Which one of the following options best describes your interest in the AFL?

This is how I would describe each of the options:

No interest
You either don't care about the AFL, hate footy, or have never heard about aussie rules. Why are u looking at this site?

Some interest
You read the footy results in the paper, or watch them on the TV news. Not really interested in sitting thru a game on TV let alone going to the game. You may have got interested thru a work footy tipping contest.

Occasional Footy Fan
You attend a game on the odd occasion, otherwise you watch your team play on tele. You turn the TV off if your team is losing badly. You don't have a club membership.

Clubman
You are a paid up member for your club. You attend most of the home games and watch most of the away games. You watch television footy shows on occasionally and follow your team closely in the media.

Footy Devotee
Similar to the clubman except your interest extends to the other teams. You watch a significant amount of football on the tele each weekend. You know most of the players in the competition. You follow all the teams closely in the media.

Footy Obsessed
You watch as many games as possible, even listening to whole radio broadcasts if need be. You attend quite a few games which don't involve your club. You read/watch/listen to every bit of footy information you can. Your boss would sack you if he found out how much work time you waste on footy.

Fanatic
Crikey, I can only guess. Maybe you go to all your teams training sessions. Maybe your wife/spouse left you during the season and you didn't notice?

Nowadays (since being extradited from my beloved Hawks) I've slipped to somewhere between clubman and Footy Devotee.

There's not much in the way of footy shows on TV before midnight up here so I basically only get the option of watching two matches - and most weekends I'd watch half of each regardless of who it is. If the Hawks arent on TV', I'll be listening to the radio coverage, or on the net!

Read AFL.COM every day, buy the Melbourne papers on Fridays, Sat, Sun and Mondays (and if you knew the effort I go to to find them on Sat and Sun you'd be very impressed) and thats about the extent of things thesedays.

Clubman myself , thats why I always lose arguments about football stuff that doesn't involve the dockers (just ask BSA).

ant - feel free to suggest another category that describes yourself.

Like Chris, I deemed myself a fanatic, but am downgraded to Obsessed.

I can honestly say without footy and music, I think I'd be dead...

The Hitman

Im Footy Devotee only by default. If i lived in Melbourne then i would be able to attend other games...and i would to.

So a mix of Devotee and Obsessed

Between devotee and obsessed. I do everything the devotee does, plus a bit more. I do go to neutral games, and I like to listen to the radio broadcasts of other games too.

The more I think about it, the more obsessed I reckon I am.:(

By your definition I would be an "occasional footy fan", only due to my lack of membership. I think "clubman" is probably closer to the truth.

Now you know why I don't post so often on the main board....

I am defintely a fantatic/obsessed...
I had a laugh at Racerx's description of being obsessed...

'Your boss would sack you if he found out how much work time you waste on footy.'

I was just thinking about that the other day ...
I might be in NSW, but I know what happenin in footy hehe

I watch ever game I possibly can, and if there isnt a game on tv i will listen to a radio broadcast...

I play on saturdays (and did play in another team on sundays aswell at one stage)...
I get to as many games as humanly possible, and look at newspapers, messageboards, club sites nearly every day ...

I even know the words to most of the clubs songs ...

This could even be bordering on 'sad' ... lol :p

I would be obsessed if I didn't live 400kms from the closest footy ground, and I can't drive there, no license. So I am obsessed in every other way, and go to the games EVERY time possible, follow ALL teams in media, but only SUPPORT the Eagles. Even though I can't get to the games, I am still a member!
