Like I said,Jas-i headed for the exit at 1/2 time.Good result I reckon as it will be a rude wake up call for the VAFA and SA will be encouraged.Crowd numbers very disappointing though.
I think the SA team played with a lot more desire, passion and pride in the State jumper and wanted to prove a point today. The VAFA didn't get going at all and only kicked 5 more goals to make the score look a lot more respectable. In hindsight, the VAFA should've played in the AFL Victoria Championship as a warm-up to the State game.

In hindsight, the VAFA should have demanded the game was played in Ireland.

Would've got the same size crowd and the SAAFL probably wouldn't have sprung for the cost of the tour so we would've won by default.

Ask Joe Public in VAFA land how much they care about Rep. Footy, I reckon the answer is SFA!

I'll have a Coopers green or three tonight to toast the Croweaters' victory though.

And that was SA's first win over the VAFA at Senior level in Melbourne since 1995.

How did the coach perform in the first half DD?
Look, its very easy to be critical when this sort of result happens BUT i went to both huddles at 1/4 time. You could sense that SA were starting to believe that they weren't going to be steamrolled so their coach just kept reinforcing the game plan.No surprise SA were in front at 1/4 time as they had the scoring end and should've have been further in front as they missed 3 easy ones.Over at the Big V it was the whiteboard up with all the supposedly relevant numbers on display which apparently they were happy with.Easy to get the impression they just thought things would just fall into place.Hate to think what former coaches like Gus Mitchell,Peter O'Donahue or even the relatively mild Barry Richardson would have said to them!As i said the best thing about today is that the old Vic v SA rivalry at senior level has started a new life.

The only interest I had was that the 3 blokes from my team did not get injured and grateful that the other 2 picked in the squad declined.

Well done to blokes who made themselves available and fronted up to represent the comp but I think we all know that the VAFA could have picked an equal if not better team made up of those who did not play. The season is just so ridiculously long that you can’t blame anyone for wanting to sit it out this weekend and re-charge for the 2nd half of the year.

I tend to agree with DD - I reckon the next time the states meet the VAFA will be very keen to avenge.

In sure there are some players who like to play, but as its a nothing event for 99% of us it's not surprising what happened today. I don't care about it at all, but as I like this forum I'm commenting.

Especially when you consider the fact that the SANFL State team defeated the VFL in the State League game last week in Adelaide , and now the SA Amateurs have beaten their Victorian counterparts at Sandringham today.

The SANFL have more often than not had the measure of the VFL so no surprise there. The real strength of any competition is reflected at CLUB level. At the moment the top SAAFL clubs would be very lucky to avoid relegation in our A grade-which makes their victory yesterday even more meritorious.Even more so to do it over here!

SA's win over the VAFA yesterday has now sent alarm bells ringing at Sportscover Arena.

When you take into account last year the VAFA lost to AFL Vic Country, then decided not to take part in the AFL Victoria Championships and now the Croweaters winning in Melbourne-and their first win at Senior level, in of all places, Melbourne since 1995-it makes you wonder is the VAFA really 100% committed to representative football now than in previous years.

If you want an indication of how much SA wanted to win against the VAFA, you only needed to go into the Croweaters huddle at 1/4 time, because the SA team sensed they could cause an upset.

The VAFA team were more looking like going through the motions, and it wasn't until the last quarter they started to slam several goals on the board-but by then the horse had bolted.

I have it from good authority that Milne was not invited and wasn't worried about it until last weekend when vafa reps came to Beauy's game pleading with him to play. He said thanks, but he had made other plans.
Stephen Milne would've been very handy for Victoria yesterday. The SA defense cut the VAFA to shreds, and the Vics forward line was hopeless.

Not hopeless,Jas just too ONE dimensional.Handley(a great rep servant) and Goss are both lead up types who need good service.I've thought that in spite of the VAFA's recent good record in rep games(EFL,NFL) the forward line has been a weakness lacking real potency. No one who you'd be wary about playing against in the sense that they might come from nowhere and stand on your head(that's in the context of an aerial contest!).No one seems to play tall anymore, so when you pick a team of ruck rover types thinking you can throw them forward and all of a sudden they will become specialist goalkickers.....you're doomed.

If you posters on BigFooty was the VAFA selection committee, would you have picked a different team compared to the Victorian side that lost to the SAAFL yesterday at Sandringham?

you are wrong, as much chance of that as SKOBS kicking more than 10 goals

That doesn't make any sense. In the last 4 games SKOB have kicked 60 goals with 3 of them being greater than bags of 10, including 3 wins.
So are you saying BS is correct because SKOB have kicked more than 10 goals 3 of last 4 weeks??
So you are contradicting yourself about Milne. Wierd.

Can anyone tell me why there was no big v under 23s this year and will it be returning next year ?

It's an easy mistake to make.

I myself just checked out the VAFA Rep football section of the website and the complete absence of any reference there to u23 or B-D4 football for 2016 may be considered misleading by some.

I guess they spent heaps of coin on Ireland and forgot to budget for the other junkets.

Blues to beat Wesley by 5 goals and almost lock away a finals birth.
OM's to keep their finals dream alive with a big win against the hapless Panthers.
SKOB to beat The Blacks in a tight one.
Xavs to put a nail or three in the Snowdogs coffin.
De La in a classic at the Bell as Tribity start to get the shakes. Come back Scribe...they were rock solid when you were around...

Agree with Canada except for Xavs. Bernies will be fighting for their "A Grade lives". Xavs have gone backwards...
Bernies by less than a goal..
