Fantastic read, how about the Tankers supporters predicting big things when in fact they have turned into a basket case. How's this for rating your list really highly back in 2009, have a look at who has turned out to be rubbish or has deserted the Tankers ship in the three years since, BOLD comments are mine -

hey can a knowledgeable WC supporter chuck up a list of your best top prospects... i want to run a poll WCE v MFC on their best talent for the future, as i am genuinely interested. The FUTURE remember, not at this moment...
In no particular order:

Morton (GONE)
Sylvia
Watts (SHOULD HAVE TAKEN NATANUI!)
Davey (still young) (YESTERDAY'S PLAYER)
Frawley
Grimes
Jurrah (GONE)
Scully (I think its fair to chuck him in) (GONE)
Garland
McLean (GONE)

others: Blease (GONE) and Strauss, Petterd (GONE), Bennell (GONE), Wonaeamirri (GONE), Martin (GONE), Bate (GONE), Warnock (GONE), Rivers (GONE)and Jones and of course we also have pick 2+18 after Scully

THINK I'LL SLIP OVER TO THE TANKERS BOARD AND STIR THEM UP!

Why are Adelaide supporters still posting on here? I'm flattered that they have come to enjoy our company so much after the Tippett saga, I guess we're just awesome

While WC were shite in 2009, the memorable clashes with Wonnateary33 were a lot of fun that year. Wonna's bold predictions regarding Melgorne and WC turned out to be most spectacular fails. Most knew his predictions would turn out to be such at the time, but he never listens and never learns.

Some funny comments regarding the Swans too, especially given the Swans won a flag 3 years later. The mods should've left the thread open so that everyone could've slung corn-riddled poo at the Meltank supporters involved.

The linked thread provides great nostalgic value. It's the thread that keeps on giving. Good work, DA, for dedicating a thread to it.:thumbsu:

That thread predates our '09 super trade week and superdraft. Given the state of our list before JPK, McGlynn, Mumford, Reid, Jetta + Rohan arrived, the next few years didn't look great.

2010's recruitment didn't hurt, either.

Yep if you remove those players from our list we would have serious holes to fill. It goes to show how much a year or two of good trading and recruitment can change a teams fortunes.

I wasnt suprised the predictions for our team but the Melbourne love was way over the top. Melbourne were a team with very few if any quality or potential quality older players and poor morale draging them down from regular beatings. All they had to show for it the way i remember it were high picks and many young players with potential.

All the premiereship teams i can remember had at least a few quality 26+ year olds who would be first 22 on any list in the AFL to lead teach and set a good example for the young players to learn from. This is an ingredient i believe is almost necessary for all teams when building towards a premiership and is the main reason West Coast have improved so quickly.

Yup. Geelong built a dynasty on the back of 2 brilliant draft seasons.

1999 - Corey, Chapman, Mooney, Ling, Enright.
2001 - Bartel, Kelly, Johnson, Ablett jnr.

Haha, thanks for that DA. What a funny read.

A: I think Sydney will win a GF.

B: But they've got to rebuild...

A: Oh, right, forgot that each team has to completely strip the cupboards bare and re-build after any form of success or retirements.

B: That's right; And those teams who have done this and have been hauling high draft picks are certain to convert these new boys into a team of unstoppable superstars.

A: Yeah, completely agree. Well, so much for that 'bloods culture' crap then ey?

B: Too right. Tooooo riiight.

A: So you reckon Melbourne?

B: Yeah, or Port.

A: Nice.
