Spot on here :thumbsu:
Why would we even entertain the idea really

We wouldn't.
Just thrown up here for some feed-back, I think.

As MS3 has stated we shouldn't have any problem getting Buckley with our 2nd. pick.
That 1st. pick may be important for any trades we may have working for us.

We have a very silly season coming up, so be best brace for it.

Yeah I think a second rounder will be the most we pay for Dylan, well I'm hoping anyway :o
Gives us a little bit more leverage to wheel and deal in the silly season as you so mentioned :)

How much longer is Majak Daw on the Roos' list? Could be worth a rookie pick as ruck insurance and a KPF project

Would have to be close to expiry you'd think, will he get a run this week? Would like to have a good look at the kid in the big time

Its a bit of a shame that we traded Jacobs last year... surely jacobs has a bit more value than hampson also...

I dont like how in 2 years, we could be losing 2 ruckmen...

Anyway, if it comes thru im sure it will be the right decision made...

Yep agreed, big sauce was a big loss for us IMO, but hey what could we do, the lad wanted to go home.

Both Sauce and Grigg will be starting their annual holiday in 5 days time while their old team mates will be preparing for the biggest game the club has played in 10 years.

I know what I would rather be doing.

Big Key position players are not hidden in the VFL, if they are any good they are snapped up pretty early, (JPOD is the exception to that rule).

Misinterpretation of my point.

I don't think we need to head hunt a big KPP. I'd prefer we look to the draft for the future, and shore up on a few middle-agers for the next few years who can fill a spot and play a role.

We pay through our teeth for a Reid or a Butcher, when we could put a bit of faith in Waite and O'halpin to cover in the near future, draft some good prospects, and rookie a guy who can come in and fill a need, big guy, crashes packs, chases the ball.

Have done so already with Casbolt (Rookie) and Mitchell (LTIL) Henderson (playing back to fill a void)

Look to put it more plainly. We shouldn't look for the answer to all our problems because all it brings is more problems. We shed draft picks and trade potential players to secure a young prospective KPP and we putt all our eggs in one basket. Great if it works, but disastorous if it doesn't.

I want us to look at the Jordan Lisle/Aaron Cornelius/Mitch Browns of the world. Not at the Butcher/Reids. Because they pose less risk to the strength and continuity of our list then the latter

May be a bit of left field but I still think we need some more midfield depth to help Judd, Murph and co and I think we should seriously look at getting Luke Blackwell back at the club on a rookie contract.

I thought he showed glimpses in his first stint at the club and since then he has gone back to the WAFL and dominated. He came second in the Sandover to Krakaour last year and was awesome in the GF but was overshadowed by Krakaours game.

He is a monty to win the sandover medal this year and could well play in a premiership.

He now has a mature body, his skills are good and I think it would be worth a risk to offer him a rookie contract.

He may not be Michael Barlow but I still think he has something to offer at AFL level.

I suppose I am a little caught up in the Butcher/Reid talks right now.
I look at our list and from all the early trade talk on here. I am wondering if Lucas goes for GWS, what would we receive as compo? He is a first round draft pick 2 years ago. Looks the goods when he is on the park and it would be a loss if he decides to go.
Would we receive a first round pick/number??? This would help in deals that we are trying to work out in the off season.
I hear that if Bower goes, we wouldn't get much for him, but as a package deal with Army, this may get us something worthy also...

Wouldnt get more than an end of first round compo for him i wouldnt think??
Maybe a band 1 compo pick at a stretch which would be the immediate pick after our pick in whatever draft we decided to activate it.

Can he actually play or is it all hype? If he's just another tall athlete who does something flashy every now and then which stirs up the hype then no thanks, we already have enough players who show glympses of potential and nothing consistant.

Yeah he was a bit of a loss. out of the 4 ruckmen we had he was the only one who looked like being able to take a mark. Also had good skills and footy brains. One day we will be watching him play really good footy for the crows. Hopefully we wont be regretting it.

Was asking about Majak because I wuld probably have more time for him than Casboult. The ruck insurance he'd give us would be nice also. He did a decent job against Hampson in the VFL a few weeks back and is agile enough around the ground.

Won't happen. North are just too in love with him.
Watched Majak in the pre-season and for someone who doesn't get a lot of the ball, boy does he look good. :)

Well, it's not.
Had Jacobs stayed, he would have been running around in the 2's and his value may have possibly been worse than for what we got for him.
We'll never know for sure but that's what I see.

If he was going, I would have thought GWS would be all over him for his promotional value to the large immigrant base in Western Sydney.

Far too sensible and rational to be posting on this board. Apparently the ends justifies the means. Hampson and Kreuzer are the two rucks that I want to play tag team for the next seven years. The sum is greater than the parts with these two mobile beasts who are prepared throw their weight around and go in hard.

They wouldn't be cheap. I don't know what it would cost to get Steven May, but he might be a cheaper option than already established KPP. May can play forward and back, but forward would probably be more his go at AFL level. Might be interested in moving with Dixon, Lynch, Gorringe (resting ruck), Lynch (resting ruck) and Day likely to be ahead of him as forwards.

Not sure if it has already been posted in here, but we have "reportedly" offered Butcher $350k/year

Is that about the same as we offered Warnock to get him over here ???

You'd imagine Port would be able to match that comfortably anyway. Very unlikely that we'll get him. As much as I'd love it.

The guys I mentioned weren't cheap. But they wouldn't break the bank like a play for Butcher or Reid would.

1 first round pick is a loss. A first round pick and a Best 22 player is a tragedy. Two first round picks (Goodness knows what we give for the second one) is a mortifying
