Hey Guys,

I'm a Carlton supporter, who lives in SE QLD, and I'm hoping to attend the Lions Vs Carlton game on the 1st of July. I'm currently on an Apprenticeship, so I don't get that much income per week (Sucks, I know). After looking on the GABBA overview map, I seen that the General Reserved seating area, at the lower end of the Eastern End is only $23.50 per ticket.

From this section, can you get a good view of the game? Or can you only see parts of the game, due to its positioning?

Thanks to the people who can help? :thumbsu:

There are no bad seats at the gabba. It is a good veiwing ground. Enjoy the game.

I still drive in although I just live at Balmoral.

I used to live in East Brisbane, so I know all the best spots to park (for free).

We used to hire our backyard out for $10 a car in the early days. We could get $40, buy some beer, then sit on the roof and watch the game through some binoculars and listen to the radio.

we were students and poor.

I have to sit in that section every week (I am a Uni student...) and It actually isn't that bad. And the mix of lions fans and the opposition all around you mean you are right in the middle of the compeditive atmosphere expesh when someone goes for a goal right in front of you. Tis good...

Front row, section 19. Pretty good seating actually. Was in a bloody awesome position to see Akermanis's goal both against Adelaide and Bulldogs :D

Best thing about being so close, its easy to keep the stats without looking at the screen. So close to the players

Thanks guys. I can't wait for the game.

One more question. Does it cost any money when parking at the ground?

There is private parking around the ground in peoples backyards etc but that is about $10. If you get a ticket pregame you can get to the game free by either bus or train. Keeps the cars out of the area.

Be very very careful if parking around the area. Parking inspectors every 10 sq.m.! However I think if you park west of the South-East freeway you're right. I know of a few nice spots to park reliatively close to the ground.

Buses leave from Roma Street to the ground and are free if you show your ticket.

Sorry. I've got another question. I've found out that on the day of the game, Queensland Rail will be working on the rail-line between Narangba and Caboolture from 2pm on the day of the game, to 11am the next morning. I've been told to expect delays of up to 90 minutes. I want to drive down now, but I don't know where to park, without having to worry about parking inspectors, and I want to be park as close to the ground as I can.

Help is much appreciated.

left side of Kennedy street if you get their early, as we do to watch the ressies.Great parking close to gabba.

I'll be down there at around 5pm. Thanks for the tip mate. I'll definantely be watching the ressies game, too. It starts at 5, right?

Where are the other options of seating? I had a look at the map and it seems alot of the seats are taken up by members/coporates etc.

Corrosion, being that you are new to the GABBA parking, make sure you do not fall for the "I'll just read the parking signs trick"

If the sign says "2 Hour Parking Mon -Fri 7am to 7pm" then that means NO PARKING.

If the sign says "No standing Mon - Fri 7am to 7pm" then that means NO PARKING, even though the game is played on a SATURDAY.

If there is no sign that you can see, then trust me, it means NO PARKING.

If there is a sign that says "NO LIMIT" then you are OK, park away, you are now officially safe.

Finally, if you missed and of this, just read the sign that you pass while doing 60 or 70 km/hr just after you cross the story bridge.

Seeing as though the Blues are going to loose (hopefully for me) you don't want to get back to your car with a $150-00 fine on it.

Honestly, if the park seems too good to be true, then it probably is.

LOL thanks mate.

I've decided to park in the Myer Centre, and to catch the bus down to the game. Going to the casino either before the game, or after. Depends what time I get down to Brisbane, but I'll most likely go to the Casino after....unless Carlton lose, then I'll go straight home lol.

Make sure you have your ticket with you to get free public transport.

And cheer as loud as you can - the louder the opposition supporters cheer, the louder Lions fans cheer = better atmosphere!

Hi,
If I were you I would drive down to Westfield Chermside and get the bus in from there or drive to one of the north side railway stations with park and ride and get the train over to Sth Brisbane then walk around Stanley St.
Parking at/near the Gabba is high risk if you are running late... If you plan to get there early to watch ressies then park north of the Gabba - a few streets away and walk on down.. just check out the parking signs though. If you park near Stanley street the Lions Club (the service group not footy) do "sell" company car parking spots for around $10 - worth it.
Enjoy the game and the drive home!

I take it the General Admission tickets aren't available until Wednesday? These are usually at the Eastern end of the ground and quite frankly, I prefer that area behind the goals. As mentioned a good cross section of Lions and opposition supporters and pretty good spirit in general.
