think you could also say Newnes was closer to where the ball landed vs where it went out.Pretty much, but the critical point was that even though Gibbons was closer to the boundary line when the umpire nominated the player, it was Newnes who was closer to where the mark was set.
That's what I saw and that's what I think came about. It's hard to spot, but it is there as Newnes walked towards the umpire.
not that it matters the AFL are all about the vibe
