Hazare - Diagonally opposite The bath hotel - Best Indian ever!

Beyond India - Butter Chicken goes alright

The Spice Kitchen on Kensington Rd goes ok.

The 'best' Indian restaurant in Adelaide is meant to be the Jasmine. Ive never been there though.
Jasmine's is better for the beef and lamb products.
Beyond India is better with the chicken products.

Both consistently fighting each other for best Indian in Australia (well, Jasmine's did win that in the early 2000s, but Beyond India has taken control of SA for the last half a decade)

I claimed Beyond India was the best though, untill I tried Hazare on Tuesday.

Indian Tempations on Main North Road just a touch south of Gepps Cross is easily the best Indian I've had in Adelaide. The place looks like an absolute dump but I've never had anything from there that wasn't completely delicious.

Yep excellent place that one.

Travel a little further down Main North Rd and you'll come across Cafe Chennai. They are outstanding, and also reasonably priced ($8 for their butter chicken compared to $18 at Beyond India - and it's served in the same type of bowl). They do a southern Indian delicacy called chicken 65 which is absolutely brilliant.

Urban India on Henley Beach Road is ok. Nice food but expensive.

I was about to add this one. It's between this and Beyond India for mine. Of course, there are plenty of places I have yet to try.

What about for cheap Indian take-aways? I mean the places where you can get enough food for two people for under $30. What are peoples favourites? I've been regularly going to a place on Oaklands Rd called Delhi Spice. They've only been there for a couple of years but the lines get bigger every time I go there. Getting really popular. Very good takeaway for the low cost. Their malai kofta is a highlight.

Can't say I'm an authority on the subject, but if you're in mt barker and like Japanese food, check out subaru sushi and noodle bar.

Great food (massive serves, I can eat big, but have never finished a meal there,) and good prices. Eat in and you will get a complimentary miso soup (really good).

I've always found Beyond India kind of disappointing. Mind you I've only ever been to the one in Para Vista and the on in North Adelaide. Their Chicken Tikka Masala just isn't very nice. Never tried a Butter Chicken there though.

I went to Jasmine once and it was quite nice but not worth the amount of money it costs. Good if you want to host someone to a fancy meal, not if you're just looking for value for money Indian food.

I'll have to give Cafe Chennai a try brucetiki, thanks :)

For good Asian food, it's pretty hard to go past the Kwik Stix at Parafield Gardens (corner of Main North and Kings, next to Bunnings). The other two Kwik Stix are somewhat underwhelming but the Parafield Gardens one is consistently excellent. Their Salt and Pepper squid is fantastic, as is their black pepper chicken.

Vietnam Restaurant on Addison Road is very nice as well. Not super-authentic but very very nice. They can be a touch pricey for a small group but with a large group the banquets are good value and quite delicious.

For those far enough north, Pho Linh on Bagster Road (right next to the Salisbury North club) is one of the best Vietnamese corner soup stores going around. Of course the Pho is always delicious and very cheap, but their combination vermicelli is also fantastic.

Well I'm back from my America roadtrip. Covered 10,777km and 18 states in an RV with 4 of my mates, was amazing. Working tonight, not keen! Hasn't really sunk in that I'm home because I haven't had any time alone until now, my house has just been a revolving door of my mates who didn't come coming around to see me.

I did something very similar, did the summer camp thing and then did a road trip around America. Started in Connecticut went to dc, through Kansas to the Rockies, grand canyon, Vegas, La, Tijuana, San Fran, Yosemite, Chicago, niagara and back to new York. We bought a van off the side of the road and just saw how far it would get us. Awesome experience

Jasmine is pretty good but yes - a tad pricey. Often been there on 'company pays' gigs - that's never a bad thing :) Really enjoy their 'feed me I'm hungry' or 'feed me I'm starving' menu options.

Kwik Stix at Flinders was a common Friday lunch gig a few years back - not bad and godo value. If the one at parafield is that much better.. may bear checking out!

Vietnam, used to love it. Will still go back occasionally - but the magic isn't there for me that used to be. The bbq quail and cold roll entree's probably the highlight for me. They always pack'em in there so they're obviously doing soemthing right. (and they pack in a ton of chinese/vietnamese folks so must be reasonably authentic as well)

Personally I love Ky Chow on gouger for authentic, excellent, good value cantonese food. If you've never been there - check it out.
