Really hoping McGovern and hendo do a switch this game.

Hendo isn't a defenders arseh*le, but can be a dangerous forward.

Would really like to see McGovern tried in defence, not because I think he belongs there, but I think he could be an option in the future should our defence be having problems on a particular day. Its great versatility to have, but needs to be tested at the highest level.

If not in the forward line I really hope hendo plays as pure wingmen and hopefully doesn't go anywhere near defence.

It comes down to who is the best fit to cover Brown's team role. Let's say Hendo is an opposition hf and Bull is our hb on Hendo, who would you put your money on to win the contest? Also leading up to finals you need a store of Afl ready players in case of injuries by rotating the same players I'm not sure some of our sanfl guys are getting Afl exposure. The sanfl games I've seen so far seem well of the pace n pressure of Afl. Just saying. .

You're right we aren't bring many through with only 27 players this year, but I would say that is the reason we are in equal second position aswell!

I like where we sit over bringing lots through!

As someone who won't be seeing a live game until the last couple of rounds, I'm hoping you can help me out with the above. Are the players that you mentioned above setting up behind the ball at times or are they working deep into defence during play. I don't think there's anything revolutionary with mids and wingmen working back deep into defense during play, it's been happening for decades. Perhaps a bit new to us, where we have tended to allow our mids to leave the defenders to their own devices and hang around half back waiting for an easy possession on the way back out.
I have been O/S since the St Kilda match ( back next week) so I can't say what has happened the last three matches (watching games on an iPad loses quite a bit).

Our outside mids/wingmen have very specific roles depending where the ball happens to be. At centre clearances they start on the wing but do not charge in like the old days. If the opposition get the clearance they run deep into our D50 and if there is a stoppage in our D50 they set up between the stoppage and the opposition goal.

If we have the ball in our F50 they become our first line of defence (pretty typical for most teams).

If the opposition have a good share of the ball, our "wingmen" may spend less time between the D50 and the F50 than our half forwards. For people who are not at the match it is not difficult to see why they think Seedsman is playing in defence or Charlie is playing on the wing ( which he does from time to time).

Hendo for Brown with this game is the right idea, wrong player.

That said, i get managing Seedsman through one game with the Hammy just to get some run through the legs though.

It's adequate use of a depth player.

Dropping Lyons gives us more flexibility on the outside. We have more than enough inside ball winners to cover his absence.

I'm not sure how you can argue that the inside/outside role for Mackay no longer exists. Which part no longer exists? The inside, or the outside? The outside clearly still exists, as it's the whole basis for your argument. The inside also exists, given that he had the equal 4th most clearances of all Adelaide players last weekend, with 4 clearances - only 1 less than Lyons.

Dropping Lyons would give us a better team balance than we have right now. We lose very little on the inside, with Mackay and Douglas being more than able to pick up any slack there. We gain on the outside, where Lyons is less effective.

Lyons is one of the more overrated players on Adelaide's list. He's passable, serviceable, not particularly good, nor particularly bad. Even with 6 full games under his belt he's still existing on the fringe of the team, which is where/what he's always been. Note that "overrated" is referring to BigFooty, not me, nor the selectors. I certainly wouldn't be claiming a victory for BigFooty at this stage.
Rubbish post..
Way more than passable. Particulary good. Youve basically just described Mackays entire career. If we are any chance of beating geelong or sydney it needs to be won on the inside.

Meh, Vader continues with his usual high standards of player evaluation.
