I can't understand the amount of support Cousins still gets from WC fans given the damage he did to the club despite numerous chances to change his ways.
Me neither mate. I have thought about it though and I think some of it can be explained with reference to the horrible season you guys had. If you'd done well I don't think there would be all this nostalgia for benny.

Sorry to go and cut back in time, but you'll all get over it. Been having a few drinks with the yanks Stronz, along with a few Argentinians and Chileans that are here. They're a pisser those blokes, real good fun. I won't be back in Perth for as long as possible, probably February 2010. I'm working up here until April, then I dunno. Staying in the US as long as possible though, unless I get a chance to work the southern winter in New Zulland.

I'm so glad that Booze Bus Benny got himself a seventh last chance. He's not going to be a smug, arrogant, little shit anymore and obviously he now knows that the Teflon coating is gone once and for all.

Somebody pass the sarcasm.

Anyone been to South Korea?

I've been offered a job there.
Only in a sexual sense....

See, KS my good man... it's this sort of high brow humour that your fans just don't possess, that makes them behave like cretins.

Yes, I hear there is a bit of a buffer zone around the 38th parrallel.

I had my eye on the 1,000th post. Damn you Stronzo!!!

What were you playing Ashley?

2/3 No Limit Hold Em, very soft game down there and when you can get a start, there is a lot of money to be made. Was up to 1100 on my 150 buy-in the other night, but dropped to about 700 by the end of the night, ran into quads twice...

Oi Ash, other ppl might confuse you for a turncoat :D

Yeah, we (Tigers) get a great player, and I am going to have to change back to WCE...:p

On the Cousins situation, its basically just fans wanting the success again after a dismal 2008. Had we been good enough to go deep in the finals, then very little would be thought of the issue...

Cam's a poker player too, at some stage we should try to tee up the 3 of us (and anyone else who is keen) heading to the cas for a BF poker showdown. I love taking money from Richmond/Glory supporters. :D

Even if you guys go into round 22 with a finals berth secured (which is highly unlikely) I'll expect him to be applauded every time he touches the footy which is odd.

I tried to organise a poker get-together similar to the Dockers one against the Swans, but no-one has responded to what I posted in the thread about Casino's around Australia and NZ. I post all my late night shenanagins in there...

How is this for lucky/irony. Just got tyres on my car, nearly had an accident on the way out of the tyre joint when some bitch didnt give way. Stopped about 30cm short of hitting her...

lol...

Do they have 2/3 blinds every night now, pretty sure it was only Friday-Sunday in the past. What time does the table usually open, I assume they don't have $2/$3 during the day midweek? Apparently it's a $200 buy in now aswell?

Can't believe how the mining companies are suffering, that was one thing I had heard about. My old man works for Rio Tinto and apparently they were considering shutting down the entire Dampier Port Operations for two weeks and Cape Lambert for four! It was not so long ago that I was standing on one of the wharves in Dampier listening to my supervisor telling me that Rio lost tens of thousands of dollars for every minute that the shiploaders weren't cranked up to full capacity. The ten minutes it took to drag a full ore carrier off the wharf and pull a new empty one in was considered as a blight on productivity, now they're considering sitting on their hands for two weeks!

Given your argument for the royalties for regions scam, I mean, program, was one based on "They earn it, therefore they should get more money", now that they are blowing money big time, and losing money hand over fist, should they actually be forced to pay money back, based on the same logic? ;)

2/3 tables every day, starting from 8pm, though the 5/5 and limit games run from 10am when the parlour opens during the week. What I usually do is drop in at 6ish, put my name down, go home for dinner, then head back just before 8 to play. Arriving after 7:30 leads to a pretty big line, as they are reluctant to run more then 2 tables of 2/3. Waited 2hrs the other day at 11:30:rolleyes:

And yes, the buy-in has changed, and is now a 100-200 option, rather then the flat hundred. Rake is still the same at 10% capped at $8

Cheers for the info Ash. :thumbsu:

Don't know if I could be bothered going in, putting my name down, driving home and then driving back though. What's your mobile number, you can put both our names down then send me a text when I'm near the top of the queue. ;)

I'm off to the cas this Sunday night for the Arsenal Liverpool game but doubt I'll be playing poker. Last time I played drunk I was on a bit of a roll but got kicked out for calling one of the players a princess. Talk about thin skinned!!

I never argued that the mining companies should get any money, merely that the people in country areas who earned the money that drove our huge budget surpluses for so many years should get a fair proportion of the royalties spent by the Government. If the Rio's and BHP's are losing money, then they should just suffer in their jocks. They had a good run, they went ahead with ambitious and ultimately greedy expansions to dig all of the ore up in a hurry, now that demand isn't raging out of control they have a whole lot of idle productive capacity. They ****ed up, but in no way is it terminal. Might just take a year or two for demand to get cranking again to levels where full employment of productive capacity is more viable. I seriously doubt that they are losing much money, if any. They just aren't making the shedloads of cash that they've become used to.

According to your previous argument, the economic downturn and reduced activity in the mining sector won't affect you city folks because you earn so much of your own money and don't rely on the royalties generated by mining companies operating in rural areas to fund your comparatively cushy lifestyles at all, right?

Nice straw man there big kev. ;)

It isn't what I am saying.

The country folks can't be solely responsible for making the money, and then not losing it you see... Even in the US, they still can't take that bumpkin logic away from you can they? Lol. ;)

The city folk will be badly affected as well... the difference being those that have the higher end skills (mainly in Perth) will have transferable knowledge, education and skills, whereas certain regional people don't have that opportunity.

Oh and by the way, the Dad was one of the first Metallurgists up there at Hamersley Iron back in the day, and they have been using his data to open up the last few sections up there. So us city folk can't be all that bad hey? They certainly don't contribute like country folk. ;) But we should be nice to each other... considering the Dad spent a lot of time up in Dampier... we could well be brothers, brother. ;)

Oh and Rio is losing money hand over fist on basically everything but iron ore and uranium. BHP is doing well. But aside from that, it's only really the goldies that are doing well. The golden ox looks bankrupt, as does FMG.

Geraldton is going to be absolutely decimated over the next few years.
