Sco-Mo can believe whatever he likes. His right. But thoughts and prayers l draw a line.

No politician is to blame for this Hoj, unless they are politicians who have stood in the way of bush clearing..

No politician is to blame for this Hoj,

You don't know that Morrison's failure to organise adequate/recommended air support didn't contribute to that death.

It's going to be an unanswered question. Air support - ie water bombing - has saved lives repeatedly during over runs and it sounds like this situation was an overrun.

It might not have mattered. But obviously the useless campaigner failed to do everything in his power to prevent it.

Bush clearing laws in NSW have been relaxed for years now. This article from before these fires is full of greenies whinging about it.

So not sure why but I’ll feel better for sharing this and thought BF would be an apt place to do so since literally 90% of my personal thoughts I have shared in my adult life have been put down in here.

So Sunday I ventured out to Aspendale for a day at the beach along with my partner and a couple siblings with theirs.

My brother decided well into the day that he wanted to swim out further than the first sand bank. We did this growing up by swimming out to the yellow beacon at our bayside beaches.
My best mate agreed. My partner refused.

We made it to the first sand back but high tide was coming in and my best mate turned back when we opted to push on to the second.
The water between first and second banks was somewhat deep but 20 meters separation at best. Having never been this far out since back in my teenage years I assumed the third bank would be easy to get to. And it was.
I’d fathom it was just after 4pm now and being an inexperienced swimmer and not having been on the water much since I entered my 20s, I didn’t want to leave my brother on his own so it’s why I kept going.

We made it out to the 3rd bank and along the way lifesavers warned my brother as he was ahead of me that it was deeper than usual and not quite standing height. We are both over 6ft with me slightly taller.

I didn’t hear the exchange and kept going as he waved them off. By now we had left the second sand bank and the 3rd was another good 50 meters further out. Shore was easily 250-300 meters away.

We made it and my siblings face suddenly turns a different shade when he realizes all is not well.
He can’t touch the floor.
He is younger than me and has learned to conserve energy as he has done this swim countless times recently. I was attempting it for the first time in years.

He turns around and begins to swim back.

I planned to gather my breath and then head on back once I was able to do so.
I could stand but only when there was no waves.
High tide was closing in and it was only going to get deeper.

I’ve had a few unpleasant moments in my life. Broken ankle, PCL reco, major car collision, but never a marine related situation like this.

I began to tread water but with each passing second I knew that I didn’t have the stamina to just relax and float as I’m closer to 40 than I am to 18. The concern of my partner and whatnot would have worn me down. It’s different when your older and have responsibilities. I get what it means when you are no longer invincible.

So, I yell out to a couple of jet skis for a ride back to shore but to no avail. I remain calm but by now my thoughts are with my fiancé on the shore and the stupidity of my decision to blindly swim out into Port Phillip Bay with no knowledge or thought of the conditions at present. I was lulled in by the shallow depths of the bay, but this was a situation I could not see coming. How was I stuck in the middle of Port Phillip?

Eventually I waved down a lone jet ski rider who came over and puzzlingly quizzed me with a cheery but concerned expression. He asked me what I was doing. I laughed it off with him but he knew that he was in the right place at right time. We both did. He didn’t even care that my brother who was also out of breath flipped him over as he wanted a tow back to the shore too. This could have been an extremely serious situation and have ended badly.

I explained the whole point of the swim on the ride back in but with my tail firmly between my legs. Slightly heavier and slower nowadays, what I lacked in endurance and stamina I had gained in maturity and self reassurance to understand I’m a very lucky man. Waving down a passer by killed off the predicament before it became an emergency.

Summer is only one month old. I respect the water and appreciate how forceful it can become when it wants to.

Look after your mates, your family, your loved ones and most of all yourselves these holidays.

Any situation no matter how innocent and minor in nature can turn into a tragedy so quickly.
It’s such a cliche and I hate it that it’s true but bravado and ego have no place in the sea. I was lucky. Others have not been so much.

They are smashing out an Ad on Radio up here about the number of men in their 40s who drown...your story is chilling; glad it had a good ending

Media Disappointed To Learn Armed Citizen Stopped Mass Shooting

December 30th, 2019

article-5338-2.jpg

U.S.—The nation's media outlets announced they were grieving today as an armed citizen stopped a mass shooting.

"We grieve that this tragedy we could have exploited for weeks on end was stopped by a good guy with a gun," said one teary-eyed MSNBC reporter on the scene. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the shooter."

"We are absolutely heartbroken and in shock over here," said one New York Times journalist. "What could have given us weeks and weeks of frothing-at-the-mouth stories about gun control will now have to be suppressed since it does not align with our agenda."

News outlets also reminded the nation that they reserve the right to immediately bury mass shooting stories that don't help push their agenda.

Outlets like CNN, MSNBC, and ABC News confirmed that they carefully look over the facts of a given case to see if it lines up with the correct opinions before deciding to push it incessantly for weeks on end.

"While we usually would exploit a tragedy like this to push our gun control agenda, in this case, the facts don't really help us," said CNN reporter Bob Costanza, after a recent shooting was shut down by a citizen with a gun. "It's tragic that it ended that way, because we really could have gotten a lot of mileage out of that bad boy."

The media didn't even try to find children who were present during the shooting to parade around talk shows and put on the covers of magazines for a full year this time around.

Is this a real story or a piss take?

Is this a real story or a piss take?

I get the confusion considering the current state of western society, but it's comedy, which of course must consist of an element of truth in order to be funny.

BTW, a moving head shot at 50 feet with a single pistol shot is some serious shooting skill.

This cretin picked the wrong place to show up with his murderous intent.

So it didn't happen?

I honestly don't care how many seppos shoot each other. Or how stupid it is to think the second amendment will protect you from a modern military with drones, facial recognition and all the rest.

But has anyone here ever used a handgun?

Can you imagine trying to identify a target and shoot them in a crowd without killing anyone else?

When Jarrod Lee Loungher shot that American politician and a judge who'd overturned some gun control law there were several people in the crowd who were carrying legal concealed weapons and every one of them didn't use their handguns for that reason.

Apparantly that happens a lot because most seppo gun users are trained and responsible.

So it's real?

Kudos to him. That's bloody unreal.

Stupid question.

Can I drive my Ute through one of those car washing things, it has roof racks? Sign says no bike racks but doesn’t mention roof racks?? I haven’t washed it since buying it (not a car person). It gets pretty dirty from site.

I'd say he was aiming for the chest but still a good shot though. A pistol is a bloody hard thing to shoot straight.
