failed his medical.

poor bastard. some players just have bad luck , but i wouldnt be alone in suspecting melbourne's handling of trengove is why a simple injury has turned into something that has threatened to end his career prematurely.

Navicular injuries can take quite a long time to heal, so I'm not really surprised that he's had a setback. That being said, can't help but to feel for the lad. He's such a good bloke off the field, deserves much better than this.

Not knowing much, anything, about it, what did Melb do to make this worse??

Bad news for Trengove and probably shit management by Melbourne. Wouldn't have minded bringing him to Port if he was fit.

I can't really see us getting any deals done outside of Ryder despite what The Smaller Warrior has said about a big signing.

The Ryder deal will go down the the last minute and even if we get to keep our picks there wont be much time to finalize any other deals.

I think we will do that, ship off Newton for more opportunity and probably pick up Lowden for a packet of chips.

its not like he injured it last week. he has looked to be playing with injury for a couple of years now at least. overnight he went from budding midfield star to plodder. then they made him the youngest ever captain. its not like he got injured then played out the last few games of the season , he has been plodding for ages now and getting nowhere. long before the navicular bone was announced people were speculating as to why he had lost a turn of pace and dropped off.

Giles nominating Essendon opens up some options in the way of getting the Ryder deal done.
I also noticed that Gold coast seem like Mitch Hallihan from Hawthorn so this may also open up the Gorringe options for us if Hawthorn has interest in any fringe players.

Getting nervous now!!
Have to get 2 of, Ryder, Gorrange, Lowden this trade period or we are again in ruck trouble!

Agreed, I think we have to pull the trigger on at least 1 soon, and let Essendon know that we will do so very soon. That way they can either end the posturing a day early and accept the deal, or we move on, get the 'other' deal done, and if that means we have less to offer Essendon then that's tough luck. Take it, or go to court. I just don't think we are going to get 2 deals done last minute, with 2 of 3 clubs playing hardball, and Hawthorn is a bit Laissez Faire with Lowden, so I am not sure we will be able to just swoop in and offer a bag of chips last minute and expect them to accept it.
