sounds like it used to be much easier to get relegated!

Toucan Soup ?Article mentions ?longest losing streak in QAFL. Not the longest losing streak in QAFL. Western Magpies (Sherwood) lost 42 in a row (last 6 games in 2003 before relegated and winless in 2009 and 2010). Mounties won last game in Round 15 2023, so I reckon they have lost 41 in a row
Any updates on this ?
I’d say a different comp Doc, definitely lost all games in 09 and 10 which I put down to poor coaching….Also we played in the QAFL in 2004 reckon we won 7 games and were 2 games out of the finals with the reserves playing finals and colts maybe winning it (can’t quite recall) then had 3 drafted same year but were on the rise onfield probably not off it…before going to the piney cup in 2005 which was fantastic and loved the real tribal competition atmosphere… but cost us a generation of players that would have made us more sustainable.. even though NEAFL was whole different kettle of fish on not for us …which only Aspley Redland and Southport survived… now we are financially healthy and no longer losing players to qafl clubs (due to higher level) hopefully some sustained success will follow… been 5 years since playing in finals, interesting that the QAFL now is a hybrid of those comps …Article mentions ?longest losing streak in QAFL. Good summary PG (maybe a bit harsh on the coach of the time...I’d say a different comp Doc, definitely lost all games in 09 and 10 which I put down to poor coaching….Also we played in the QAFL in 2004 reckon we won 7 games and were 2 games out of the finals with the reserves playing finals and colts maybe winning it (can’t quite recall) then had 3 drafted same year but were on the rise onfield probably not off it…before going to the piney cup in 2005 which was fantastic and loved the real tribal competition atmosphere… but cost us a generation of players that would have made us more sustainable.. even though NEAFL was whole different kettle of fish on not for us …which only Aspley Redland and Southport survived… now we are financially healthy and no longer losing players to qafl clubs (due to higher level) hopefully some sustained success will follow… been 5 years since playing in finals, interesting that the QAFL now is a hybrid of those comps …
) - certainly the Pineapple Cup was a super comp for a 10-12 yr period and a real good 2nd tier of footy that supported the QAFL standard very well.Log in to remove this Banner Ad

Has anyone started up a 2026 one yet?QAFL forum thread page counts per year. Averaged over 100 pages per year for last 5 years except for this year. Dramatic post drop off in the 2025 season/year. Why the sudden drop off in interest? No one posting reports of new recruits for clubs this year for example?

no drop off in interest but from 2020 we have had a qafl tipping comp where some 25 posters lodged their tips each home and away game up till season end 2024 . then in 2025 tipsters had the choice of logging their tips this way or via a tipping website . as a result tipsters using the old method dropped to about 10 plus and 15 plus tipsters used the tipping website..QAFL forum thread page counts per year. aspley have lost some 10 of their best players ,,one would think they will drop off .....Noosa have a lot of recruits that may well not be up to qafl senior level......palmy ok, surfers looking good ,,,broady have picked up some decent recruitsGood summary, but I think you missed Maroochydore.
Noosa looks to have a big “ins” list, Morningside 2 high quality bookends, Palmy will be hungry after missing the GF, Swallow a big in for Surfers, Aspley pick up Bastinacs.
Zac Tanner giving up the serenity?Maroochydore:
Ins: Matt Gaul (Noosa), Zack Shelton (Golden Square), Zac Tanner (Bonnie Doon), Sam McLachlan (North Warnambool), Andrew Hutchinson (North Cairns), Ryan Haberecht (Overseas), Luke Saunders (Aspley), Lachie O'Dwyer (Aspley), Jake Simons (PBC), Reef Bourn (Burnie Dockers), Will Brohm (Sandhurst), Bailey Murray (Glasshouse Hinterland Lions), Cam Simpson (Lancaster), Hugo Papst (Sebastopol), Lachie O'Keefe (Sebastopol), Riley O'Keefe (Sebastopol), Joel Docking (Cairns Saints).
Outs: Josh Govan (Macedon)
I think the number of FIFOs from the QAFL is around 38 Stuyd so a pretty alarming number. AFLQ and AFL Vic are in discussion about it. Still plenty of movement as usual from down south to SE Qld so not a disaster recruiting wise.geez a lot of players going to other comps mainly FIFO ,,and good players at that ,,,,example up north the central Trinity bulldogs whom were runners up in 2025 have recruited some top players like the stackleberg brothers and rhys-banks smith from aspley , abe Anker's and 3 others ...take a look at their Facebook page to see all of this ,,,and have had most players resign ,,,,on paper they should win the 2026 flag
