As cool as it woud be to have Butcher, another part of me would love to see him sign on with Port and lead them back up the ladder with Trengove and Boak.

See some youngsters take it upon themselves to be the hero.

Not sure if anyone's posted this before, but has anyone of you seen Butcher's SANFL stats? Link is below:

I don't want to read too much in to it as stats can be misleading. But nothing spectacular there, a few good games, essentially what you would expect from a young KP forward. His AFL form has come from nowhere and I would expect him to struggle against a better defence. Doubt he'll end up at princes park, but can't blame us for trying.
 
I know Waite is a favourite son of all. But what would his worth be?
I'm not saying we should move him on, but teams in our predicament try to get to the next level. We are close to the top 4 if not to the title, but maybe we may go down the avenue to package a good player for 1 or 2 players that will get us there.
I have read posts saying we aren't in the position to let 2 go for 1 player. But what about the other way around???
 
If we want to win a flag in the next 3 years, Waite is in our top 5 most important players. He's our only KPF and wouldn't have much value anyway.
 
Butcher has dominated talks over the past week or so but what about Sam Reid and Daniel Talia?

Both names have been mentioned previously but not a lot of talk of late. From all reports both have put off talks until seasons end and if you believe the rumors - both are considering a move back to Vic.

Butcher may be the better 'fit' right now but surely young Reid and Talia will come cheaper (especially Talia) and will also really fit well into our side.

I'd be pursuing these 2 ahead of Butcher.

I rate Reid very highly and mentioned months ago that he should be at the front of our recruiting list. Splits packs(which is what our small forwards need). Butcher has definately risen from not much. I think he will stay at Port and just enjoy his dollar rise over the next week or so.

I feel we are 1 mid and 1 exciting forward short. The backline will take care of itself over the next couple of years after last years draft.

Army is one that I think won't be part of our premiership window. Players like these it may be worth packaging a deal to someone while he still can get a game with us. If Lucas stays on, I can't see much room for Army over the next few. It may be time to cash in while he has a ok trade value.

Haha. Yes, I looked at the post and though. What the hell did I just write. But I think he and Bower might help us net something good. Maybe even with Lucas involved if he wants to go(though I hope he doesn't).
 
Myles Sewell anybody...
Has dominated for the past 2 seasons at VFL level...surely would be worth a punt.

I'd be surprised if Sewell ever gets picked up after getting overlooked last year when everyone thought he'd go.
 
Singing with the chorus re Reid. Would certainly rather we focus our efforts on him over Butcher. On a related anyone know how Lewis Johnston has been faring? Kicked a cracking goal earlier in the year but has been unsighted since...at least by me.
 
New name alert: Carlton looking into Fremantle's Dylan Roberton. I know absolutely nothing about him aside from the fact that he is listed as a 191cm defender on footywire and that he was the draftee that they got with the Marcus Drum pick from Geelong. He's also contracted into next year.

Thoughts?
 
Why would we go after another medium sized defender???not exactly what we need..
Maybe they are looking at a trade for Bower???

I'd like to get Roberton. He will be a good player.
Tall rebounding half back somewhat similar to Bower without the physical strength or the ability to play on a tall.

Wouldn't be looking at a straight swap for Bower, but if PB wants out, we could do a lot worse.

Fantastic.

He's the next Laidler, get him for nothing and he gets a chance at a new club.

He's a running type defender with neat skills, although they have let him down at times this year.

I think he's a pretty smart player but is definitely a flanker rather than a KPD.

Like the idea TBH but I definitely wouldn't be giving Bower for him alone.

Where has this come from?
