We got B Connolly with our PSD pick, so the OP is wrong. Head was drafted with our first round rookie draft pick.

Geez another Connolly....

This one's a ruckman isn't he?

On the D&T board it has Head as our PSD pick - are you sure Connolly's not the first rookie for us?

I am defeinitely sure, go check the AFL site. We have Connelly with our PSD pick and head with our first round rookie pick.

The club is obviously trying to prepare themselves post-Longmuir.

Pick 37 - C Mourish! (Dunn still available?)

Holy shit - this has been unexpected.... I seriously thought he'd be cut loose.

Connelly is the only one that could have been predicted... and not him specifically, just a young ruckman to develop on the rookie list...

from mr quigley..

56. Fremantle – Brent Connelly DOB 24/2/89 Ht 200 Wt 85

I expect Fremantle to take a ruckman at some stage this year given that they really only have two legitimate rucks on their list. Given I have gotten to 56 without them taking one I guess it had better be here. Again there is a fair bit of potential with Connelly and he also has the ability to go forward and kick goals which would appeal to the Dockers who could use that from their rucks.

Connelly started the year slowly but by the end of the year he would have gotten the attention a lot of teams given the role Ottens played for Geelong this year. It is possible that he could develop along similar lines and be a ruckman who can go forward and be a very dangerous forward. The Champs would not have helped him too much given that he backed up McEvoy in the ruck for Vic Country but was not particularly impressive. For Gippsland though he played in the ruck for most of the year yet still managed to be one of their leading goal kickers. He will run good routes in the forward line and when he gets the ball he is a good kick for goal. He had trouble with his hands early in the year but seemed to improve in this area over the year as his confidence improved. He is very light for a ruckman and is probably going to need a couple of years in the gym before he is ready for the AFL.

And my man McGinnity........

I feel rather uninspired by this lot we drafted today - toasters did good... which makes it even worse...:o ;)

They seem to do well in every draft. They have gone a long way towards rebuilding their midfield this off season.

Pratt is a 183cm Mid/Def

thats all i can find. anyone remember seeing him at the u/18 champs?

Of course, anything can happen from this point on... and even if Josh Head is an inspired choice and he ends up playing 100+ games for us... at this point in time I'd take McGinnity every day of the week ahead of him. McGinnity has the potential to be a 12 year player... we'll get maybe 5-6 from Head and that's with everything going well. Gotta hand it to Woodhouse, that's for sure.

Pratt from Swans - anyone know anything about him?

2 down, 2 to go....

We know it won't be Collard - will it be Dunn and/or Mourish??

Pratt, IMHO, is a very, very good back pocket, in the David Hart style. Controlled the backline for Swans in the Colts GF this year, good overhead marks and mops up well, I was really impressed with his game. You could have a steal here if he continues to develop like I saw him over this year and handles AFL level.

Bit early for that.. Maybe there's a reason every club decided against him 7 times in the draft, including us. If he turns out a gun, then we'll hand it to Woody. Maybe he's crap.

True that... I meant overall actually. But yeah, I guess if it falls in your lap cos everyone else has passed... then it's just as much luck as anythi.ng
