Nope.

The day the training HQ went up, was the day any chance of a return ended.

As others have said, the Gardiner stand is in terrible shape and the stadium is far behind in standards etc it would be a far too great a mission and price for the club.

To make it work imo, you would have to pull down the Old stands and build new ones including media bowes, corporates etc (except for legends which is in good shape) capacity would have to be 25k at a minimum...(currently 17-18k)... play GC GWS Port Freo there. Would love to watch a curtain raiser as someone else said...

*Plus the sooks that live around the ground would winge.

Yea imagine a crowd of 30k trying to navigate back through royal Pde and lygon street.

3 words: Metro Rail Tunnel.

Vote at the next state election for whichever party aims to scrap the East-West tunnel and put in railway stops at Princes Park and Melbourne University.

All of the games played on the weekend would fit into a 40k seat stadium.

Just sayin'.

If we aren't going to play there again we either need to:
-look after it, clean it up a bit have some respect for our home. If I lived closer I would call the club and offer to do it on my days off as long as they provided the skip etc.

- Tear it down. We can't have such a structure surrounded by picturesque Park land look like this, rotting seats, smashed windows, etc I love going there for the memories (you can even see my seat in one of the photos of the ground from the stands) but it hurts to see it like this.

I think a clean up PP committee, even a petition needs to be started.

Agree with this, if we aren't going to ever return lets at the very least preserve and maintain what we have.

FFS the club are lazy, dumping rubbish and not maintaining the toilets at the very least.....but then having VFL and NAB challenge games there is just dangerous and filthy.

I'd love to be involved in helping clean and repair it (Cabinet maker with plenty of painting exp) and get it into a reasonable shape where you can walk around and enjoy the old place.

START THE PETITION HD ;)

I'm not very handy but I am very bossy, so surely I can help somehow.

When I'm up that way next I'll go survey all the damage again and go from there but the club isn't going to do something about it so someone has to.

I'm all up for a clean up crew of BF posters but if need be I'd try and tackle what I could on my own.

Surely there can be a business case made for a return to a boutique stadium given the AFL puts more value on TV coverage rather than fan attendence at games.

1. Get rid of the loss making Shitihad stadium deals for small crowds
2. Can be used by us, Dogs, Roos etc for interstate games that draw low crowds
3. Set it up similar to Cats stadium so profits can be made from small attendences
4. Reduce the losses being made from low crowds means less equalisation payments required
5. We would increase profit from games being near social club facilities again
6. For a share in the cost, the AFL could take a share of the profits
7. Reduce the need to spread games over 5 days due to lack of suitable grounds
8. Saturday 2pm games back on in Melbourne, no need to play at night and annoy residents

This is only a thought starter, hope there are some smarter people out there that could turn this into a proper proposal. Those with a hankering for the good ol' days would love the opportunity to introduce a whole new breed of supporters to suburban footy. I assume a natural rise in the sale of hot peanuts as well.

Never been to Princes Park but would genuinenly be interested in helping to keep the place up to scratch.

Kouta runs Kouta fit club out of PP at the moment, it's pretty much a cult which is a front for him pushing herbalife products. I don't see why we can't just get a few tips out the front and then get the cult members to move all the waste as part of their exercise.

I think PP being redeveloped will be used by the AFL as a bargaining chip when they try to purchase Etihad stadium. If the board has a good plan in place, some money and support from the local council there is a possibility that actually redeveloping PP will look like a good option for the AFL. We gonna hear a lot more about this either way, even if it isn't realistically feasible.

I think we as supporters need to decide which direction we want to go. If we start putting pressure on the board and voicing our opinions and donations then maybe playing at PP isn't such a pipe dream. Viva La Princess Park!

Princes!!!

sorry, tis a pet hate of mine to see it spelt incorrectly. ..
I actually had to go back and fix my posts before hitting send. My phone auto corrects princes for princess

We treated Hawthorn, Footscray and Fitzroy very badly when they were hosting games at Princes Park. I don't think any other club would really want to re-visit those arrangements.

I know that the Western Bulldogs still harbour considerable angst about Carlton particularly the Administration.

that was around 30 years ago.

No access to Social Club and Members areas. Some other things as well (I tune off when I hear the vitriol spewing forth). Let's just say that we treated these clubs with disdain like we were doing them a favour. The money grab from the Blues was also unpalatable for these clubs. Still leaves a sour taste in opposition's mouths. This is one of the reasons why we are so hated.

Haha great idea. Free labour. I wonder if they did a working bee how many people would rock up.
