The old guard couldn’t give a rats tossbag. You don’t understand the APS.
The Kings arent gonna bring Haileybury back up. APS flags don’t flow to Ammos. Scholarships win APS flags.
Xavs always have kids from school flowing into Ammos. Hence why they do so well in the Unders. They are all school kids playing together.
Don’t let any hate of Xavier upset you. Yes all and sundry were handed their ass on a plate by them in decades past. So what. See a councillor if you can’t let it go. Most have and just now enjoy life.
Agree to disagree re the school. Hate towards Xavier doesn't apply or worry me at all as it's not my colour. I was just making a point that the old guard can't do anything about it except call out from the stands "kick it up the line" haha. All good brother, don't get too uptight, it's Friday and that means "ladies night"!!

I reckon the old guard couldn't care less, thervve obviously had there time don't you reckon. You'd think it's the new age who should give a hooter? And why does everyone bring up the school team. They've been horrid for years and they seem to produce fairly handy players. Don't the Geelong schools now run rampant at APS? Look where the old boys are sitting!!
Haileybury have dominated the APS competition for the last 3 seasons, yet their old boys hang by a thread in Premier B. Heaps of their old boys do not graduate to VAFA football.

Scholarships don’t buy loyalty, especially if you’re catching a bus from Rye. Anyway, let’s not derail the thread, a pretty harsh call from the young and inexperienced Old Xavs President, perhaps it’s time he fell on his sword and moved on.

Their rushed decision to appoint Satterly last year caused huge angst amongst the playing group, with a threatened player mutiny only avoided when one of Satterly’s assistants was removed without his prior knowledge a month before the season started.

In the few games I saw this year I noticed Satts and Byrne didn't operate together. The former mostly in an elevated position and the latter on the boundary. With Byrne being the most assertive and appeared to be making most of the game day calls.

Think Satts is better out of that environment. He won't have a problem finding a new home.

FWIW ha ha this is a classic. Has anyone actually watched how Byrne behaves on the sidelines. Gold!

Tend to agree on this one. Obvious a draught of 4 years - seriously, is that really unacceptable? hasty decisions are made in a hot kitchen.....Berry axed post premiership, Hawkins and co axed post premiership, Swtterly axed no more need to be said. Anyway, the sun will rise tomorra

This is a disgrace from Old Xazs!! From almost relegation in 18 to 3 points away from a GF in 19 and the twos win a flag!! So what should be the expectation on a new coach after the 18 year?? Obviously a flag! This will be 9 senior coaches in 8 years...and they want stability??? This is what happens when you put a young president in place who does not consult before making a decision. Satterley is the best coach in the ammos and is treated like this?? Speak to the players...in such a short time they love him. Only old Xavs treat people like this. You are better off out if that place Satterley. Good luck Byrne...you will need it!!

As I'm quite surprised by this, i need to understand this clubs thought process. I remember they had at least 8 different coaches in the 90's having played against them. Yet won 6 flags. Strange times

I recall a suggestion that Satts didn't get his way with all the assistant coaching appointments. Not a good start to his coaching stint at OX if that was so.

Xavs have probably done him a favour. Better out of the joint.

Came here to have a look at the comments, expecting some quality OX love from the permanently obsessed such as Briza but boy I didn’t expect it to be this good. What I can’t work out is who didn’t re-appoint the coach? Was is it the old guard/dark forces? Or the “young president”?
Always been tough for “outsiders” to coach at Xavs. Even Jock McHale only lasted two years at the helm. Thanks for your interest fellas.

ONE NORTH - ONE SOUTH

ONE PLAYED FINALS

INTEGRITY EYE

With the VAFA Integrity unit on the job I bet those clubs are shaking in their boots. Pretty hard to hide players in the top divisions so assume it is in the lower grades Mr Eye?

Have avoided weighing into the Satterley discussion but I know what happened and how I happened. Won’t air it hear but other than to say it is bloody shameful way to treat such a decent person.

They played on the points limit all year and still came up short. Not sure how they can close the gap next year. And Hipp please don't give me the tired old line about good ressies and unders. There is a chasm between seniors and 2s/19s these days and we know the only way to bridge the gap is to top up with some elite talent.

The old dummy signatures might have caught them out. Couple of clubs have been demoted and officials banned in the past. Easier to get away with it down lower as The Gun says. Interesting from afar.

Great reading gents. Nice October theories. James Byrne..wonderful appointment! Very passionate AFL man. Can see him doing some great things down at Toorak Park next year.
Will be very tight and exciting at the top again in 2020. I expect to see Xavs there again when the whips are cracking..

Correct, outsider was stabbed in the back by assistant who had better connections with the Prez! No player was consulted, but cannot see any leaving as most are OX boys! I just feel for Satterley as he is a premier proven coach who can look people in the eye and deliver a tough message. He had step changed the culture in 8 months!! Byrne may be good with special comments, but stepping up to make tough calls in the moment as the top dog will be the real test here! All the best.

CAME TO LIGHT AND DISCUSSED AT AFL GRAND FINAL IN THE MEMBERS. ALL EARS NOT EYES.

RUMOUR/TRUTH IS THAT VAFA INVESTIGATING 2 CLUBS FOR PLAYING UNREGISTERED/INELIGIBLE PLAYERS IN THEIR SENIOR DIVISIONS REPEATEDLY DURING THE REGULAR SEASON IN WINNING GAMES.

INTEGRITY EYE?
