As i said before

Trengove + their end of first round PP/second rounder for our first rounder + second/take your pick out of our 20-30 "depth" players

thats players ranked in the 20-30 range in our list, not suggesting we have 20-30 depth players

Butcher gets persisted with until he's at least 25 as long as his attitude is up to it.

You don't trade away top 10 draft pick KPPs unless they've absolutely proven they'll never come good. Otherwise you could have Mitch Farmer playing in your ressies while Jay Schulz has a breakout season at another club.

Good KPPs are too hard to find to be trading potential away.

Don't think a 23y.o 205cm ruckman would last to pick 5 in the rookie draft,
IMO, Redden will stay contracted.

I think he's talking about Jed Redden.

Ah Chee is next years draft and we won't be getting him for a rookie pick, we need to invent the brother brother rule quick smart for Harry Wines and Callum though.

I think it likely that our current ah chee will be delisted - 3rd year and has done little.
Not even 21 yet. Patience is a virtue, his game Sunday gave me that little glimmer of hope yet again!

On Trengove, according to afl.com today it seems a mis- or un- diagnosed navivular fracture dating back to december 2012 (no typo) has been hobbling his progress on field, and he's been playing through it ever since.

The Cats' Matthew Egan famously *broke* the same bone in R22 2007 and was operated on the following week, then again at the start of the 2008 season after the screws were removed but the pain remained.

About five minutes googling reveals that this sort of fracture is relatively hard to spot on scans (ie when not obviously shattered), has a long healing time, can be career ending if left untreated for too long, and needs ongoing management by the patient. The Melbourne medical/fitness team must be ... less than stellar ... or Trengove is a tough kid with a fairly high pain threshold. Or some combination thereof.

Do not want Jack Trengove for the following reasons:
1. We have more pressing needs: ruckmen and KPFs.
2. His injury sounds like the sort which could limit his impact for the rest of his career.
3. He would be coming from a club which saps every last bit of talent from its young players. Seriously, have we actually recruited a player from Melbourne in the last few years? Not sure I want to start now.

Our prime recruiting targets through trading should be Tomlinson and Lycett.

I agree, we have others that could go before him, to give him a chance, like Sammy C he was recruited as an underager

Look I am not saying he is an AFL footballer and he definitely will make it, however his game last week looked similar to Paul Stewart and with a 7 year age gap between the two may make a smooth transition. May get another 12 month contract if his progress continues.

Is walking a very thing tight rope

Did Trent Croad in too.

The injury is one that wil either stop him from playing footy all together or after the proper rehab will be 100% fine

Can't think of any players that had the same thing and it was a niggling injury in the fututre (who didn't quit footy within the 2 years

Point 3 is really irrelevent

Point 1 Is in an interesting one

Lycett fills the ruck need, rookie list Haren/similare tall can play down back prospect and if we still have a pick 16-29 somehow and use it on a ruck/KPF "Jesse I don't know if i'm willing to leave SA for AFL" Watchman i'm looking at you

That'll leave our Ruck Stocks looking
Lobbe
Redden
Lycett

Top 30 prospect/Watchman*
Trengove*
Haren*
Westhoff*

Looks a lot better than
Lobbe
Redden
Renouf

Trengove*
Westhoff*

Last i've heard is Watchman isn't 100% sold on moving into a career in AFL if he had to move state, one of the blokes that won't go into footy post playing career, whether that be at AFL or SANFL level. Can play well, wonder how much of this talk will get out though

Regardless of whether or not the injury will impact Trengove long term, the fact remains that he isn't a player we need. We desperately need more ruck depth, and also need to improve our KPF depth. And point 3 isn't completely irrelevant. The negative impact of a club on its young players should be a legitimate concern if we are looking at recruiting a player from that club. I agree with you regarding Lycett, Haren and Watchman, although keeping our first round pick to pick up Watchman would leave us with no chance of trading in Tomlinson though. Wouldn't be disappointed if we used it on Watchman though.

Can't see us getting tomlinson as much as i would love to

unless it was

we finsih top 4

and Ken goes

"Hey Adam, you at CHF at year is the difference between us and flag"

He goes yep alright PAFC is home now

and we trade our first two picks

It will impact him long term?

James Hird says hi.

There was a reason that we tried to trade picks 9 and 16 for trengove (well pick 2)

Cause he is a great talent, that talent doesn't go away, it just can't be released

Port can release players talent through correct opportunities and training regardless of previous clubs

Ebert, Schulz and more recently Monfries and Polec are examples of that
