Fantastic performance today. I was so impressed with how we responded after conceding those two quick goals to relinquish our lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter. Loved Dow's effort around the ground, a 20 possession + 2 goal breakout game can't be too far away at all.

Whilst we didn't directly concede any goals from it, I thought we were very vulnerable kicking out from behinds today. I love Daisy's endeavour but taking the kick in duties is not his go. Simpson's disposal seems to be on the decline too. Can't wait to get Williamson back in the side, he will be able to provide a much more penetrating kick out option.

I've refused to watch the review shows throughout the year, I'll be tuning in this week though..No doubt the narrative will be about how poor Essendon were and not about our performance. The hatred for Carlton in the current media circles is incredibly obvious.

As long as we don't mistake slow and tall.

Eagles have played 3 tall defenders and 4 tall forwards, most of the season, along with a midfield that isn't quick nor being elite

Dogs and Bummers are smaller, quicker outfits, yet their results don't mirror the so called trend

I'm not mistaking tall with slow...but that's what i'm saying, Casboult and Silvagni are slow.
I recognise that McKay and Charlie are not so they're fine.

Adelaide go tall but Lynch & Jenkins can really run. Walker and McGovern aren't the quickest but are good players and better than Cas & SOS at this stage.
WC has Kennedy who is a gun, Darling is pretty quick and Lycett. Who is the 4th? Nic Nat running like a midfielder helps their balance too.

Essendon are smaller? They are one of the taller teams with Stewart, Danniher & Hooker for most of the year.

Dogs issues go clearly beyond their tall/slow structure and they have been improving. They won a premiership with this set up not long ago.

Taken some time to enjoy and allow this to sink in before jumping on here. Absolutely ecstatic. Winning ugly or not, four points is four points and it ends that horrible streak. A lot of positives despite that though. First off, I just want to mention the efforts of one E. Curnow. He was something else today. His consistent pressure on the ball carrier as well as utilising his ability to win the ball was great to watch. 13 tackles, 2 goals, 7 clearances and 24 touches. The guy is severely under rated by opposing teams, he's one of those players that you know will give it his all every time he steps over that boundary line and head into battle. In saying that, our midfield today really stood up as a collective. Cripps' influence wasn't at his highest but he still bullied those around him at the stoppages and showed once again the contested beast that he is. I don't know about others, but Crippa seems to have improved his first few steps exiting a contest, in terms of explosiveness and ability to break away. Was a trait from his game today that really stood out for me. Kreuzer was fantastic around the ground and imposed himself. 19 contested and 9 clearances is massive.

C. Curnow and McKay worked well today. Mobile talls who can run the ball as well as take on opponents is an asset. As mentioned, taking some tall timbre out of our structure (due to circumstance or not) really helped and balanced us out. Charlie worked his way into the game after the 1st and I feel his work imposing himself on contests inside fwd 50, and obviously his 3 majors, really contributed to us taking the points. How good was McKay's second as well! He's showing signs each week that really are encouraging. Dow and O'Brien also showed signs again. LOB's first quarter was great, was everywhere and got himself involved in more of an attacking sense. Dow may have only had 11, but I felt he looked like he was moving better than when i've been watching him previously. More explosive, more effort, just more confident it seemed from the stands. Enjoying his first steps into becoming a major piece in our midfield.

Jones and Rowe were absolutely fantastic today down back. Jones' ability to come over the top and spoil time after time was immense and his reading of the play was top notch, allowing him to do so. Rowe nullified Stewart, trying to get body on body at any point when the ball was being delivered in and make a nuisance of himself at the contest. Rowe has been great since he's come back in. Really happy he's found that form asap coming off a major injury. Simpson and Daisy need to be commended on their games as well, enormous. Daisy has re-invigorated himself down back. Think he's assisted the way we transition the ball out of defence and pairs well with the running types of Simmo and co. At the moment, would like them both to have one more year.

Lastly, we bag the crap out of these sometimes but Kedge, O'Shea and Lamb for me played very well today. Played their role well and contributed when needed. This is what has made Richmond successful recently, the lesser players really standing up when needing to be counted allowing an all rounded team effort to be produced in order to win games rather than individual performances dragging them over the line. Thats what we had today - a fantastic team effort. Pressure was through the roof and we backed each other. I am rapt and i'm sure the boys and the club are as well. Ps: Stringer and Goddard are flogs. Couldn't be any better to watch these types melt throughout the game.

Kennedy, Darling, Lycett, Waterman. Kreuzer is compatible to Nic Nat, in terms of adding to the midfield

Essendon have tall forwards, but as you stated, mobility is more important

Dogs won, not because of their setup, or they would have backed it up over the last 2 years and still been a threat

Remember, while the Tigers won the flag last year, the other 7 sides in the 8 had taller setups than the majority of sides that missed the 8

Lets be clear about the dogs they have a completely different side to when they won the flag they are younger than us at present given their injuries .
And you didnt actually rate the dopers as any good before their current glorious patch of shitness ?

Great win today, had to dig deep a couple of times, but by halfway through the last was pretty confident we would hold on, just looked more desperate, composed and the endeavour was great.
Defence worked well today when we were able to slow the delivery through the midfield, every time they broke a line they looked dangerous. The pressure and support from the midfield makes all the difference.
Ed Curnow was fantastic as he has been all year, Cripps is an incredible player (imagine him with the support of an A class midfield), Kruz put in a great effort, Jones had his best game this year I thought, just to name a few of the stand outs for me.
Saying that I think a special mention needs to go to Lamb, seems to thrive when given a task, much like against Hawks last year. Give the man a mission every week.
How good is it to get on the board this year, especially against the Bombers? Took great pleasure in watching it with my Bombers supporter mate.

Is it just me or Kerridge's disposal and decision making improved?

I think he's improved as a player for sure and believe he has a role to play with our young midfield.

Not just you, I was saying it before the first game based on his last 9 games last season. Think he has gone beyond being a role player.

Stay on the facts

I was talking about all this so called crap about smaller sides are better or the way to go

Strange though, since the Dogs won the flag, they have made a concerted effort to bring in more talls, draft/trades/FA

Waiting for Kid Congo to hit the stage at the Croxton. Some nights I wish I still drank!

At least you would still have an excuse for your Alzheimer's ..........
