Changes only needed to cover injuries.

Bring Wood in for Garner (inj)

Swallow (inj) out for Froggy.

Atley on thin ice but I wouldn't be averse to dropping him, moving Dal into his role in the team and bringing in Clarke or Mountford into the midfield rotations.

i know we are 3-0 but when will the coaching staff bring in some fresh blood? i have no doubt we would still be 3-0 with 1 or 2 younger players playing.

We were very close to losing two of those games and Brusbane in Brisbane has always been a banana skin game. I have many doubts that taking experience out and bringing enthusiasm in would have delivered three wins.

Looks to me like some of the draftees are putting pressure on the seniors and they are getting the yips, Mountford for instance would give Swallow and Cunnington a flogging if he played against them.

I assume this is a joke. If not, it belongs in the Bigfooty "where being young is better than being good" hall of fame.

Am I missing something?

INJURIES
North Melbourne:
Taylor Garner (hamstring)
Melbourne: Nil

BS isn't one to drop blokes for poor form. There's the potential for only one change being Garner out injured.

It then becomes a toss up between Wood, Turner and Nahas - the role Garner plays compared to Wood, reduces the possibility of a Garner and Wood straight swap.

Look at Spitta's game day performance this season, he's looking under done. I don't expect our captain to be dropped, but rested to regain fitness is an injury in my book.

That's us fans hoping he is injured. There is no other plausible reason for his form.

Fair enough. I'm positive that it will not happen but it would be a massive statement from Scott to drop him.

I'd hope we have enough flexibility in our side to swap Garner for Wood.

He needs a solid block of preseason type training followed by a couple in the VFL. Personally, I'd be targetting a return for the Sydney gsme. Get the skipper right for a big 2nd half.

Wood in for Garner
Nahas in for Thomas
Dumont in for Swallow

People thinking we will or should drop Spitter is laughable. Yes, he had an average game but if BS isn't willing to make the minor changes, he will never drop the captain.

Having said that, LT needs a wake up call in the VFL again.

Also, We won't be blooding Mountford against Freo and we wont be dropping Jacobs considering Nat Fyfe will be running around on the same park.

Out - LT and Garner
In - Na Na Na Na Nahas and Sugar

Turner didn't even play particularly well in the VFL.

I am tipping Sugar for Garner - Scott has been keen to get him back into the team, and he brings that physical pressure in the forward line. Wood has a week of good VFL form, which is great, but it's hard to see the team being reshuffled to fit him in.

As usual, the halfback frailty is complicated - Atley better yesterday, Wright far better than Ats in R1, so no-one has a really sustained run of poor form and it's hard to bring Mullett in.

Scott has shown that LT is a guy he's happy to drop if it gets to that - some bad goal kicking but in general play I just don't see Thomas being anywhere near poor enough to omit. The final game-saving contest isn't enough to rate a game on, but that is the kind of desperation he has been bringing to every game so far and it is invaluable. We'll see.

Thompson saved by limited alternatives.

Swallow will only be out if he has a legitimate injury. Three games in and scratching for form as a team doesn't seem like the time to be playing games with resting anyone important, let alone the captain.

So one change for me.

you don't rush to throw out experienced players who've proven they can perform on the big stage for some kid who's only proven that he can play at TAC or intra club level.
Certainly not after 3 rounds when you're 3-0 . They get extra time to find some form.

Spitta's had form issues before and regained his touch..So he's nowhere near being dropped
I also thought Atley was showing signs yesterday that he's starting to find his dash, plus we desperately need his pace..so he will be safe

so only Wood or Turner for Garner as the changes IMO

Swallow had the 2nd most tackles on the ground today. Missing tackles is not the reason to drop him.

Jacobs kept Jones to 6 touches in the 1st half. He plays on Fyfe this week.

I'm happy to play Jacobs, but if he isn't going to tag like he did in the 2nd half he is a very limited footballer.

With swallow, his kicking was below average, while he did get 11 tackles he missed a significant number that he would usually make, he looks like his labouring/struggling to cover ground. Why play someone who is obviously under done when you have guys in the 2's playing with form. Its not blight on Swallow, he is still one of my favourite players but its obviously he is well below his best.

Forward pressure is important and I'm not sure if Wood is seen internally as a direct replacement for Garner. Having said that Wood deserves to be rewarded for his excellent performance against the * in the VFL.

I can't see the coach making massive changes.

I'm going with Wood for Garner but wouldn't be surprised if Turner got the gig instead.

I agree with you on Atley. After watching the replay (it's hard to judge a game with your face in your hands all day:oops:) I thought he did some good things. I wouldn't be dropping him now.

I'm not on the 'drop the skipper' wagon, but he does look way off the pace. I know what my plan for him would be, but realistically we will play this week. I hope he has a big one and we can shut down the debate:thumbsu:

Lamont did make mention of Wood's work rate both ways. He's put in a big one in the ressies at just the right moment. I reckon he'll play.

Good post KR. But I think Swallow must have tightness/soreness in his leg. If that is the case, he may need to be managed and rested. Certainly won't be dropped, as you said

My two cents -

Obviously Garner out with hammy. but probably didnt do enough to keep his spot anyway. In - Wood

Out - Lindsay. Lindsay is easily top 10 player in our team. But at the moment his confidence is shot and it is counteproductive to leave him in the side. He has historically always lit up the VFL when omitted, and id expect him to find touch and confidence and return as the player we know and love. In - Turner/Nahas

Out - Spitta. He clearly is lacking match fitness and touch and is a liability at the moment. Let him find it in the VFL and give someone else an opportunity. Ideally Clarke or Mountford. But more likely Dumont

On thin ice: Atley and Wright... need to improve considerably. Otherwise Mullet to come in for one.

Also Jacobs - if he doesnt tag, he shouldnt play. Simple dis.
