anyone picked it up?

Looks like it would be an interesting read.

Was not surprised on his mental state post Hughes death. He looked mentally cooked and was never the same afterwards.

Seems like he hasn't done the usual thing of squirming away from the issues.

Looks like he didn't like Invers either

His Kato blow up was clearly everyone else's fault - according to the book.

Any mention of why him and Symonds fell out; or is he seriously blaming that on Symonds wanting to be Captain?

Did he admit he was a shit VC to Punter?

Any comment on the Packer Yacht thing?

The VC thing - yes he did. I didn't read the Katich blow up as him shifting the blame. He does still think he was justified by anyone reading would realize he comes across as a bit of a w***er. Having said that i've been out drinking with sporting teams many times and these things happen all the time. Normally pretty funny actually.

“…But Huss and Kato seem to be enjoying the delay more and more, particularly at my expense. I think I hear them say something like ‘F--- it, let’s make him wait a bit longer’.

“And then I lose it.

“‘Hang on, you’re doing this out of spite, you f---ing dogs. Have the balls to say it to my face.’

“Kato fires up. ‘What did you say?’

“‘I said have the balls to say it to my face, you weak c---s.’

“Kato marches across the room and grabs me by the shirt collar. For a few seconds, we glare at each other and mutter obscenities. If he ever wanted to hit me, now is his chance, with me having a beer in each hand and my arms around my teammates’ shoulders. But he walks away. I stay in the circle.

“Then Huss says, from the corner, ‘Look, the moment’s not right, we’re not going to do the song right now.’

“I put my beers down, grab my bag and walk out.”

That Katich thing always seemed like a both at fault sort of thing, of course the media picked on Clarke because he was a 'pretty boy' (which is rubbish, although that thing he was dating at the time didn't help him.) and Katich had 'Aussie grit' whatever that means.

So he books them into a bar that none of them seem to give a **** about (I don't believe that, still think it was Bingle related); Huss and Kate are having fun, but obviously that's only to piss off Clarke.

He calls two of the best blokes out dogs and campaigners?

He's crushing two beers, and has his arms around the boys and doesn't move them when Kat storms over?

i've gone full circle. First i was thinking Clarke is a prat. But after consideration i thought Katich was out of line for grabbing him by the throat. But Clarke's new version has me firmly back in Kat's corner.

The only tumour in the Australian side was Michael Clarke. Not Shane Watson. Clarke was a soft **** who only had three great years when he toughened up by going to boot camp.

That's 3 more than most other people. He was a very good Test batsman.

clarke was a strokeplayer/maker
katich had the awkward shuffle and like to angle balls around. looked cramped at times, hence the grit.

if someone is coming at me aggressively (with or without scarf) i'd take stock and stand accordingly. Having arms around shoulders of other men leaves your body open to body blows.

Begs the question, who was clarke holding at the time?

Here's the team and my thoughts

Hayden - maybe
Katich - obvs not
Ponting - could be
Hussey - he wanted to make clarke wait for the lulz
Clarke
McDonald - test debut
Haddin - probably
Johnson - dunno
Hauritz (no spin) - probably
Siddle - im thinking no. but maybe not.
Bollinger (before his vicious sledge @ hughes) - test debut.

Here's some additional info from huss

"I wished in hindsight that he'd come up to me and said, 'Huss, can we sing the song, we need to hurry up and go'. I would have been more than happy to sing the song straight away and let them go. While I was completely oblivious to Pup's mounting panic, Kato was on the other side of the room with a clear view of Pup talking to Steve Bernard and getting frustrated.

The idea that Huss would be making Clarke wait just to be a prick doesn't ring true in the slightest. At some point, when you have made enemies of so many people widely regarded as good blokes, so you have to strat wondering if you are, in fact, the campaigner.

it could be true.

I can't even imagine Clarke with 1 beer in his hand let alone 2,they must of being warm or maybe it was a west coast cooler instead.

Plus Katich is the tough son of a police man and Midland-Guildford is his local team.

Clarke bleached his hair, drove sports cars and had a high maintenance model fiancee.

Clarke was genuinely a tough bastard on the field

the bouncers he copped against South Africa and to keep playing was one of the bravest things i've seen. He was horribly out of nick and getting peppered.

You don't play Test Cricket if you lack the balls to do so. Anyone calling a Test cricketer soft really has no idea.
