Well I was being optimistic, not sure on this season should be competitive especially at home but looking to the future, so should be interesting.
I always like your takes on things NB, in terms of the future, what specifically do you want to see this year?

Barrass up forward with his leap, good aerial judgement, wing span and strong hands would pose a fair old headache for defenders IMO.

But I'd still prefer having him a lockdown defender, because Fatboy has proved time and time again it's not his pun intended jam.

Harry can take the 200cm forwards as a lockdown defender.

Barrass I feel could add more than just a lockdown defender.

The next swingman?

We've drafted okay / well , with good reports on some of the draftees so more then competitive and a look at the future will be this season .

BUT my hidden hope is we surprise , regroup and contend .

Any person that does/says those things simply cannot be reasoned with or educated.

They aren't your normal rational person. They'll never change, just something wrong upstairs.

Poor old Ryans copped a bit, and he's only been on the list for 3-4 years.

You've hit the nail on the head, there's always going to be at least 5% of society made up of absolute silly fellows social meida has just increased their platform.

If it comes to one of the kpds playing up forward it should definitely be mcgovern
He's a lot quicker off the mark than barrass and is the best stop gap measure

They are both similar players but Gov is a VC and we have built our defense around him. Gov leads the backline. JK leads the forward line. Nic leqds the midfield.

We then have a general in each section of the ground.

I’m sure our ex-premiership captain could lead the backline.

It’s about balance and partnerships. I’d much prefer Barrass-Edwards than McGovern-Edwards if it comes to that.

I must admit I have stated that teams have worked out McGovern / our intercept marking backline. And McGovern has struggled to adapt and evolve. 2021 we now know hewas hampered with a hip issue that needed surgery so he wasnt fit.

Gov looks much fitter this preseason to be sure.

I can see Gov playing both CHF and CHB this years, as well as Barrass.

If its working continue. If one is struggling make a switch. And nothing invigorates a backman more than playing forward......... :thumbsu: :thumbsu:

Hope they've been working on a new plan with Gov re the intercepting and loose back man thing? It's been worked out, but while that's what back talls do - intercept mark and redistribute, maybe he could be more attacking out of the backline (with the help of others)?
He can cover ground pretty quick, reckon he can be fit as anyone else but will always have his 'chub'. He did mention he was working harder on his fitness and it wasn't about losing weight. So maybe they're looking at him running the ball out more, taking the game on?

Encouraging to see Barrass switching forward in the intraclub as it likely means we’ll be playing all of McGovern, Barrass and HEdwards together in the 22 when the real stuff begins (which I reckon should of happened last year)
