YALLOURN SPORTSMAN BADLY HURT Motor Collision I YALLOURN. Thursday. - Jack Turner, 27, employee of the State Electricity Commission, a prominent Gippsland League footballer, and one of Yallourn’s leading cricketers, received severe internal injuries when a motor, cycle he was riding came into collision with a stationary transport truck early today. _ He was riding along Railway Avenue ; when the collision occurred in front of :the Yallourn Garage. , Turner was returning home from work and hit the truck, which, 'apparently, ' he failed to see because of the poor 'light, with terrific force.

I was quite interested to read this, as Yorketown was my home town in my younger days. This did happen a bit before my time, however, and I don't recall ever hearing about this chap.

The story does get a mention in The Advertiser, though it has him scoring 27 goals: https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/35604551 (12 Aug 1938)

So it seems he may have come from WA originally. It looks like he was prepared to go anywhere to play for a 'shilling' or two. He played for West Torrens in 1933 & 1934, then for a country team, and in 1936 sought a clearance to South Adelaide. The year before he played for Yorketown he had played for another team in the same comp., and he was also playing cricket on Yorke Peninsula, despite (I believe) still living in Adelaide. He does seem to have been a bit of a 'character', in strife for obtaining goods by deception and named in divorce proceedings, so perhaps there were other reasons why he kept moving around!!

Just a few corrections to get your records accurate.

● John Morton's 23-goals was kicked in the TAFL (Northern Division) in 1951.
● Steven Gough kicked his 23-goals for Evandale, not Evansdale.
● Greg Howard booted the old Huon Football Association record of 22-goals for Cygnet against Franklin, not Franklyn in 1976.
● Scott Palfreyman's 21-goal effort for Hutchins against OHA in 1961 was in the TAFL (Southern Division).
● Leo Graham's 21-goal effort for Woodsdale against the now defunct Parattah Robins in 1972 was in Oatlands District Football Association, not League.
● John Button booted 20-goals for Lindisfarne, not Lindisfarme in the TAFL (Southern Division) in 1977.
● R.Doyle's 18-goals for Mt Nicholas in 1935 was in the Cullenswood Football Association, not Cullenwoods.
● Brendon Fevola's 18-goal effort for New Norfolk against Huonville Lions (Huonville-Franklin merged in 1998) equalled the Southern Football League (Tasmania) record.
This was set by Brad Howarth (Channel) against Sorell at Snug Park on 15 July 1996. Howarth's 18-goals is not listed here.
● A.Lang's 17-goals for Snug against Kettering in 1952 was in the Kingborough Football Association, not Kingsborough.
● Cary Millhouse, not Corey, booted 17-goals for Claremont against Lachlan in 1992 in the TAFL (Southern Division), not the TSAA, which never existed.
Millhouse was a TFL star with Glenorchy and Hobart. Fourth highest goalkicker in Glenorchy's entire history and was most recently seen on TV screens as one of the Tasmania Police Detectives reinvestigating the Lucille Butterworth disappearance in 1969.

Any info on Dale Anderson?
Career seemed to been short at melbourne
http://demonwiki.org/Dale+Anderson

The multi-talented sportsman kicked a record 22.15 in a game against East Devonport in 1952 and also played six first first-class cricket matches for Tasmania in their pre-Sheffield Shield era between 1952 and 1964.

After kicking 10 goals in the last three weeks of 1953 he played in Round 1, 1954 and was then dropped. Anderson moved to Williamstown in June 1954. Northcote had attempted to sign him in May of that year but Melbourne refused them permission.

Northcote tried again to get him from Williamstown in 1956: https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/72537439 || https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/72538357

Geoff LePoidevin 27 & Paul Kinna 24 vs Moyston in 1998.
Within a week or 2 of each other breaking and re-breaking ADFA record..

I thought from memory LePoidevin may have kicked 21 or 22 earlier that season vs Moyston also, but my memory may be letting me down.
