Ben Cousins is a deadset champion footballer and will add a new dimension to the Richmond team.
He is my favourite non-collingwood player so i was spewing when we didnt pick him up.

However, you blokes are absolutely kidding yourselves if you think Benny Cousins will get through the year playing like a gun & lifting you to a Prelim or something, without controversy or incident! Nup, Melbourne is probably worse for the bloke than Perth, doesn't anyone remember the Crown episode, more underworld figures here than you can poke a stick at, more drugs, more public scrutiny, more media attention. I have my doubts. Once a drug-addict, always a drug-addict, that combined with the bloke's huge arrogance....it wont take much for him to slip off the edge, mark my words. It was funny seeing Richo talking him up I'm sure he said at one stage he didnt want him, but thats typical Richmond.

Second - Polak was a great swap. We got him and Riewolt who we would have taken anyway.

Third - Morton is youth. Pick 31 and already has taken over the dud Kayne.

Fourth - Tuck was 2nd in AFL for clearences in the 2nd of football last year. Under rated by all outsiders - like yourself

Fifth - Johnson was our captain.

Sixth - Cousins is a GUN. And is fit and ready to go.....

Todays herald sun, some clown has written in the superfooty blog how he cant stop laughing at richmond at how we picked fiora and tambling over pavlich and buddy, and now doing the same with cousins......what have we given up for cousins?????

we had the last pick in the pre-season draft and picked him up for our last spot on our list. Craig Cameron went on to say we had promised a delsited player a spot on our list (i am guessing gourdis) who we got anyway on our rookie list who can be promoted once polak goes on the long term injury list!

What really happens if ben cousins turns into a flop?? we havent lost anything by it, we have given him another go at his footy career, gotten plenty of publicity and had people jump on the richmond bandwagon for memberships and a better chance of picking up our other sponsor.....

who will be laughing in the long run if he gets back to his best footy when we get about 35,000 members, a sponsor contributing $800,000 a year and plenty of buzz around the club...... enough said

Could you please point out the superstar that come from pick 31 last year?

Could you please point out why taking Polak and swapping our first picks - picking the player we were always going to take is a problem?

Could you please point out who would have been better then Shane Tuck with such a late pick in the draft?

I would never defend a crap proformance. I wanted finals like everyone else and was dissapointed when we missed out.

So hawks did recruit and 120kg player, but thats ok? Becasue its not Richmond?

Just watched the press conference.
Seriously I forgot how much of a confidence boost and work ethic he can add to a team.

Seems to really have his head screwed on right and with the Tigers positioned as they are now, with a great young squad and maybe playing finals football (hopefully) just around the corner, I think the experience and drive he may provide could be just as valuable as his playing ability.

Seemed very earnest answering questions and realistic in his assessment.
