Never had an issue with travel in my playing days. Even whilst coaching Youth, Tweed at 10am on a Sunday morning and 2 weeks later 3:30pm Sunday at Noosa.
Game day can sometimes just be a whole day.

Well the ‘split’ would be more south of the city rather then using the river to mark south and north. Curious where they draw the line at north and south.

Although I’d argue Hinterland, Caloundra, Moreton, Sandgate, Redcliffe, Mayne, Kedron, Pine Rivers maybe would be the Div 1 north.

South would be Springwood, UQ, Yeronga, Kenmore, Alex Hills, Bond Uni, Burleigh and/or Cooly. However can’t really add anymore teams into that as the rest won’t be up to standard. Unless Mt Gravatt come in. And make it a 9 team comp.

Rest of them go into Div 2. With the biggest drive being Gympie or Tweed.

North/south does not work. It failed 10 years ago. It’s failing now. I’m sure the bottom half of Div 2 north and south would rather drive longer and play each other then getting flogged every week. The swans are no way near Div 1 either. Blow it all up and start again.

Totally see that point as well.

So go back to the old standard Div 1,2 and 3 maybe? Fridays become Div 4.

Doubt any chance aflq would send mt gravatt back after keeping with them this long

Redcliffe v Kedron 36 points

Kenmore v Logan City 18 points
Jindalee v Gympie 48 points
Zillmere v Pine Rivers 44 points
Moorooka v Wynnum 44 points

Redcliffe v Kedron 69 points
Yeronga v Alex Hills 13 points
Kenmore v Logan City 58 points
Jindalee v Gympie 80 points
Zillmere v Pine Rivers 87 points
Moorooka v Wynnum 32 points

I belive the Devils v Bombers game will be the only close game this week.. could be another week of blow outs

A decent round in my opinion on the weekend.
Yeronga v Alex Hills looked a close one.
Logan City got closer to Kenmore than I think most of u expected..
Redcliffe still miles ahead.

I noticed 2024 Senior Premiership best on ground winner Will Lovett laced the boots up for the redcliffe ressies.. They just keep adding fire power after fire power. Shows the depth and culture the club has created over the years. Good for them

I think Will can only play every now and then because of work commitments.
I also heard that there were a few dust ups on and off the field at the Redcliffe game.

Tough round to watch:

Alex Hills
v Logan City 22 points
Pine Rivers v Jindalee 8 points
Wynnum v Yeronga 80 points
Gympie v Redcliffe 80 points
Kedron v Zillmere 80 points
Kenmore v Moorooka 80 points

Go on…… more info sought
Just heard there was a dust up in or around the bar area.
A few scuffles on the field as well.
Bit of chat coming out of benches.
Probably not even close to the one against Sandgate and Kedron back in the 80s.
We actually stopped playing to watch it that day.

That’s because the clubs are allowed to self select their grading. Whilst there will always be winners and losers there are so many options to get it closer.

So honest question - what’s the advantage from a clubs perspective of going up a grade (apart from the obvious one of playing in a better competition)

As discussed previously on this forum self interest suggests you don’t move. But surely there is a competition integrity issue that every sport association across the country has to administer. Sorry but this “we’ll lose players if we go up” theory simply means being fluid in the divisions each year and a club may move up and back, and up again as each year is completed. No club stays up because of pride alone, sure give them a chance to rebuild in a specified timeframe, and no club stays down for silverware alone.

So honest question back. If Sandgate, Moreton Bay & Hinterland drop back (not saying they should immediately) from Division 1 to Division 2 do they dominate all the top teams in both North & South?

Not sure the next move should be dropping or promoting clubs, restructure number 20 on the cards! A Division 1 that looks like the below would be an excellent competition.
1 Bond Uni
2 Caloundra
3 Carrara
4 Hinterland
5 Kenmore
6 Moreton Bay
7 Redcliffe
8 Sandgate
9 Springwood
10 University
(Could have 1 or 2 of the following also: Mayne, Sherwood, Mt Gravatt)
Correct me if I'm wrong but there aren't any clubs in the midst of a 'dynasty' with multiple premierships in a row across QAFL, Div 1 or Div 2? IMO the issue is more around clubs/teams that aren't developing strong lists or improving standards, especially via youth players being retained into Senior programs.

Alex Hills v Logan City 50 points
Pine Rivers v Jindalee 21 points
Wynnum v Yeronga 120 points
Gympie v Redcliffe 135 points
Kedron v Zillmere 62 points
Kenmore v Moorooka 74 points

I think before any changes are made to any divisions there needs to be a full forum with at least 2 representatives from each club to discuss and put forward opinions and options as to what the leagues should look like moving forward from QAFL to at least Div 2 and the Friday Night Competitions a different conversation.

I think clubs should be given opportunities to put forward their views and have voices heard at a forum before any changes made.

I think most would agree the competitions across all levels are bit out of whack.
