I watched a bit of the Sydney/WB game today and thought I'd take more notice of Reid. There has been a bit of discussion on here that he would look good in the navy blue and I totally agree. Can definitely take a nice grab and looks the goods.
Is there any chance we could snare him? Is he contracted past 2011?

love to have him, what would it take to get him. 1st rounder, plus player. i doubt we get him. but he is the one i want at carlton, even maybe callum wilson from WCE would come cheap. ratten has said were gonna be more outside and get mature aged players, might do a J-POD with wilson, kicked 9 goals this week i think. natural full forward

It appears that there are too many talls at Ess, so yes a change of scenery and a club where he would be getting more games than not might do him wonders.

Carlisle looks to have gone past Gumby ATM, but i would hope the blues are getting into Gumbys ear. Only managed 30ish games in five years and would only have 1 year left to show at bommers so maybe with a 2/3 year deal could be tempted to try and secure his future in the AFL. If he can get some luck with gettng his body right I think he should make it.

Would love a true CHF

Totally agree Gezim(love that name) Sam Reid is a star on the rise. If I was Hughes, I would easily throw a 1st rounder at him. He will be a star and would hold down chf or ff for a good many years with the mighty navy blue.

I also read on the wce board I think that Wilson has been in talks with us, but I read that people there are happy to leave. Obviously Kennedy has his position and they don't need him. If we wanted him and he wanted to come to the dark side, I believe we could get him with a 4th or 5th rounder. Seems worth a shot.

But Reid is number 1 for me. Does anyone know if he is out of contract? There is no way Sydney would trade him.

Get them both, kp depth solved

make it happen swanny. only if reid wants to come home and seek a trade. will see what happens. all we need now is kpf depth in out list, give us more flexibility in the side

I think we should steer well clear of Callum Wilson, he is an out and out full forward and cannot play any other position which is vital in today's game.

I wouldn't recruit Lovett for age reasons but come on, the man has been exonerated by a court of law and deserves another chance at AFL, if we believe in the Aussie tradition of giving someone another go.

Isn't forgiveness and tolerance also part of our society ?
Morally and legally there is no reason why he shouldn't afl again ...

I'm not Saying recruit these guys, but there's 3 high risk, high reward players who will be available. 2 dirt cheap in Lovett and Fev plus the possibility of Lake. Wouldn't want our rivals to pick them up that's for sure.

The said truth is there is an conservative, self-righteous element to some of the fanbase and influential members of the club who are so pious and self righteous they believe players who make mistakes don't deserve a chance of redemption.

Andrew Krakeour has been the feel good footy story of the year for mine, but as i say, entrenched forces of conservatism will prevent a similar story happening at Carlton.

Why not Lovett?

If it is because he used to play for Essendon and used to cut us up. Yeah no way

But if it is because you still assume he is guilty despite being exonerated of blame by a court of law, then seriously guys get a sense of perspective

No thanks to Lovett.

Let's just call it a gut feeling.
I would imagine many clubs may have the same gut feeling.

Yes we can bring back a violent criminal back in the system, but not a man who likes the Women and a few beers who a top bloke. A bloke that never did any vicious thing.

I don't understand what you are getting at.

Gut feeling? Do you feel he will cause trouble? That his presence will upset the playing group or something along those lines?

To clarify I don't think we should get him as he doesn't give us anything we don't have and used to play for Essendon. But I take umbridge at the thought that he is being treated like a criminal despite being absolved of guilt

What I love about the Andrew Lovett story by the media is that all throughout his criminal court case he was referred to as a former St. Kilda player despite not playing a single game with them.

However, upon acquittal the first words in the article are "FORMER Bomber Andrew Lovett."

More than the rape case and guilty or not guilty, he falls into the Fev space of being a tool as a person. Just doesnt fit in with his team mates. Bombers were keen to get rid of him from a personality point of view...now saints as well.

So if this is the case he would have to offer up something extraordinary to get drafted...and to me, he offers nothing of extraordinary value to Carlton so no chance!

Look the blokes got massive issues but i also think he's being almost character assassinated by the media and footy fans over the years.

Dane Swan and a few of his punk mates beat the snot of a fed square clearer several years ago and the media don't harp on about that.

Not condoning his behaviour at all, but who are we to judge him if all we know is what the media tells us.

That piece of human excrement Rupert Murdoch and his Rat bag News Corporation is proof that mainstream media cannot be trusted to report on anything accurately anymore.

Surely you're joking. Last thing Carlton needs is another KP made of straw.
