just been having a look at a few of the vfl kkp looking for someone to add with a late pick like we did duigan last year.
what do people think of player like t Mohr ,k hartigan and even s. pleming as defenders and c.sincloir ,a.bonaddio and d.galea up forward dont watch alot of vfl so would like some options of who is out there .
Also whats in the walf and sanfl come on interstate poster let us vics know who to look out for ?

Why would we go after another medium sized defender???not exactly what we need..
Maybe they are looking at a trade for Bower???
Possibly as Bower I think wants to go home, I wouldn't bother with that trade as we have like 50 medium size defenders. I would look for a draft pick, not something that possibly won't get a game in defense. This deal is pointless to the club in my opinion all your getting is a depth player at best. This would only push Duigan, Russell, Laidler, Davies, Touhy or White out of the defence spot. I rather take a extra midfield if we can't use the draft pick to add that pick with other to get Butcher or some key position player.

i reckon waite holds some trade value but i'd feel a bit guilty passing off a father-son ala hawthorn. not a name to come up normally but his form and injury over the last couple of years has left not-so-optimum output. now would be the time, it would certainly be a bit more aggressive than we are accustomed to.

I would hate to trade Waite and then win a flag in the next couple of years because he have given his all for the club in a dark time. The same with Scotland, Thornton, houihan and ohailpin

Stupid.

1. There is still room for loyalty in this sport. When there isn't I for one am lost to the game.

2. Waite is very valauble as a forward.

3. If we manage to secure a more viable option up forward his value appreciates moreso...good luck holding him as a wing or attacking HFF.

it is kind of questionable, yes. i've tried to buck the trend a little bit in this thread, either by looking at some players a little bit outside the square and hype (ie gourdis), and now by actually suggesting a player that has some worth that we could conceivably trade and not come out worse off.

1. trading one player is the end to all loyalty in the afl? you must have cried your eyes out when dumped josh kennedy for judd.

2. he is. however we could get another valuable (less injured, less suspended) forward in return. not to mention i'd be happy to have him in the side anyway but he is someone we could consider as a trade if necessary. once that might have not been the case.

3. i know, i know. for all the talk of 'letting him loose' on the wing or HFF if we have the numbers in the forward line, that could also mean he is a] excess to requirements and b] not as good as the other players who now play in his position. the other forward could also be henderson.

like fev, look at how we've managed without him. and may even need to do so in the finals. not a nice thought to trade him obviously but at least let's come up with some players that might seem attractive to other sides instead of guys on the fringes.

Rumor on the Adelaide board that Gunston is homesick and seeking a return to Victoria. He has looked very promising as a true CHF (however, i think a lot of his strong performances have come against poor sides)

However, I am still in favor of Jesse White/even John Anthony). Forwards seem to go through ebbs and flows.

(insert tooting my own horn) In last years 'rumour thread', i suggested the big Q stick, and i was laughed off with the same old comments of 'too slow', 'too old' 'past it'.

Experienced and talented forwards that are seriously out of form are usually medium risk/high reward/little cost.

Norman Gunston?

Anthony and white lol

BRIB lol

Come up with a better suggestion.

Jack Anthony is a bit of a spud but he had one nice season with Collingwood. Jesse White has potential. I believe he's been absolutely wasted in that Swans system style game and would excel in the right one. If the Swans didn't keep him, I'd definitely try and rookie him.

*reads last two posts*

err, dw mate...not sure it's worth me trying
Why are you being cheeky about it?

So you think a small forward will have a greater benefit to our team than a player who can play at both ends of the ground. He just needs to get away from freo.
You clearly have nfi if you think sylvia would be a better recruit than johnson for us. :thumbsu:

Not really my argument, my argument is johnson is at more value to us than sylvia.
Johnson makes the inconsistent Waite look like Bradshaw who was a great swingman.

Do not want.

Anyone who thinks that we couldn't find a spot for a high half forward/mid who kicks goals needs to take another look at our list.
