in would be a good return.

10 so far. For the Cats to make the finals we would need Brad to finish on 30. This also requires King to play out the majority of games.

There were some feel good feelings about last week. But the 1st half demolition of Brisbane after they came out and tried to rough us up is a highlight.

Big effort required to make the finals. ??? marks still hang over our fitness and mental toughness. The next month is going to tells us alot.

8th -Just holding on to a tiny weenie bit of hope that we will get to play finals... or A final.

If we make it which we really might not probably 8th.

Thats so hard but I'd probably say maybe Blake, Gazza, Stokes, Egan and possibly Rooke.

Stokesy for sure unfortunately Prizza didn't get much of a go.

Is that for the season??? If so ummmmmm 8 goals

7. How many games for N.Ablett?
Played 4 so far so he will play (depending on of Kingsley can find some form) about 6 more games.

8. Will Scarlett return to All Australian Full Back?
Hell yeah! Scarlo is a star!

9. Most Disappointing Player?
Kent Kingsley BY A MILE! His played some very VERY VERY VERY ordinary footy lately. He was lucky to get a game in the snr's last week... he didn't deserve it AT ALL! GRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Hopefully he can turn his season around.

11. How many players in the AA team?
We got dodged last year but this year I think maybe 3-4 if we are lucky.

Gazza for sure. His brilliant!
Scarlo and Mooney would be great in the backline or even Moooondog up kicking goals!

Currently 5 - 7. Probably 12 - 10 at seasons end. Wow I can't believe I'm being so optimistic. If you had of asked me this 3 weeks ago I'd be saying completely different things.

8 so far. I don't really care... I don't like him a whole lot. He seems to stuff easy things and then make magic and fluke everything else and then gets praise form everyone! mmmmmmm to answer the question I'd say like 5 more games possibley if he is lucky. Thompson seems to love him so maybe more.

15. How many goals for Otto?
10 so far. HOPEFULLY he can kick plenty more goals. I'd like to see that figure doubled maybe even tripled. He has been doing us proud in the ruck so it's ok if he isn't getting a whole bag of goals... that supose to be Kingsleys job.

It's actually hard to think of many coz of all the devastating moments during the season so far. THE PAIN! THE PAIN!

20. The final word ...... Have your say.....
Well we have stumbled through the first half of the season and came out in a pretty bad way. My expectations for Geelong this year have been fully crushed, burnt, smashed into smithereens, thrown out the window and run over 1000 million billion trillion times. For some STUPID reason I still have hope. I have no idea how but it's there inside me.

So many players have let me down and other cats supporters so far this season, to name and shame a few Kent Kingsley, Kelly, Lingy (part of the season anyway) and Mackie. Theres plenty more but IMO they are had let me down the most PARTICUALLY KENT KINGSLEY!

So far this season we have welcomed back Will Slade and Woja and have introduced Prizza (for a very short time in the snr's), Stokesy and Spencer to the srn team. I love seeing these young guys improve so much. Hopefully they can get more of a go during the rest of the season and really contest our usual snr's for spots. We want a strong team and we need our players to fight hard for positions in the snr's. NO PASSENGERS!

Hope there isn't more heartbreak to come but I'm getting prepared for it just incase.
