What if he is, according to MC & CS?
Maybe by clearing a pathway for Danger et al to do their stuff.
He was definitely dragging Siciliy away from the action for periods there, not that. Sicily is in great form, but there probably is not much space for OH to do what he did last year with the form and and methods of action that Danger has.
Talking about decoys sounds far fetched but I know for sure it happens.

It's possible and there's no doubt sometimes he will be asked to be a decoy to create space for others. But i would like to see him contribute more defensively when we don't have the ball.

I don't think Duncan gets to 300 I think Scott knows the value of 4 point and won't risk them for one players milestone I hope he takes the same attitude with Cam Guthrie as well and bring him back through the 2s and only promote him if he's killing it, none of the preferential treatment Jack Steven got trying to run him into form at AFL level.

Scott clearly won't risk it now when we have a very tough month coming up. But later in the year when the draw is easier and we have rich twice and North etc that's when I'd expect it. He will probably play 4 games as sub to carry him to 300 (like hawthorn did with breust). But he's clearly a backup player and really been kept on the list to be a senior head for the vfl team. I don't think Guthrie body will ever get back but I wouldn't pick him either.

Is any of that awareness and indecision maybe resisted to not having the team mates with awareness and ability to run to position? Effective disposals take two to tango.

He might have better awareness and decision making but then just get mown down by the speed.

The way the speed of the game is going now its very hard to play runners that are so slow in defensive transition.

O'Sullivan, Dempsey and Humphries are the only ones who look guaranteed 22. Neale is being every opportunity because of his height. Mannagh is a mixed bag, Clark has been disappointing, Mullin still an experiment, No idea about Wiltshire.

Mannagh is an absolute 22 lock. Neale isn't but they like the flexibility of having him take some ruck contests so we can drop blitz or sdk behind the ball as a spare and I don't think we have another tall fwd who can replace that like for like.
Guys like Clark and knevitt are very much fringe of the 23. Wiltshire I'm looking forward to seeing but realistically we won't play 5 small fwds (and the other 4 are locks) so I'm not sure how he stays in the team.
Whether kolo gets back in and whether we can fit him and COS in (we probably can but it probably depends where sdk plays) will be interesting as will what we do with mullin.

Towards the middle part of the year and even round 17? Vs Tigers at home I can see them dragging Duncan to 300…he deserves that much and hopefully we can rest some players in the second half of the year to allow those 4 games

He's got good hair. At 180cm he's a small forward. We already have Close, Stengle and Mannagh. What can he do that they can't?

I’d assume they will play Mannagh in the Miers role further up the ground and play Wiltshire deeper. When Miers is available he’ll likely go straight back out (unless he kicks 5 🤣).

You're allowed to be a little positive about your own club, you know.

That's when I was thinking. At the moment we need to bank wins and aren't even top 4. If you play him against say West Coast, then say gc at home and/or Richmond, plus Saints at home or north then he would end up bringing up 300 at home against Port or ess (I say they would play him mainly at gmhba as the narrower ground hides his legspeed better no way would I play him at the mcg). We should be closer to top 4 by then and those are games we are less likely to lose so I assume that's the plan.

In the VFL he's playing a more versatile role than that of simply being a small forward

While Close & Stengle are at their most effective in and around that forward 50

Wiltshire looks a bit more in the mould of Mannagh or Miers where he'll work to the ground, be involved in along the wings & through the guts, before working back into the forward 50 with the ability to finish off the play

Endurance is a strength of his which would likely have helped in him getting the nod to replace Miers

Yes but you still can't play 5 forward half smalls particularly when your midfield is thin. Wiltshire won't stay in the team unless either a) he shows ability to play as a genuine mid or b) they move mannagh to be a permanent .midfielder. but it's good to give him a couple of games and reward his improvement.

Thinking of heading to this one
What time do people generally arrive to get a decent seat on level 4?

When gates open or do people line up earlier?

We just cant play Mannagh as a permanent mid.
Last week he was caught inside 50 a couple of times.

I'm ok with that. Because he typically just doesnt hesitate taking a ping at a goal.
I loved his 2 early goals.

Miers used to do that but his role has progressed up field. We need Mannagh forward 1/2 of the ground 100% of the time.

This is the type of multi role our coaching group aim for, and the type of flexibility Managh had to learn before being returned to the Seniors.
They've watched him closely (like you) and no doubt when things were looking likely, he would be extremely tutored in our game plan. Wish him all the luck in the world, there's a bit of a soft spot for a seagull kid from down my road, as is Clark. Regardless, we have to love Wells, Mackey and Co for thinking inside the box! Go you good things.

If we name our sub from the current bench, are we going with Clark, Henry, Mullin or O'Connor?

It cant be mullin. What if we need to bring him on in qtr 1 and the hip then caves in?
Unfortunately, O'Connor.
He doesnt deserve it. But he's best suited.

I agree with this, but he is a bit of a genius getting free and streaming through the centre for the hand pass, so there's that.

Defensively, not so much, but once again not afraid to knuckle it out at the bottom of a pack. I think the occasional freeze like we seen last week, can be attributed to low Seniors experience, requiring quick thinking above VFL standard. That whole forward section including Henry, need to develop more cohesion, only natural given the changes. Clear leads are needd, rather than hopeful pings. Shaun acknowledges his errors, and can only get better as we go, and he will.
