Hub life and no proper 2nds season didnt help his cause. If retained will have a better structure then this season to prove his worth. A big yr for such a popular team mate and supporter favorite.

He and a few other are going to have to be strong of mind ..its going to be very tough to break into best22 if all are fit.

Pleased he is staying. I would play him at high half forward. He is elusive, clever around goal and a nice user.

Needs a big summer of tackling with Parfitt.

I don’t see him making it as a midfielder, he just can’t stay in games for long enough.

Class player.
Agree with all above - needs more defensive effort and that will elevate him IMO. Has all the tricks when ball in hand no doubt.

Go Catters

I dont see Narkle as a forward, he is not as good around goals as Motlop. If he can play thru the middle I think we will struggle to hold a spot
One dimensional like Constable except Narkle has marketing potential in that he’s a fan favourite

I do not see that comparison at all .. I question his finishing ..thats all. He has a lot of teflon about his play but wastes it a bit . Motlop was and is an excellent set shot

Not at all - watched him quite a bit in the VFL. He's an inside mid, but has that burst of pace and ability to step out of tackles that puts him above Constable IMO. Better disposal as well. I'm surprised people have questioned his defensive work; his tackling is good, but would be better if his endurance improves.

Very glad he's still on the list; it's all in his hands now.

It's not his tackling per se, more like awareness and accountability around the contest. He plays midfield like Dangerfield, both players can tackle but both are a liability defensively. Of course the difference is Dangerfield was the best attacking midfielder in the competition for a time whereas Narkle is obviously not that just yet. I'm also glad he's still on the list, like you say his assets are a big plus. But I think it's still correct to say he's one dimensional like Constable is, just with different weaknesses. Good thing with Narkle is it's things you can coach or come with natural improvement/experience. Constable's problem has always been endurance and if it hasn't been addressed in three years you wonder if his body is ever going to allow it to be addressed.

Parfitt as a role model and good friend of Narkle, maybe Narkle's best chance of becoming the player he really should be. Narkle has all the attributes to be a top player in time at the Cats, I'm sure of that fact, we just need him to go to the next level which will have far more to do with his work commitment and dedication to the task at hand rather than anything else, just don't want him to become another wasted Allen Christensen who has just let his AFL career pass him by.

I am too, though I wonder how close the call was. Maybe it was the line-in-the-sand, wake up call Narkle needed. Or maybe it was inevitable that he'd be re-signed. Either way, he doesn't seem close to the starting 22 for Round 1, 2021. Parfitt, Simpson and Miers have shown there are spots available if you're good enough, I'd love to see Narkle take one.
Clearly it was close. Hopefully he will come back fit and motivated.

Just read Jordan Clark's comments on his review. Fairly confronting it seems, but he's taken it in the right spirit.

What was told to Clark? Conditioning related?

Geez, turn it up.

He's not in the same league as Dahlhaus or Higgins.

Though he might be. Some day.
We are talking about one feature of being a foward. Not the whole package. higgins and dalhaus better fowards. although the gap between him and dalhaus is no longer all that great. I doubt dalhaus is best 22 by the end of next season.

Good to be able to laugh during the offseason ain't it...
Goals per game.

narkle 0.8
close 0.25
higgins 0.4 (last 2 seasons)
dalhaus 0.5 (last 2 seasons)
atkins 0.25

saying narkle is better at finding the goals then these players is not a controversial statement. He is way ahead and thats even despite the fact he probably spends more time up the ground then all bar higgins.

This is just not true
Narkle has kicked 10 goals in 17 games, that's 0.6 per game. Higgins went at 0.6 from midfield in 2019 while also averaging 28 touches
