Raines dropped for Brisbane

Not sure why he was so confident that Brisbane would be a different situation when not able to crack our team last year.

The odd thing is that Rawlings who wouldnt give him a look in is up at Brisbane with him. I know Rawlings is not the backline coach but would you want any coach thinking that Jake King was a more valuable player than you.

Not cracking the Brisbane team at the moment is not a good thing for a player who sees the level below as ROTTING.

I was laughing at Voss in the preseason. Why would you get rid of Mcdonald, Rowe and Bradshaw and replace them with weaker/equal versions in Raines, Clarke and Fevola. Fevola is the laziest player in the afl this year.

if he'd gone quietly i'd wish him nothing but the best (a la rodan, happy for him, even though he's stuck at port adelaide)

but since he and his dad chose to p*ss and moan (i'm sure the VFL was happy to be referred to as the place players go to "rot") i've got no sympathy for him at all.

and i like the look of matty dea, he's the pick we got for raines right?

Nah **** him.. I am happy to post my thoughts on Andrew and his Judas father Geoff..
Geoff was my favourite player as a tacker, only for him to leave after the 82 grand final to The Pies..Footy Mercenary..
Andrew hasn't inherited his dads skills but has inherited his heart which is the size of a carraway seed.. I hope he wallows in the magoos..

Good bloke, made a poor choice in the manner he left but we got a good draft pick for him back from Brisbane so that's all that really matters even if I do feel better seeing him in a Brisbane jumper with the same weaknesses he's always had and seems will never get near fixing.

Spot on tugg....but he is Voss's problem. The moment the Lions opted for him, was the moment Voss alerted the Brisbane brainst trust to get the "SACKED" stamp ready. Stay tuned.

I agree to a point, even if I did start a Cleve Hughes update thread a few weeks back - i don't mind discussing just don't see the point in bagging. Everyone is entitled to a second chance, to show they can learn from mistakes especially when young.

Rowe?? Do you mean Rhan Hooper? Fev is the funniest joke of the season. Boasts about playing his 200th against us, avoiding it by 1 week from a date with his beloved Blues, running out with his girls etc, then plays an absolute shocker - can't think of a worse effort in "celebrating" a milestone. Then has to have Voss create a "torn groin" excuse to allow him to dodge Blues this week.

exactly..look at barlow, nahas, hudson, silvagni, picken etc. VFL is an opportunity to work your ass off and earn a crack at AFL level. From his comments Raines appeared to think it was "beneath" him to be playing at that level which is disappointing as he failed to see the opportunity it was presenting him. Ego usually gets in the way of seizing an opportunity. Very happy with Dea as a replacement for Raines. He's got some good attributes and athleticism.

Thier recruiting strategy last year had me in stitches ... in three years time that club will be bottom . i would put my house on it .

They traded away thier long term future in the hope of jagging a flag in the next couple of years . With Jon Browns body failing , Simon Black aging and Fevola well ... being Fevola , the traded away thier future bringing in all these experienced players with knocks on them .

Huge mistake ... and Raines FWIW was revealed as a one trick pony a looong time ago

Yeah, I wish Raines all the best; I followed him pretty closely at Tigerland. But it would have been hard to watch if he'd suddenly fixed up all his deficiencies at Brisbane.

The Brisbane board has a pretty active thread about him, and they say the exact same things we used to... "Great attack on the ball, super run and carry... just needs to stop running into trouble and turning it over."

Honestly he'd be a super player if he could improve his decision-making, but it doesn't look like it will ever happen.
