General Bombers Talk Questions and discussions that don't warrant a thread

Can anyone answer a question regarding ticketing for the game against Carlton on 18 August for me?

We've got family/friends heading to the game from Tassy, Canberra & Melbourne (11 of us all up) and are trying to organise tix. 4 of us from Tassy are Bombers members, so can pay to upgrade our tickets.

I've spoken to Ticketek in Melbourne & here in Hobart and the only tickets they have available are in the sections behind the goals at ground level. My experience is that these seats suck nuts to actually watch a game as you've only got the option of staring from one end of the ground to the other, and generally can't see anything at the far end. In addition to this, there's generally a fairly feral component of the crowd directly behind the goals, and with 5 kids coming with us, I'd prefer they weren't exposed to some of the crap that these psychos spout.

The Ticketek website only has seating in the same areas available, and says that the seating allocation for the premium reserved areas (green on the seating map) has been exhausted. The Ticketek blokes said they hadn't been released yet.

Anyone know how you get access to these seats, or are we destined for seats behind the goals?

Speaking of mail.

Has anyone received their letter from David Evans in the mail? (if you donated to the flight plan)

I want to book some reserved seats for Friday night but I'm not sure how to go about it through Ticketmaster. I have a home and away membership, but no away seat, so I need to book a seat for myself (without paying for entry twice) and also buy a seat for my old man who doesn't have an away membership. I can book a general admission seat for my old man if I enter my barcode, or I can buy two seats while paying full price for my own, but I can't seem to pay full price for one and upgrade the other.

I'd give Ticketmaster a call.

Why isn't this game fully ticketed, yet games against Port ect are? I know it's Geelong's home game, but still...

Apparently it is now fully ticketed. I spoke with someone from Ticketmaster and she said it was, without much conviction. I then rang the club and they said they weren't sure.

I always check by seeing if the general admission tickets are allocated a seat. If they aren't its not fully ticketed. You could get GA without an allocated seat yesterday, but today GA are not available.

Got a text from gfc yesterday and they said more tickets had been released and to get in early for general admin seats, therefore it's not fully ticketed. After reading the text, i went online and could find reserve tickets on level 2 and 1, but not 3.

I don't think it'd ever be possible for a game to 'change' to fully ticketed, after already selling general admission tickets and having a club with 40,000 members and no reserve seating plan, many of whom had already planned to go general. It should have been fully ticketed from the beginning, but to change it would be impossible.

Yeah that's what I told the lady from Ticketmaster but she then said that if you had already purchased a general admission ticket you would have to stand. Don't think so, lady.

I just bought reserved seats on level 1 anyway.

Sorry for the non ticket related question......

This is for any of the elder members out there, im having a bit of a debate with somebody..... can anyone confirm or deny if channel 7 used to use fake cheer squad sounds after goals in the 1985 season??... i know i can hear something after goals in the grand final, and i am sure i rememebr hearing about this but i cant find any proof anywhere..

I cant get a general admission ticket atm either. Tried a couple of times but it just keeps saying it cant find any seats.

I'm guessing it still isnt a sell-out, haven't heard anything to say it is. I've got a couple of ppl getting to the ground early to grab me a seat, and I won't be getting there till later. Do they ever stop selling GA tickets at the gate? Cause I cant get one from TM as I said and I don't want to be left outside, knowing there;s a seat waiting for me.

are there standing room tickets for sale? if so, just grab one of them. if not, then general admin isn't sold out. you can easily walk into level 3 with a standing room ticket, even if you need to tell your mate to come to the concourse with two tickets and take you to your seats...

If anyone is after 2 x Tickets to next Fridays game (v Hawthorn) please PM me. Got a couple of tickets I won't be using so hopefully I can help a couple of extra bombers fans get in the gate.
