IT’S official. The AFL have finally declared round one will be postponed indefinitely after lengthy discussions today at AFL headquarters.

Chief Executive Officer Gillon McLachlan announced “it is with heavy heart, that the football season will be put on hold until further notice, however the AFL’s decision was made with the best interest of the players, their friends and families and the wider community in mind”.

“Our priority at this point in time is containing COVID-19 and maintaining the good health of the Australian public. We have been carefully and thoroughly advised that no game should take place until the situation is under control”.

“Unfortunately, we are at a stage now where the sporting world is going to great lengths to contain the spread of the virus so it is paramount that we too play our role”.

The decision to call off the round came at the final hour, with Richmond and Carlton preparing to face off tomorrow night.

The round was postponed, despite there being an overwhelming majority of players and coaches who were in favour of it going ahead.

The 2020 season will not continue until further notice as restructure talks are still ongoing.

Could you imagine the weagle fans if overseas teams were added,

" waah Richmond didn't have to travel to Russia and still got 21 games on the MCG while we had to travel to England, South Africa, Canada, Iran, Greece to end our season "
