Not a question, but the 99 Prelim is on 7's Footy Flashbacks right now.

I switched on the TV yesterday, saw this, and turned it straight back off again.

Would rather stick needles in my eyes than watch that again.

Honestly, I'd sooner watch the 1990 or 2001 Grand Finals before going anywhere near the 1999 prelim.

TBH, it is the one game of footy I would never, ever, watch again.

Just a question, how long in advance do GA tickets (or general reserved) for Etihad come out? Just booked flights and accommodation for the weekend of round 14, and was hoping to buy tickets too!

They come out on the Friday two weeks beforehand. So for round 14 this will be June 15th.

So I wanna go to the game with a mate who's not a member (/is a Melbourne supporter), but ticketek won't allow me to buy seats together using both Essendon memberships and non-memberships.

Is there a solution to this?

Ticketek will allow you to do that.
Ticketek's 1998 era website will not.
Go into one of the 3 remaining offices, and they'll be able to help you out and get you decent seats (hard to find on the website) as well.


You know I've made exactly this post about a zillion times? It really is the cure to all ticketing issues.

Should be able to buy it. But they'll sting you for a booking fee I think.

Yeah, Kong man, if you go the GA option definitely just buy them at the gate. The booking fee is $6.95 I think- money that could instead almost buy you a hideously overpriced MCG sandwich or beer!

Yep sounds about right. Think I saw that at one of the 'G or Etihad (can't remember which- maybe it's both!), a 600ml bottle of water is more expensive than a bottle of coke (even if only 450ml, but still)

Does Etihad have a GA section that is reliably fairly empty? I'm going with a Sydney supporter (non-member) and planning to scan my membership and find two empty seats? Where's the best place to look?

There's no GA for Essendon home games at Etihad- they're all fully ticketed. If you want to sit with him, you'll probably need to buy seats together.

Depends on whether the NAB cup games counted toward his 14 weeks, his first was the final vs Carlton, so should be back after round 13 at the latest, unless the clubs planning on letting him go.

So I was unable to get to a computer to book tickets for the Freo game yesterday. Gone to buy them today and there are absolutely none available. Flights were booked in Feburary solely to go see the boys in Perth, but now it looks to have been a complete waste of money. Anyone have any suggestions?
