Theoretically, we should be insanely dangerous and productive forward of centre with the likes of Balla, Crozier, Schlothe, Mellington, Pav, Neale etc down there.

I believe we've got the drive in the midfield to get enough of the ball forward, we just need to tighten up in defense and move the ball out of there. Hopefully King and Dawson will help with this.

Could be a good draft period?

I've seen a few people suggest Neale as a forward... is this in a pocket or on a flank?

Love the pre-seson, post-draft optimism :) Mostly potential at this stage with Balla and Pav being the only proven players. Crozier, Schlothe and Neale haven't played a game yet and Mellington has only a couple which haven't proven he is a reliable forward option yet. As another poster replied, put Mayne and Fyfe in there and has a little more grit. I agree though with the potential of the players.

You do know what theoretically means don't you???

True, we've got a helluva lot of small forward potency in these picks. Chuck in Walters, Mayne & Fyfe rotating through there and competition's going to be tough.

I forgot about Walters but Mayne I deliberately left out due to my reference to us being productive. If he can create opportunities for others via pressure then great but his goal kicking is crap.

And yeah, Fyfe (who's not a great shot on goal either) playing mostly mid and floating through there will be awesome.

Bit defensive, huh? Your implied theory that unproven players can step up and play at a consistenetly high level in the AFL has been proven wrong more often than not.

Yeah, I agree... he's pretty useless when it comes to kicking for goal

I realise that. That's why I wrote "theoretically", perhaps I should've used the term "potentially". Sorry about that.

Still says Clancee's 93 kegs for only 184cm. Either it's outdated or I wouldn't mind seeing him lose some more.

Muscle weighs more by volume than fat does. So, a square inch of solid muscle will weigh more than a square inch of solid fat.
might work??

Maybe true but wishful thinking all the same. Crowley was more muscle than needed and it didn't help his game. Excess Weight is excess weight and that's all it is in this game when you need to be able to run 12-16km's per game, an extra 8-10kg's is gonna be a big hindrance to carry over that distance especially when it's full of gut running.

Personally I think crowley was fat last year. But I do agree Clancy was built up way to much. I am pretty sure that is what Lyon was insinuating when he suggested that the guys would be given physiques suitable for the AFL. i.e. not a rugby shape. Clancy is in great shape at the moment from what I have seen. If he is 93kg at that shape he should be fine.

He's done the job in the past at times.
He was always a bit heavy which affected his mobility.

He seems to have addressed that. Hopefully with good results

Agreed, can't help but like Clancee. Glad to have him back :thumbsu:

Seems like it wasn't a bad RD, Spurr and Shlothe seems to be rather highly rated and I'm a fan of Menegola.

You know how we often comment that we never draft any solid, muscular players and the Eagles always seem to have solid players? It's because we pass on them. I'm happy with how the rookie draft went but I just hope he doesn't turn out to be a star that we could have got as a real bargain.

Looked like a massive airhead from the interview on 10 just now. Won't be crying myself to sleep tonight over not taking him. There's a reason he went so late, just another BF favourite IMO.

I didn't see the interview. Only time will tell but you just wonder what GWS saw in him.

The corporation down the road have question marks on Darling last year sliding to them, and Tunbridge, draft tampering?
Wooden spoon to top four, my guess is there will be alot of homesick boys
wanting to go home next year.
At least Menegola didnt walk out on Hawthorn.
