Reckon Nannes is just as bad. Maxwell is well past his use by date and it is time he went.Surprised at the praise for Rogers on ABC, I reckon he's woeful, never knows when to shut his mouth.

I think that's part of the idea of the MMMs coverage. They're allowed to barrack. Doesn't matter if they're an English or Australian commentator. On Triple, the pre conceived idea i had with them was that their commentary was going to be very biased and one eyed? Is that pre conceived idea i had about them true or not?
Over the Christmas period last year, i read Jim Maxwell's book and if things had been different, the expert in their commentary team they have now could have been rather different. The idea originally was they'd bring Damien Fleming back to join Mike Hussey and Simon Katich. As it was only Katich of the aforementioned group of three came in and he was joined by Chris Rogers and Dirk Nannes.
He mentioned how things worked out well in the end. Hussey not joining them meant Dirk Nannes came on board and was able to provide the ''direct, penetrating'' views he felt Hussey couldn't provide due to Hussey not being ''distant'' enough with the players. When they couldn't gel Fleming, they got Chris Rogers. Maxwell saw it as a positive as Rogers was able to provide the fresh perspective that a very recently retired test player could provide.
That was brutal!Boycott got utterly clipped by Matthew Engel in the Guardian today, telling him he should retire.
those who don't like Gerard Whateley, he's finishing up with the ABC (article below states after the SCG Test, Gerard's twitter says immediately)

That's a shame he did a good job with the cricket since taking it on a couple of years ago. Wonder who steps up to the host gig now, or will they go out and poach someone back?

Corbin Middlemas is the obvious heir apparent in terms of cross-sport knowledge IMO.
Possibly. But I also reckon Hutchy's just given him an offer he couldn't refuse. The flight of talent from a Michelle Guthrie run ABC continues.

It's an article of faith for many in this government that the ABC should not be competing with commercial forces. I think we're seeing a bit of this here
Jarrod Kimber on his time as a consultant for ABC Grandstand and what they need to do post Gerard Whateley's departure.
