Can almost guarantee it will only be the pirates going to Gympie and no return serve. They are such an outlier so I think that is a reasonable outcome (I am from the pirates) but for context Redcliffe to Yara is 80km while Yara to tweed is 105 and Cooley is 86 which are the two most southern clubs at present and while I agree that a restructure is needed it needs to be more than just the pirates going south as having to do the m1 stretch from Beenleigh to Helensvale every second week is a punishment no club in seq should have to endure

Jeez even Alex Hills to Coomera would be annoying. Can’t imagine wanting to be Alex or Moorooka knowing you’ve got a GC game pretty much every second week. If that change occurs. I mean wouldn’t be any better for your Burleighs and Coolys either.

The GC clubs would be more inclined to move up if multiple clubs went up. Which would stuff the south comp. Hence everything getting blown up in 12 months.

Funnily enough in the 70s and 80s Brisbane had QAFL & SQAFA with 2 divs and the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast had their comps. It strikes me that with all the changes over the last 4 decades we seem to be back to the future.

AFLQ have flagged the change in the comp meetings for 2026.
Of course it isn't guaranteed, but that is their current intention.

I’d be very surprised if Gympie don’t improve! Seemed to have recruited very well over the summer. The people running that club have wanted to play Saturday footy with two senior men’s teams for a fair while.It would be terrific to see them competitive

Only appears when cleared and registered to clubs so not sure how organised most Div 2 Clubs are with that atm

Righto peanut. Why are you knocking them? A lot of clubs have been in this position and have taken the long road back. Good on them for doing it.
