He was supposedly recuited with a 1st Round draft pick as a midfielder but I rarely see him lined up to start in the middle. For those that have seen a fair bit of him, is he a genuine midfielder or more a HF/HB type?

Cheers.

I'm sure Drummond could answer this one for you, but when I've seen him play he's been on the wing. I reckon he's more a midfielder than a HB/HF type.

IMO his best position is coming off a wing. It’s interesting though because pretty much every game he plays he sees time in 1 or 2 different positions. He normally either starts on the wing or across the HFF. He is very effective as a wingman and this is where he should play most of his footy. But he’s a good old fashioned utility.

He can play as a small defender, which we saw in the NAB Cup, as he can shut down small forwards while providing good rebound. He also lines up across the HFF quite often and he’s normally good for a goal a game. But I think his talents are too often wasted down there and this is why he’s better suited to the wing/on the ball. He occasionally starts in the middle for centre bounces, as he did in the second half last week, but he rarely starts the game there. He could be a good midfielder in time though because he has a strong body and has great evasiveness (which is one of his major strengths).

Very solid player capable of playing in a variety of positions.

In AFC terms, I'd expect him to rotate with Mattner. He definitely looks very comfortable on the wing, but NC will probably look to graduate him to the midfield over a couple seasons. I'd expect him to step into Torney's shoes over the next couple years, with solid runs in the midfield. Eventually graduating to winger, sometimes resting on the HF & HB flanks. I think he has a good degree of toughness that you don't usually get from wingers.

Cheers lads.
In the little I have seen of P, including todays game, he certainly is a smooth mover. It seems to me he has the tools to take a game apart, at least at SANFL level, but never does. Is he being played out of position? Norwood seem to throw him all over the ground. Would like to see him settle in one position.

Had a poor game today I thought, but there's no doubting we've got yet another clean handler of the footy in Pfeiffer. Looks to have slightly above-average pace and showed some positive signs when sent forward for a bit; can roost the footy. I have to see more of him as it's not fair to judge him on today's game really.

Compared to some of his Norwood mates, he his performance today was acceptable. He had (as you said) clean hands and didn’t fumble, his awareness when he has the ball needs some work but saying that it appeared as if centrals had 30 player on the park, they were everywhere yesterday.

His performance yesterday was not good enough for this to be pressing for AFL selection but it did show he has enormous talent and upside for the future.

First quarter was good
Second and third quarter he basically fell out of the game, like most of his Norwood mates
Fourth quarter was his best for the game and showed his had good hands and a willingness to do that hard things on the ground.

You are the stupidest poster on this forum. Sorry, but it has to be said.

Everytime he touched the ball it was gold, but he still had a poor game? Doesn't compute. Maybe he was playing in a side that was being absolutely demolished. Kinda makes it hard to have a great game when no one is backing you up.

Some things are better left unsaid and everyone should be entitled to their opinion whether it is right or wrong.

Ok I was at the game and believe it or not I endured the torture of watching the game (while frantically fast forwarding their million goals) to analyse Pfeiffer’s game. IMO apart from maybe one poor kick in the second quarter I thought he was clean with his disposal and was good around the packs.

It was a bad day to be a forward because we were slaughtered in the clearances (36-12), so the movement into our forward line where he was playing most of the day was terrible. He was shifted into defence in the last term and did a reasonable job; won a few possessions and had a few timely spoils. To have 15 possessions and most of them spot on in a team that went down by in excess of 25 goals isn’t a bad effort. And keep in mind he was off for the last 15 minutes.

Actually it wasn't gold whenever he touched the footy. Handling of the ball was impressive but disposal was poor more often than not. Decision making was slow, he lacked awareness. Didn't get a whole lot of the ball and overall was a mediocre-poor performance. You don't seem to understand the difference between a clean pick-up and a quality disposal.

Kung Fu, if I'm the "stupidest" poster on this forum, how come I'm smarter than you? :)

His disposal is one of the best parts of his game and he showed in on the weekend. Matter of opinion I guess, but please reserve judgement until you watch him a bit more. And you said "clean handler of the footy", not "clean pick up" in the first post. Handling the footy usually refers to how you dispose of it as well.

His decision making is not a problem at all. Once again, if you're team is being decimated and profoundly kept out of the game, its hard to pick out a good option quickly.

Sorry, I don't mean to be negative Nancy, but your posts drive me nuts with their contradictions and poor expression.
