Hey lads and ladies,

This article was posted on the main board, but i know there's quite a lot of people who don't go there, and given it's R U OK day i thought it was worth posting.

https://www.playersvoice.com.au/alex-fasolo-death-was-an-escape-fantasy/

It's Alex Fasolo talking about his depression, and i think it helps demonstrate just how demonstrative and debilitating it can be.

Also if anyone reading this is having a struggle at the moment and feel like you have nowhere else to turn, please feel free to shoot me a PM. This probably seems like a strange option to randomly message someone you've never met, but having struggled on and off with depression for a little over 12 years, i can relate to what you might be feeling, and i also understand how difficult reaching out can be. I was lucky enough a complete stranger reached out to me via a different social media platform about 10 years ago and helped me get through some of my own struggles, so if you have nowhere else to turn or feel uncomfortable talking to those you know about it, I'm more than happy to just listen and help if i can.

And if i could encourage everyone else on this board to reach out to those you know, not just today, but regularly. A conversation can very literally save a life.

Lots of MFC-related jokes I could make here, but I won't.

Don't be afraid to ask for help. Particularly blokes. I know there's a culture in masculinity where you keep your problems to yourself and don't ask for help. Here's the thing though - asking for help isn't admitting weakness. It's about trying to get better at something. Think about when you first start a job - you ask for help with tasks because you don't know how to do them. Every bit of info helps. If you're struggling with something at work, you ask for help - so what's different if you're struggling in your own life?

Please all, reach out if you need it.

Depression really does suck, i'm sure the board probably has heard me prattle on about my past with it so i'll save it. In all seriousness though, if you feel that you are battling or it's just plain hard to get up in the morning or stay motivated amongst the bustle of life, never be afraid to speak to someone, whether it be friend, family or Someone random on the end of a call to lifeline. Please don't feel the need to hide behind the curtain of masculinity, there no need to put of your own well being for the sake of appearing strong, we are humans and we have emotions, it is perfectly fine to express them and let them out.

If anyone needs help obviously as i said ring up lifeline or speak to friends of family or visit beyond blue. If anyone needs to talk or isn't sure, please you are more than welcome to PM me to discuss experiences privately

Im ok, but probably would be better if my old man didnt make me a dees supporter. I assume my son will feel the same way when he is a bit better
