Too Sweet
Can we knock off all the apologising and being gracious towards each other nonsense, its really bringing down the tone of the thread.

Not me. I love the Frogster.

Nank gave away silly frees, and poor decisions at times. Needs to improve his IQ but still hasn’t played many games yet - that attempted spoil could have been a game changer
Yes but Nank should’ve stayed down with his man in case the ball went over the back - 101 defence; don’t have two players doing one thing. Just like in a 2v2 you don’t have both defenders tackle the one player with the ball, leaving one attacker free to receive the handball. Trust your teammate to do their job but be prepared for if they don’t.Just on this, I had twenty minutes to kill so watched the Kayo mini of the game, and in that moment it's not really Nankervis at fault. Murray goes up and has the sit to spoil the ball, Nankervis is also coming from a different angle but Murray has the prime spot. It's hard to tell on the replay, but it looks like Murray gets just a tiny bit of fist on the ball which sends it over Nankervis' hand. Or maybe Murray just clean misses the ball and it gets through to (and past) Nankervis. Either way, Murray had a clean jump at it and is obviously the one who should be spoiling the ball in that scenario. His mistake.

I think having McAndrew in the SANFL will be good for ROB. He knows we now have someone who can legitimately come in and take his spot. The last few years it has just been Strachan as the back up and ROB knew he was only going to come in as the last resort.ROB reaction games tend to be good.
After his spot is questioned or he's dropped or he comes under some media scrutiny he generally responds with a good display. Was very good today. Controlled the stoppages, took a few decent marks.
The trouble is that he soon settles into his comfort zone again and dishes up pitiful, meek, nothingness.
He's obviously loved at the club, highly respected and admired. Friends with everyone. Is that part of the problem? Reciprocal niceness.
When ROB dishes up one of his blancmange efforts, does he get hauled off at the 15 minute mark of the first quarter and have strips torn off him? Do Baulderstone or VB or Nicks grab him by the collar and shake him, Blight-style?
He'd perhaps benefit from some tough love at times, the occasional rocket. Comfortable ROB sucks. On edge ROB can play the game.
Faaaaark you must have been a good player ! What level did you play at ?

Hawk boy?Div 3 amateurs against clubs like Ethelton and Rosewater.
I grew up hating Port. These clubs made me hate them more.....oh![]()
Just drop ROB every 3-4 games and play McAndrew, that will keep him on his toes and not let his standards drop too farI think having McAndrew in the SANFL will be good for ROB. He needs that motivation to play well, you heard the comments in the media during the week that McAndrew should come in and take his spot, and then ROB comes out and plays one of his better games this year.
Hopefully McAndrew keeps playing well and keeps the pressure on. Either it will force ROB to continue to play at the higher level, or it will then force the selectors to drop him and give McAndrew an opportunity.

So it was Murray’s spoil (or attempted mark as there wasn’t a GWS marking opponent). He'll have a better and longer career than MileraSo it was Murray’s spoil (or attempted mark as there wasn’t a GWS marking opponent). Nankervis should have stayed on his man then.
Hope I’m proved wrong, but I don’t think Nankervis will be a 100 game AFL player. He’s a poor man’s Milera.
Yep or he’s dropped. How many times has it happened now? It’s pretty poor that a leader of the club needs being dropped or the threat of being dropped to lift.Something wrong with the culture or ROB if he’s happy to phone it in until public questioning gets too intense.
The fact we have not bothered to recruit any other ruck options has meant ROB had no pressure on him to perform. He knew he could coast along and his spot was safe. Strachan was only ever a break glass option and ROB knew it.Something wrong with the culture or ROB if he’s happy to phone it in until public questioning gets too intense.

He's being played out of position ! Should be playing on the wing where he can be creative with his natural ball getting talents. In the coaches obsession with making everyone a defender ( think Pedlar, Dowling, Curtin Jones, Taylor, Murphy, and others) he's been under utilized. He was recruited as a forward, but has never played there. He's on the list of Nick's pigeon holed misfits as above. To think Murphy was able to play 116 games, Jones 92, and Scholl 79 & so many others not preferred ,under developed & denied opportunity is the biggest indictment of the coaching group. Not an ounce of coaching nous in the collective minds of Nicks, Burns, Van Berlo & Godden.. Nankervis has played 27 mostly good games. Much prefer to have him in the team instead of the coach's favourite Murphy who has never played a reasonable game. Given an opportunity to play to his strengths & talents we might discover a very constructive 100 game player !So it was Murray’s spoil (or attempted mark as there wasn’t a GWS marking opponent). It's definitely a consistent pattern. I don't think ROB is a complete waste of space like a lot of people here but if he played like this week consistently we'd be a better side for sure.Yep or he’s dropped. How many times has it happened now? It’s pretty poor that a leader of the club needs being dropped or the threat of being dropped to lift.
Preseason he’s beaten by McAndrew, he’s then brought on to the list, first 2 games played ok to well. Next 2 games are downhill. Media questioning his position and plays his best game for the year.
What’s next, another good game followed by another couple of poor ones as he’s complacent again?

First time he’s ever played on the wing though isn’t it?He is playing on the wing
I personally think he’s better on a half back which is a more prominent role anyway
Has played wing before but not very often.First time he’s ever played on the wing though isn’t it?
Reckon Nankervis is suited to either role.He is playing on the wing
