Was up there in May and the place was pumping with Gold Coast Suns energy. Posters of Ben King in pubs, every 2nd punter wearing some kind of McSuns attire and stopping me to talk footy.

Television and papers dominated with chat about just how good "Luko" and "The Ranker" could be.

Couple of blokes got kicked out of a pub punching on - one a Brisbane Lions diehard, the other COVERED in Gold Coast Suns tatts. Publican shouted at them "keep that secretarian shit out of my establishment".

The passion for AFL up there is palpable - and it's very real.
