Team selection next week will be interesting.
Looking like Martin out for a few. Maybe Honey as a direct replacement for the HFF role?
You’d hope H and maybe Gov to come back, but who goes out?
Cottrell would be unlucky to be dropped immediately, he did some nice things and showed some real toe.
Fish will definitely stay in.
Maybe Betts gets a rest?

On field leadership needs a Saturn V rocket up the keiser. We’re lacking that little bit of inspiration in key moments of the game - instead we’re opening the door and time and again 5 goal swing to the bad.

I am encouraged that it was the younger guys that got us into that game though.

We are simply not a genuine contender yet.

Clock is ticking....

This! when you have marc murphy as a "leader" what do you expect? Soft as butter. Does selfish shit every game. Jumps out of the way and gets brushed aside like a child. Enough of that.

Teague, starting to think he has no idea and sos did a remarkable job! How many games do we have to endure 40 point or more turnarounds? Like seriously it's embarrassing. He better start learning. Killed our momentum putting pitonet back against nic nat when TDk was halving and evening beating him. Not just that, but **** how hard is it to play keepings off once they kick two in a row? Should be a rule!!!

TDK brilliant, sos got a gem there. Fisher was great. Cotrell not sure yet give him one or two.

I'm sick of these turnarounds ffs fix them!!!! How can you let it happen this many ****ing times? It's a travesty.

Ps, The umpires are ****ing duds, anyone who thinks they have no influence is deluded or gets off on trolling us

We didn't lose because of umpires, so not influence on the result, howlers both ways
Not buying what you are selling after today’s game Arr0w. Umpires were momentum killers for us and the impetus for them.

The very definition of influence

Season done really have to start playing for next year. Cripps is far off, even his best weapon of hitting a handpass in any situation has left him this season. Time to rest him for a game or two straight to get him close to right, or off to operate if needed.

Injuries mounting, players labouring and with no chance of finals why will they bother.

Prepare some farewells for Betts, Simpson and maybe Murphy (even though apparently he has a contract).

Play kids, figure out which ones we'll keep/trade and I hope our recruiting team is working hard (sack Barker and use that cash for recruitment top up).

As long as Richmond, Hawks, Pies and * don't win it this year I don't care.

And as long as we beat Adelaide for the remainder of the year and a win against Pies would be nice. I'll be able to write this year off as a pass.

Agree, 2 wins and percentage out of finals contention means that this season is now finished from that perspective. Dow needs to be brought in next, as soon as ****ing possible.

Give LOB some games in place of Simpson, Owies to relieve Betts, etc.

We were always going to cop hometown umpiring, we just had to be better in the second half. The bombing long down the line killed us, as it always does against the Eagles.

I’m happy with our ability to generate goals from nothing though. As we improve as a team we are going to start rolling sides with our quick ball movement and a bevy of clever small forwards.

Doesn’t hurt as much as last week but still hurts.

Can’t blame umps for brain fades and letting back in the game.

Changing the ruck structure when the momentum was on our side was a bad move and saw a 3 goal swing.

The ins were the highlight of the game. Really positives!
18 forward 50 tackles for 0 free kicks to there 5 tackles for 3 free kicks says something is very wrong with the umpires and umpiring in general, our forwards get nothing week after week after week no matter how hard we try they give us nothing, so yeah we can blame the umpires.

When you expend that much effort to retain the ball for 3/4 of the game and can’t even get 1 free kick for an easy goal it’s no surprise they have the energy to run over the top, just sick of it, can’t play against 25 every week.

Time to make the call on Murphy, cost himself another contract with this type of performance on the back of similar efforts.

We will not improve while he still makes poor decisions and can’t tackle or smother. Time to play another kid who is part of the future.

Offering him another contract would be irresponsible. Games need to be invested into LOB who would provide more both offensively and defensively.

Thought we were fantastic today and also on the wrong end ( as usual over here in WA ) of the umpiring. And losing our most in form player for most of the match didn't bloody help. If this was played in Melbourne it would've been a different story. No doubt whatsoever. We have got a bloody good team and I cannot wait to play the bloody Weagles in Melbourne ( For a change ) next time. Bring on the Dockers!

We have a serious problem in centre clearances.

If the opposition ruckman wins the tap, our blokes are extremely reactionary. It’s only compounded by our crippling lack of pace in there. Makes it impossible for our defenders when the ball comes in so fast and so often.

Credit to Kennedy, TDK, SPS, Jones, Fish.

Murph, Crippa and Walsh tried their guts out. He still struggles in 1 on 1 tackles but I haven’t seen Murph throw himself at the ball like that for a couple of years.

Willo doesn’t have the confidence at the moment. Had a couple of ok moments towards the end but his defensive work and marking are really lacking. Has a bright future but isn’t performing at the level right now. (That said I’m not sure who the alternative is, Marchbank maybe?)

Cottrell was fine for a debutant, something to work with. However given Dow getting BOG in the reserves he’s the most likely to come back out of the side if we want to give Dow a game.

Teague and co really need to put in a plan B for when the you know what hits the fan. No team in the league concedes goals as quickly as us when the heat is on, and from what we’ve seen it doesn’t appear that we react in any major way.

There’s enough positives to take today, even though our optimistic push for finals is as good as dead. Freo becomes a massive game for our confidence and the rest of our season.
