Was channel seven being its usually over dramatic self when it said the flood would reach victoria?
Probably ... but it has solved a lot of issues in the Murray/Darling basin just quietly and that is where it will all end up . Be interesteing to see what happens

As Wall-e said ... mother nature is certainly kicking some serious @rse

Anyone see that white 4WD that was just stranded and semi submerged in the middle of no where? The news chopper apparently went back to get a rescue person and then when they went back to look for the car it'd gone, don't think anyone's seen it since.

it's really escalted in the last 36 hours. it went from being a natural disaster that was causing mass damage to buildings and properties, to being a disaster that we have no idea what this could end up being. it's not good when you hear of these king tides that are apparentally coming in :(

Rumours abound up here that only the male was rescued, after he chose to drive into the waters when it was much smaller.

Hopefully not true, but it is a point of concern among many people I've talked too, hopefully they got away ok.

i think with the establishment of this thread and talking to a few people. i have thought that yes, people have cared in the last week/few days.

However, i think it was pretty much today that it really hit everyone what was going on and the magnitude of it.

Best wished to those affected and our thoughts are with you

From police FB

"The John Oxley has broken away from it's mooring, and is presently floating in the Brisbane River"

For those of us who haven't been the Brisbane in 20 years, what sort of vessel is the John Oxley?

This is devastating and will only get worst. Saying it will be worst than the 1974 flood. 9 people confirmed dead, with 66 unaccounted for and grave fears held for those people. The pictures from Ipswich in the last hour are scary and Brisbane isn't looking that could either. This disaster in the last 24 hours has gone to another level.

^^^ i don't think that's it. that would cause serious damage. hopefully it isn't.

judging from one of the comments on twitter "on any other summer's day i'd be having lunch on the john oxley. instead it's floating down the brisbane river" i gather it's a restuarant boat of some description.

Is that why Skynews is now showing that footage with those people blurred out?

There is a restaraunt called oxleys that is on the river but that is not moored, im pretty sure its on pylons like a pier.

Lulz from QPS

"CORRECTION: The John Oxley has NOT broken away from its mooring, and is still safely tethered to the dock"

Hope everyone keeps safe :thumbsu: Also hope you all have insurance :thumbsu:
