The Q-Train has spoken, and I trust her.

14. ADELAIDE
JAMIE CRIPPS

Vital information: 18, from East Fremantle, 183cm, 75kg. Running defender/midfielder who loves taking the game on.

The rationale: The Crows are fans, and looking for the sort of outside pace and clean delivery that Cripps would bring.

Best-laid plans: If Dyson Heppell remains available, is he too good to pass on? Dion Prestia, Ben Jacobs, local Brodie Smith are onballers to have been linked to the Crows. So too Geelong utility Billie Smedts.

well this is what i posted in FAITH's thread on my thoughts on Cripps so might as well move it here instead:
even checking out Cripps' Youtube vid you can gather that he has a the ability to be in the right place at the right time, a good strong core which allows him to fend off and shrug off opponents well, and has the ability to turn on his pace when he needs it to take on opponents and get away from them. Nagatives are probably some of his kicks looked a little up and under and sometimes missed short options.

Has played 2 years in the U/18 Championships for WA also played games late in the season for East Fremantle in the WAFL and might sound strange but reminds me of a very Collingwood type player in the mould of a Sidebottom/Shaw/Pendlebury.

Every year Quayle correctly picks our selection only to change her mind at the last minute and fall for the smokescreen :D Who did she has as her Crows selection before she changed to Cripps?

Actually, I don't think EQ has got our pick right in the last three years, last year she said to me that she thinks the crows deliberately try to throw her. Cripps is a little left field, so i've got my fingers crossed for her this year :)

Surely when she was doing her mock draft she had the thought, hang on a second the Crows pass on Atley, that aint going to happen!

Relax,

Emma's draft is well informed. Though it's very unlikely it will pan out exactly like this.

Wait until tonight until we start getting the torches or victory cigars ;)

Crows looked heavily at Cripps, thats probably why all the hype from emms but that was when they expected Smith to be taken before 14.
Now they believe SMith will be there at 14.
Emma is a gun, but Atley at 16 and SMith at 17 is a Joke!

We'd take Atley long before taking Cripps, I can assure you of that.

Still, if this ends up happening I won't be disappointed. I rate the kid, smart player who has a bit of speed on his side. Though ATM he's more of an attacking HBF.

From last year

13 ADELAIDE: JASPER McMILLAN-PITTARD
VITAL INFORMATION: 18, from the Geelong Falcons. 186cm, 71kg. Super-smooth half-back flanker with smarts.
THE RATIONALE: There was some late mail yesterday for Lewis Jetta, but the Crows have been keen on this smart
backman for a while now. In time he could become a very damaging player taking the ball down the wings and making
good decisions kicking into the forward line.
BEST-LAID PLANS: West Coast’s apparent decision to opt for Sheppard over Jetta yesterday sparked talk that the Crows
might snap Jetta up, and it’s a strong possibility — he is super-quick and the Crows don’t have too many super-quick
young legs on their list. Andrew Moore is another big chance, and the Crows would love Talia to somehow slide.

Following this pattern, we are going to pick Smedts. Quayle tried to trick the trickster (Rendell) went for a possible bolter (JMP/Cripps) then gives a last minute nod to the player Rendell actually picked up.

:D

If we passed on Atley, I wouldnt be bothered. Obviously there is something in him Rendell and other recruiters dont like and accept that they know alot more than all of us.
